To wonder what’s going on with Stacey Solomon

I like her (as much as you can like someone you don’t really know) although I’m less keen on how much she exposes her kids to the public eye. But that aside I enjoy her shows - both SYLO and the documentary.

But there seems to be a bit of a backlash lately - the Mail has a story (behind their paid for bit) about how she and Joe aren’t all they seem (surely not!) and I’ve read a few things about her fallout with Mrs Hinch and her Amazon affiliate programme.

Why is everyone suddenly turning against her? Is it just that we don’t generally like seeing people do well or is there more to it? I think there are worse people to dislike.

People are waking up to the bullshit that is ‘influencing’.

NuffSaidSam · 24/11/2025 19:58

It's just the way it goes, they build you up so they can tear you down.

Do you remember Cheryl Cole? She was a classic example.

itsmeafterall · 24/11/2025 20:39

Because a lot of the press are misogynistic pricks.

TeaRoseTallulah · 24/11/2025 20:41

Did she fall or with The Hinch, why? I quite like SS but can't stand Hinch.

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/11/2025 21:18

I met her at a family event at Thorpe park years ago and she seemed lovely.
It's the fame machine, they like to bring people down.

Arregaithel · 24/11/2025 21:22

"Why is everyone suddenly turning against her?"

Tall poppy syndrome

MotherWol · 24/11/2025 21:25

The Mail knows that stories about her drive clicks (and thus revenue), and probably gossipy/negative stories even more so. Therefore they’ll run whatever stories to get more readers, doesn’t matter if there’s any truth in them.

HoskinsChoice · 24/11/2025 21:25

Yep. The great British media just love to destroy people who are successful. Particularly if they happen to be female.

rainbowsparkle28 · 24/11/2025 21:34

In the words of Taylor Swift - “said they want to see you rise they don’t want you to reign” (song is called Father Figure) and “Did you girlboss too close to the sun? Did they catch you having far too much fun?
Come with me, when they see us, they'll run
Something wicked this way comes…Did you make a joke only a man could? Were you just too smug for your own good? Or bring a tiny violin to a knife fight, baby that all ends tonight” (song is called Cancelled not so ironically!)

Also see as others have suggested, the concept of tall poppy syndrome.

Plus she is a women, god forbid she get too loud, successful or powerful. Settle down and know your place. The media (run predominantly by men of a certain age, status and heritage I would argue) hate it and love just as much to see and be there front row for every spectacle of someone’s downfall as well. It sells.

But who reads the Mail and such? The only time I go on their website is when people link something interesting on here (if no paywall) and it is so
unpleasant to read - same two clickbait sentences repeated to make up a resemblance of an article, ads and the disgusting toenails ones at that, and nothing really worth reading. Do people genuinely go their website daily to get news? And pay?! I cannot imagine them buying the physical paper in this day and age either…

She’s a person. People are not perfect. It’s obvious for everyone to see she’s very driven and adores her children and I love that for her.

CoastalGrey · 24/11/2025 21:41

We do really seem to love building people up then pulling the rug away when they get ‘too’ successful. I’ve seen her called a grifter on here but to me she’s transparent about how she earns her living even if I don’t agree with all aspects of it.

Why did SS and SH fall out?

ledmeup · 24/11/2025 21:47

It’s inevitable that when you “sell” things to people some start to get annoyed with you.

Nowdontmakeamess · 24/11/2025 22:03

She’s built up a big following and now constantly tries to flog shite to them, people are probably getting fed up of it. Also posts photos of her kids in the bath etc - everyone knows what the risks are putting children on social media but she does it for a free holiday.

I read the papers on PressReader because it's free, why would you pay

FantaOranged · 24/11/2025 22:11

I saw her Ad on YouTube earlier for jewelry. She has never been my cup of tea as a person. Whoever her stylist is, they are skilled. I don't mind the husband.

What happened with the cleaning lady and what was behind the pay wall?

The Mail online is one of the most read English language sites in the world. Millions of people read the Mail.

CoastalGrey · 24/11/2025 22:21

I don’t know about the fallout with Mrs H - I think the gist is that SS supposedly used her to raise her profile and they then ended up competing for the same ad deals and fell out. I hope it’s something much juicer though.

I just don’t think the press like a woman doing well for herself. I don’t really get the backlash against influencers, nobody is forced to watch or buy the stuff.

Rosealea · 24/11/2025 22:25

The mail is a hateful rag that has sown so much hate and intolerance in this country. I'm sure Stacey and Joe are lovely, I've never heard a bad word about them.

Well … this is kind of how we’re drawn in, isn’t it? We get to think they are just like us, almost our friends, and they aren’t. Both times I’ve been on maternity leave I’ve ended up getting a bit over invested in influencers’ lives: it started benignly enough, with showing an interest in those who had babies at a similar time to me, but it really is absolutely toxic.

Oh no, just someone like SS who apparently isnt allowed to turn a pretty penny and making a living.
