To wonder what’s going on with Stacey Solomon

I like her (as much as you can like someone you don’t really know) although I’m less keen on how much she exposes her kids to the public eye. But that aside I enjoy her shows - both SYLO and the documentary.

But there seems to be a bit of a backlash lately - the Mail has a story (behind their paid for bit) about how she and Joe aren’t all they seem (surely not!) and I’ve read a few things about her fallout with Mrs Hinch and her Amazon affiliate programme.

Why is everyone suddenly turning against her? Is it just that we don’t generally like seeing people do well or is there more to it? I think there are worse people to dislike.

As others say, I really like her. In her documentaries she came across as compassionate, kind and very bright. She shows far greater flare at getting to the heart of her subjects than Louis Theroux ever could. (I always think he makes fun of easy targets while lacking the agility to carry out a journalistic expose).
When she appears on chat shows and quizzes she seems warm and at times genuinely hilarious.
Most women I know rate her highly and think her very intelligent.
All in all, what’s not to like, so is it any surprise to find the (predominantly male media) don’t? 🤷‍♀️

Is that not Stacey Dooley? I mean I’ve never seen her in the same room at the same time as Stacey Solomon but I’m pretty sure they’re different people.

Did she fall or with The Hinch, why? I quite like SS but can't stand Hinch.

mrs hinch very much had a USP, SS became besties with her and seemed to then take a lot of opportunities (eg sort your life out, asda home range) that would have been more suited to the Mrs hinch style . Are they still Friends ? Not sure.

I know some who have met her and didn’t like her but I’m holding back on judgement there as we all have off days and it might be annoying being bothered in public.

CoastalGrey · 25/11/2025 07:08

@Sesma I haven’t read it, what has Joe done wrong?

OP posts:
Sesma · 25/11/2025 07:10

The thing with Mrs Hinch is maybe something to do with SS encouraging her sister to do the cleaning stuff according to the article.

GehenSieweiter · 25/11/2025 07:13

She's quite annoying imho, not really the 'role model' folk make her out to be. I wish her and hef family well, but none of what she says or does interests me remotely.

It's just the way it goes, they build you up so they can tear you down.

Do you remember Cheryl Cole? She was a classic example.

Cheryl punched someone.
Cheryl is also a very weak singer, yet somehow judges other people's singing ability.

"Why is everyone suddenly turning against her?"

Tall poppy syndrome

She really isn't a tall poppy though.

People are waking up to the bullshit that is ‘influencing’.

I sincerely hope so

ThankYouVeryMuchJerry · 25/11/2025 07:23

Isn’t she the one who had a hissy fit at not winning a BAFTA?

Moonmelodies · 25/11/2025 07:29

It has certainly become more precarious being a successful Jewish woman in the public eye over recent years.

YellowCherry · 25/11/2025 07:30

I like Stacey but I do think she is taking the "selling people absolute crap" gig too far.

Glowingup · 25/11/2025 07:31

Idk, it’s not really tall poppy syndrome. Both Stacey Solomon and Mrs Hinch have no discernible talent (so are by definition not tall poppies), push themselves into the public eye for things like cleaning their houses, yet they earn millions for it.

Influencer marketing is clever because people don’t initially realise they are being sold too. The influencer they follow is relatable and more like a friend so the trust is high. Invariably the influencer starts selling more & more and then the follower starts to question the authenticity of it all & the trust starts to wane as they realise it was all just marketing

This is it in a nutshell. SS’s whole family (excluding the brother who lives in Switzerland I think) are in on it and just constantly on the sell/beg.

People get annoyed at the fake friendship narrative and the “Im just like you” pretence. Not everyone is switched on about selling on social media and influencers take advantage of this.

Shops sell through adverts, often using famous celebs, but for me, it’s much more transparent. SS’s (and others) “little old me/I’m your friend” persona on her instagram is a cynical way of hooking people in to buy land-fill shite they don’t need and which SS will advise to chuck out should they get on SYLO!

SS sells herself and her DC for money. The older boys don’t even live in the main house with the rest of the family and the younger “older” boy was sleeping in the annexe at 14! she got “mother of the year”’or some other shite award taken away as she was caught smoking twice whilst pregnant. Ok, none of us are perfect but people are now cottoning on to the fakery of SM. She’s certainly not the earth mother she makes out.

DaisyChain505 · 25/11/2025 07:35

Because people are starting to see through her.

Everything she does is premeditated and calculated.

She’ll do a few stories pretending to talk about something else whilst waving her hands in the camera with a new ring on then hours later say “oh so many of you have asked where this is from.” And up pops an affiliate link and then the ring is never to be seen again.

Now she’s got to the point where she doesn’t even try and dress it up as pretending to care it’s just story after story with an affiliate link.

Or maybe with Cheryl, it’s more the fact that she’s an odious, unpleasant person of limited talent, with a conviction for assault on a nightclub toilet attendant. Not the best example of a shining beacon being ‘torn down’ 🙄

Eh, that's a reach.
She's not really the embodiment of Jewish values, is she?

I don't think it was the media who were nasty to Cheryl. If anything, they fawned over her. It was the public who got tired of her. I think it was her embarrasingly awful duet with Gary Barlow at the Jubilee in 2012 that really marked her cards. It was then that is was made obvious beyond any doubt that she had zero vocal talent.

FantaOranged · 24/11/2025 22:42

Then if I were Stacey I would accept that the sun has stopped shining, there is no more hay making and find something else to do.

Bet she’s used to being talked about negatively more than others. Being half Jewish at a Jewish secondary school, getting pregnant as a teen, breaking up engagement after getting pregnant, album not doing well, having three children from three fathers (before the girls followed)… Media has never had good things to say about her, while she quietly got a large IG following because she was open and honest on there, and helping small businesses left, right and centre. She succeeded despite the traditional media.

And she has now the hair product company etc where she can carry on earning if the tv contracts end. I think she’s prepared and will be the least surprised if she loses public support (again).

Loads of people experience negativity, but don't go on to con people into buying stuff by pretending to be their friend.

To be fair, I remember when Stacey was on the X Factor and she was a decent singer. I think some people forget how Stacey became famous.

She could sing covers quite well, she didn't really make enough of a career though, otherwise she'd not be selling tat on IG.

u3ername · 25/11/2025 07:56

@GehenSieweiterany particular examples? Have you followed her on Instagram?
All she sold me is accepting my body post pregnancies and being ok with hairy armpits occasionally…

soupyspoon · 24/11/2025 22:29

Like Sainsburys or M+S you mean?

Oh no, just someone like SS who apparently isnt allowed to turn a pretty penny and making a living.

Influencers’ selling strategies are the hard sell, more comparable to MLMs and shopping channels.

She was better than decent, one of the best ones there.
