Is this a police job? Threatened by Vinted seller

I know I’m not, but posting for traffic as no idea what to do.
Item for Christmas arrived today and was clearly fake so applied for a refund via Vinted. I’ve had a series of threatening messages from the seller saying he needs the money, and he has my address so will come and find me. He included a photo of himself holding an air rifle. I’m not easily spooked but feel really scared now as he does have my address and seems very angry. I’ve filed a “help” through Vinted but they may not even read it for 48 hours. Do I call 111? On my own with 2 kids so feel really on edge.

Ah, it is a fake image. I wouldnt worry now and would continue perusing it with Vinted.

I wouldn't - I'd definitely be still pursuing it with the Police. It's not that the image is fake (though that is something of a relief) - it's the intent behind it, the aggression and the language used.

It's genuinely terrifying and I agree with @PinkFootstool - I'd relish the chance to witness the expression on the face of this worthless lump of rancid knobcheese when the Police come a-calling.

Hope you are alright @Reasonswhy. x

He’s literally sent you a photo of himself holding a gun and saying he knows where you live. Of course you should speak to the police!

And it is 999 not 101

lifeonmars100 · 28/11/2025 15:13

I would love to see the camera footage when the police call on him at his mum's house and she finds out he is sellng crap and then threatening people who complain. What a snivelling piece of scum he is

PinkFootstool · 28/11/2025 15:09

Nah, hold his feet to the flames. This sort of bravado bullshit needs to be jumped on and hard. Not allowed to pass without criminal consequences.

Sorry, I didnt make myself clear. I would still report it to 101, but I wouldnt be scared and it wouldnt stop me from pushing for a full refund on Vinted.

Yes.

Leopardsandcheetahsarefast · 28/11/2025 15:14

I would report it to 999 you don’t know him and he has made excessive and credible demands with a gun - do you have his address on package on via vinted

I cant edit my post, I would obviously continue with 101, just I would no longer be scared and id push for a full refund.

Still on hold, should I give up and 999?

Yes. He's threatened you, using the image of a gun. You don't know it's a stock image!

BillieWiper · 28/11/2025 15:14

Wow. He said he's sending his 'black' friends. Ooooh. I'm so scared because if someone is black they must be terrifying and evil, right?!

Silly cunt. Yeah tell the police. And he is blatantly racist also.

OverlyFragrant · 28/11/2025 15:15

It's a 999 job.
Armed response to his address and an arrest for malicious communications, selling fraudulent goods, and maybe a bit of hate crime too (sending his black friends 😂😂😂)

Mildorado · 28/11/2025 15:16

Also, all that business of his Black friends released from prison not being scared of the police.
I know pp are saying it's not real, it's a boy, but I this is serious.

Totally agree.

I've got a pretty robust temperament, but even I would have been a bit disturbed by that.

rubydoobydoo · 28/11/2025 15:18

Police call handler here - in our force at least 999 calls and 101 calls go through to the same place, I might answer either! The only difference is the priority of the line, 999 calls will be prioritised in the queue and get through quicker.

It would be risk assessed exactly the same whichever number you called.

I'd say 101 for this as you're not in immediate danger - although I wouldn't mind if you called 999 as it's understandably scary!

If it's any reassurance then it's very unlikely that even if this lad DID have these recently released prison mates that they'd risk going back in for a fake tracksuit he's selling on Vinted!

Balloonhearts · 28/11/2025 15:19

Yes! It's a 999 job, he says he has a gun and he has threatened your kids. This is 999 call, armed response kind of situation.

When my crazy neighbour had an air rifle, a full armed police team came to deal with it. And he hadn't threatened anyone's children. Even if its a fake image, the threat is still a threat. This is fuck around and find out time.

Yes. What an utter waste of space he is. To think - all those sperm and HE was was the one that made it. I hope his mother is proud of him.

BinNightTonight · 28/11/2025 15:19

I totally agree about still going through the police BTW since my post has been jumped on a few times, I just didnt think it needed saying again. Of course threatening behaviour always needs to be reported and its worth it just for him to shit himself.

Definitely 999, he's making threats to kill you and your children! He absolutely needs locking up.

Anonomoso · 28/11/2025 15:23

LakieLady · 28/11/2025 15:00

That's a bit unfair.

Ours is open for 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. That's a whole 12 hours out of 168!

12 hours...i'd take that.

Ours police stations have all closed down, they now do a few hours a week working from a library.

I agree. This is over a tracksuit.
Threatening a woman and her children with a gun and some "friends".
This needs to have police intervention.

Make an online report in your local area, but try 999, although he's not actually battering your door down at your house, so it might be downgraded.
