Why would a firebrigrade carry a person in this instance

The person obviously wasn’t fully unconscious as they remember the fire officer a bit. No pyscially injuries and no disabilities

Presumably to rescue them from a fire?
🤔

PatThePenguin · 29/11/2025 21:52

When people aren't fully conscious they tend to be a bit rubbish at walking.

Bambamhoohoo · 29/11/2025 21:53

to move them?

Arlanymor · 29/11/2025 21:56

Because they were in danger. Which it sounds like they were if they were not entirely conscious.

I remember my DP and DS ‘a bit’ carrying me into the house from the pavement where I’d fainted and then started to come round.

They wanted to get me to a safe place. Get me water. Check me over. Decide if I needed a doctor/medic or not.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 29/11/2025 21:56

Probably because they weren't fully conscious? 🤔

Wasn’t a fire was medical related

OP posts:
Allthesnowallthetime · 29/11/2025 21:57

To preserve life

Azandme · 29/11/2025 21:58

Because they, as a professional emergency worker, deemed it necessary.

Wouldn't it be better to give a full story and stop drip feeding?

Notmyreality · 29/11/2025 21:59

I imagine not being fully conscious might have something to do with it.

tripleginandtonic · 29/11/2025 21:59

I got carried when we had the fire brigade showing their skills off to a group of children i was with.

SingingOcean · 29/11/2025 21:59

Oh for goodness sake.

Ok.... presumably to get them to the medical assistance.
🤔
(there's some odd threads on here today)

GrooveArmada · 29/11/2025 21:59

What is this thread actually about?

youalright · 29/11/2025 22:00

Because if they are not fully conscious there risk of falling and causing a more serious injury is higher

CarefullyCuratedFurniture · 29/11/2025 22:00

This is a weird question. If someone is incapacitated, from smoke inhalation, injury or anything else, and you need to get them to safety, you carry them if they can't walk by themselves. Do you REALLY need this spelling out to you, OP, because it seems fairly bloody obvious!

Hollowvoice · 29/11/2025 22:01

What exactly are you trying to find out?

sittingonabeach · 29/11/2025 22:01

What would you have expected to happen?

Clonakilla · 29/11/2025 22:01

Probably to get them to a clear space of ground. I’ve moved people to resuscitate them if they collapse in the toilet or at the side of the bed or somewhere else where we can’t readily get in to do what we need to do work. I just can’t carry them to do it.

PangolinPan · 29/11/2025 22:01

To control the situation, usually easier to go for the "overkill" option than risk someone doing something dangerous. So you might see someone strapped to a backboard etc when they could theoretically walk, but it just means everyone involves knows how to deal with someone on a back board as opposed to possibly collapsing while walking somewhere awkward and risking everyone more.

Damia · 29/11/2025 22:02

Fire brigade are trained on how to safely move injured people or people who are on brink of losing consciousness for whatever reason e.g. a gas leak. I assume if they found a drunk person they might move them to safety and put them in the recovery position in case they needed to vomit

LattePatty · 29/11/2025 22:02

If you want helpful answers you need to provide a lot more information.

Merryoldgoat · 29/11/2025 22:04

@Youwerewrong have you ever had a conversation before?

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 29/11/2025 22:07

This isn’t the first random ‘why would a..’ thread you’ve started, is it?. Always the same lack of info, no full engagement with other posters, always about the police/mental health professionals/fire service. Very odd.
