To think it is not at all sad that the Women's Institute is now only for actual women?

“Incredibly sadly, we will have to restrict our membership on the basis of biological sex from April next year,” Green said. “But the message we really want to get across is that it remains our firm belief that transgender women are women, and that doesn’t change.”

Tellingly - they still think women can have a penis.

Women’s Institute will no longer accept trans women as members from April

Exclusive: CEO says decision taken with ‘utmost regret and sadness’ after supreme court ruling on definition of a woman

the fact that you first try and belittle people

Okay for you to use a slur against women with this:

I actually believe that if people wanted to create some TERF friendly women’s institute they should be allowed to.

Because of course women who want single sex organisations must be insulted and dehumanised.

the sadness in the article is that they had the choice taken from them and exclude members they wished to include.

The sadness is that the WI broke the Law as stated in the Equality Act, they also went against their own Constitution and Founding Principles.

The WI Board had a choice they could quite easily have put a vote to their members to alter their Constitution to include members of both sexes, be open and transparent and within the Law, but they didn't. They still could. What they cannot do is style themselves as a single sex organisation when they are not.

Oh good. Another trans bashing thread! We hadn’t had one in at least a few hours.

Saying that transwomen are men isn't bashing anybody - if you think women can be transwomen (as opposed to transmen, which some women are) then explain how?

Otherwise it's a neutral, factual statement and not pejorative in any way. It's no more 'bashing' than saying a dog dressed up in a Rudolph costume is a dog and not a reindeer.

Yet the trans haters on here can shove their views down our necks ad nauseum.🙄 🥱 Kind of hypocritical don’t you think.

You are choosing to click on a thread, knowing that you disagree with the title and subject. And then apparently forcing yourself to read all these views that seem to upset you so much.

Maybe just click on a different thread?

You do realise this forum is AIBU right?

it would be awfully dull if we all agreed.

We don’t need to. WI was created by and for women.

If these women are so desperate for a mixed sex group then they can set that up. TRA seem to think that there are loads so I’m sure it will be super successful. Admitting transwomen will mean admitting all men otherwise thats discriminating.

Flying monkeys are quite dull.

So go ahead and engage in discussion? Rather than just telling posters who disagree to stop posting.

What a surprise, another Trans hate thread on Mumsnet.

Just what do you think is so 'hateful' about organisations being single sex if that's what they say they are?

TheKeatingFive · 07/12/2025 19:20

Theworldisbig · 07/12/2025 18:15

I felt exactly the same when I got an email from Girl guides!
'From today, 2 December, it is with a heavy heart that we are announcing trans girls and young women will no longer be able to join Girlguiding. This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community.'

It's so terrible to upset men, don't you think?

Unlike upsetting women, which is clearly fine.

SabrinaThwaite · 07/12/2025 19:21

Out of interest, I just looked at the EDI policy for the National Women’s Register - policy updated in September 2025. The first line says:

NWR is a female membership organisation firmly committed to Equal Opportunities for all, regardless of race, disability, sexual orientation, belief, religion, education, class or age.

Refreshingly clear.

I know! One wonders re the MH of posters so utterly obsessed in their vitriol towards a group of people that are already marginalised.

Men are not a marginalised group. Not even the ones with womanly feelings.

'transwomen' who are men.

C'mon, you know this

Just stop. We’re talking about children, children that are already some of the most socially isolated there are.

Girls are allowed to have space to themselves. That is the whole point of girlguiding.

TheKeatingFive · 07/12/2025 19:37

To be fair, this is not about the 'trans community'

Trans identifying women are more than welcome in the WI. It is men (whether they identify as trans or not) who aren't.

ArabellaSaurus · 07/12/2025 19:37

Helping lonely boys is not what girlguidng is for.

ArabellaSaurus · 07/12/2025 19:38

Scouts looks great. Why don't these boys join scouts?

Based on what?

There are plenty of unisex options for them. They can set up their own groups.

Young girls are not shields or support animals for gender confused boys.

TheKeatingFive · 07/12/2025 19:41

To clear up any confusion, this thread is about the WI, not the girl guides.

Same principles apply to both. No men in women's spaces.

SingleSexSpacesInSchools · 07/12/2025 19:41

S1ngS1ng · 07/12/2025 19:34

The trans community is which is what this thread is focused on.

This has nothing to do with trans people.

it only has anything to do with males in female spaces.

So by your logic - gay men are not marginalised either?

Yes, like the girl children who, for many reasons, would be isolated without single sex spaces. Why don't you people ever give a toss about them?

Gay men are not demanding their marginalization is cured by forcing the world to accept them as women.
