Is this a police job? Threatened by Vinted seller

Reasonswhy · 28/11/2025 14:36

I know I’m not, but posting for traffic as no idea what to do.
Item for Christmas arrived today and was clearly fake so applied for a refund via Vinted. I’ve had a series of threatening messages from the seller saying he needs the money, and he has my address so will come and find me. He included a photo of himself holding an air rifle. I’m not easily spooked but feel really scared now as he does have my address and seems very angry. I’ve filed a “help” through Vinted but they may not even read it for 48 hours. Do I call 111? On my own with 2 kids so feel really on edge.

I would definitely report to the police, because it's despicable to threaten someone lke that and he needs a knock on the door from the armed police and a rocket up his backside to stop him threatening anyone else. However, I very much doubt he's serious. No one would go to so much trouble for so little. The photo appears fake, a real criminal wouldn't threaten you with his "black friends just out of prison who aren't scared of the police", they'd just turn up themselves, they wouldn't give you warning! No "black mate" is going roughing up people for someone else over a knock-off tracksuit.

Mildorado · 28/11/2025 15:25

So he needs a dose of what he's dishing out, ie armed police scaring him half to death

MaggieFS · 28/11/2025 15:27

I’d be curious to hear more stores from @PinkFootstool in an AMA.

PinkFootstool · 28/11/2025 15:04

I'm an ex detective constable and work in intelligence now 😂😂

May I just say, it appears that you’re absolutely in the right job 😂 top work.

FcukBreastCancer · 28/11/2025 15:28

What a lunatic. I hope you speak to someone soon op.

ChocolateBiscuitsandaCuppa · 28/11/2025 15:28

Also agree 999. The photo might be fake, but he's threatened you and your kids.

DrMickhead · 28/11/2025 15:28

What a little cunt. I also can’t wait until the police knock at his parents house and he gets grounded for Christmas.
My cousin was trolled online by a kid who had been talking to her DD on Snapchat and for some reason the little dickhead decided to send my cousin loads of abuse on fb through a fake account but dropped information in that sounded like it could have been someone close to the family, because there was prior DV in my cousins life the police took it seriously and found out who it was. This kid had no idea the police would trace it back to him. By all accounts he absolutely shat himself and his mother went ballistic at him. Hoping for a similar outcome for you OP

Cyclingmummy1 · 28/11/2025 15:28

Definitely report.

If you use Evri, the seller has the option to print at home so will have the buyer's address.

Monty34 · 28/11/2025 15:28

For goodness sake phone the police. Do it now.

I’d be curious to hear more stores from @PinkFootstool in an AMA.

Good idea

Anonomoso · 28/11/2025 15:31

I agree do report it as someone that can behave in this way to anyone let alone a complete stranger needs the law to be having a word with them.

MeridianB · 28/11/2025 15:31

101 is dreadful - this is serious and urgent enough for 999.

Gingka · 28/11/2025 15:31

Any news on this? I’m so so sorry this has happened to you. Thank you for raising awareness, I’ll stop getting home deliveries from Vinted and eBay as of today - they’re all going to a collection point.

Perimenopop · 28/11/2025 15:31

Definitely one to report to the police.

Stucknstoopit · 28/11/2025 15:32

this cannot be his first time of threatening behaviour, I haven’t read the full thread so maybe you have already reported him.

I’d be very surprised if he’s not already known to the police, he might even be on a licence or working with probation and this could send him back to / to prison.

i hope you’re ok, it could be easy for some people to treat this a bit of a ‘joke’ but a phone call to the police could save someone’s life at some point .

also…‘My black friends’ wtaf?!

SevenYellowHammers · 28/11/2025 15:32

Reasonswhy · 28/11/2025 14:38

These are only some of the messages, am really scared now

Police NOW! As soon as you can, update the thread and tell us how you’re doing!

Excited101 · 28/11/2025 14:41

Omg op I’m so sorry! Yes involve the police- how would he have your address? Vinted doesn’t release it

Her have her address to post the item

Dollymylove · 28/11/2025 15:34

Reasonswhy · 28/11/2025 15:11

Still on hold, should I give up and 999?

Yes

Patchedupsocks · 28/11/2025 15:35

What an utter wanker this twat really is, thinks he's hard and in reality probably a complete mummy's boy. You are doing the right thing OP in speaking to the police.
It needs Gene Hunt from 'Life on Mars' involved "Take the little shit down the nick Ray, bung 'im in the cells with Big Dennis, he's looking for a nice boyfirend."

elliesmummy19 · 28/11/2025 15:35

Oh yikes OP! Thats not good. You’re definitely doing the right thing by calling 999.

Keep us posted!

sassyduck · 28/11/2025 15:36

Get off hold and phone 999!!! This nutter needs to be stopped.

Namechange6789998212 · 28/11/2025 15:37

Does he think the pic of the gun, reference to the safety of your children and claiming he is sending his apparent ex convict mates round to your house is not a threat just because he’s said “this is not a threat”? Give over.

Absolutely call the police. Doesn’t matter if the gun pic is fake and likely an empty threat. This is no normal way to behave over losing out on 50 quid, which as you were offering to send the item back, wasn’t actually any loss to him at all. It’ll take no time at all for the police to get the address on his account and knock on his door, what a wally.

JohnTheRevelator · 28/11/2025 15:39

OMG yes! Report it to the police. If he's made a threat to you with a air rifle,I'm sure they would take it seriously.

KateShugakIsALegend · 28/11/2025 15:39

Mildorado · 28/11/2025 15:16

Also, all that business of his Black friends released from prison not being scared of the police.
I know pp are saying it's not real, it's a boy, but I this is serious.

And disgustingly racist

LasagneLasagne · 28/11/2025 15:40

Keep trying the police, OP. He's going to have a lovely surprise later when armed officers turn up at his door.
