To wonder what’s going on with Stacey Solomon

I like her (as much as you can like someone you don’t really know) although I’m less keen on how much she exposes her kids to the public eye. But that aside I enjoy her shows - both SYLO and the documentary.

But there seems to be a bit of a backlash lately - the Mail has a story (behind their paid for bit) about how she and Joe aren’t all they seem (surely not!) and I’ve read a few things about her fallout with Mrs Hinch and her Amazon affiliate programme.

Why is everyone suddenly turning against her? Is it just that we don’t generally like seeing people do well or is there more to it? I think there are worse people to dislike.

She doesnt need to be. A business is a business, is a business.

We all make a living dont we?

Well, we do but people do have opinions about certain ways of making a living that they don’t agree with. I don’t like the influencer culture. I think it is absolutely toxic and responsible for a lot of nonsense about parenting and relationships generally.

I don’t know about the fallout with Mrs H - I think the gist is that SS supposedly used her to raise her profile and they then ended up competing for the same ad deals and fell out. I hope it’s something much juicer though.

Air freshener brand deal wars?

Cheryl Cole who punched a woman?

That's the one.

But remember that punching a woman didn't end her career. The media built her up when they chose to and tore her down when they chose to.

The punching a woman in a toilet incident was really early on, before she briefly became a national treasure, which just goes to show it's not about what you actually do or don't do, it's about the media narrative.

It's just the way it goes, they build you up so they can tear you down.

Do you remember Cheryl Cole? She was a classic example.

I’ve no idea if anything is going on but this generally holds true with the UK media - they’re pretty horrendous!

Wintertime2025 · 24/11/2025 22:38

Yes k was thinking exactly the same. The mail is also going after Kelly brook as well

FantaOranged · 24/11/2025 22:42

Then if I were Stacey I would accept that the sun has stopped shining, there is no more hay making and find something else to do.

BeMintFatball · 24/11/2025 22:53

I don’t think she is as sweet as she makes out. I was purchasing an item costing several hundred pounds. The shop assistant mentioned serving Stacey in the store. It was quite the eye opener. Entitled much .

LamonicBibber1 · 24/11/2025 22:53

I hope Stacey Solomon reads these generally sensible and positive comments. I think she does remarkably well to stay as grounded as she does. Her parenting of her eldest was interesting to watch, he's in education and she expects them to pull their weight.

If she was on benefits with her large family, people would be tearing her down... So why the fuck do people take issue with her working very hard, making more money than her husband, and generally being financially savvy, especially with having come up from difficult circumstances?

It's jealousy and misogyny, and it's shit. I think she isn't perfect but she has her head screwed on; and I really hope the media doesn't reduce her to a shell with their bullshit.

ledmeup · 24/11/2025 23:10

@soupyspoon I am confused by your response to my post. Are you saying people don’t get annoyed at people they look up to selling them stuff?

I wouldn’t compare one person to a shop, but nonetheless people do get annoyed at Sainsbury’s etc

doeadeer2 · 24/11/2025 23:15

I’m not keen on the blatant pushing of Amazon products that she’s been doing recently on her instagram stories. It doesn’t seem genuine. I used to like watching her content about her house and crafty projects. Now it all feels a bit contrived. Such is the influencer life but I wouldn’t have thought she needed the money to be honest.

ledmeup · 24/11/2025 23:19

Influencer marketing is clever because people don’t initially realise they are being sold too. The influencer they follow is relatable and more like a friend so the trust is high. Invariably the influencer starts selling more & more and then the follower starts to question the authenticity of it all & the trust starts to wane as they realise it was all just marketing

How is Stacey selling a few cosmetics 'toxic'?

2021x · 24/11/2025 23:25

I don't particularly like or hate her, I think she is a hard worker and makes her living in the world of entertainment. Part of that is sales.. most actors do adverts, or voiceovers and that all depends on the one-sided parasocial relationships.

I suspect she is getting some backlash because she is an easy target. All of the feedback in online, so can be seen by any journalist trying to fill some pages. Conflict always sells so its easy for them to overstate something to get attention.

I strongly believe however, that no children should ever be used by their parent on social media or for any PR. The children didn't consent and don't have control over those pictures when they are on the internet. It is always a red flag when any celebrity is photographed with their children (including politicans and the Royal Family) and I think as a society we shouldn't allow it.

This ^^

The Mail in particular seem to revel in this type of character assassination. Unfortunately the general public lap it up.

covilha · 24/11/2025 23:38

As others say, I really like her. In her documentaries she came across as compassionate, kind and very bright. She shows far greater flare at getting to the heart of her subjects than Louis Theroux ever could. (I always think he makes fun of easy targets while lacking the agility to carry out a journalistic expose).
When she appears on chat shows and quizzes she seems warm and at times genuinely hilarious.
Most women I know rate her highly and think her very intelligent.
All in all, what’s not to like, so is it any surprise to find the (predominantly male media) don’t? 🤷‍♀️

LBFseBrom · 25/11/2025 00:05

The media is like that. Fawning over someone, building them up, then gleefully taking them down, draggin up stories from years gone by. Have we not seen that time and time again.
Iteminds me of the Shakespeare quotation, Julius Caesar:
"The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones".

FantaOranged · 25/11/2025 01:20

I was watching Carole on the Andrew Gold podcast recently and she spoke about the other loose women. I haven't watched anything else with Stacey. It reminded me that like Lorraine, Stacey was one of those pushed transing kids on Loose women.

Why does that make her entitled? You purchased in the same store!

Bikergran · 25/11/2025 05:25

Frankly, I wouldn't wipe my arse on the Daily Mail, aka fascists forum.

This is a bit of a weird take - why does buying something expensive make her entitled? Are you also entitled since you bought something in the same shop?

She’s a millionaire- she’s allowed to spend her money.

I think she’s great. If there are negative stories about her it will just be to drive attention/clicks. If you dont like her you don’t have to engage with her but it could be worth thinking about why exactly you don’t like her, whether there is any element of classism or misogyny in that or whether it’s been driven by information pushed to you online.

Sesma · 25/11/2025 06:07

I thought the article was more scathing of her husband than her

I think you’re talking about another Stacey…

Sesma · 25/11/2025 06:19

Has anyone actually read the article

MenoCoach · 25/11/2025 06:28

Rags like the Fail just write outrage articles, designed to get you to get outraged, or defend a side for or against, then you're more likely to click on them or comment on them aren't you? Effective but nasty. Grim.

crossedlines · 25/11/2025 06:30

Yeah absolutely true that the media like to tear people down. But come on! This is someone who exposes her children constantly all over social media, there’s no respect for their right to privacy, she’s just using them to stay in the public eye and keep the dollar rolling in. ‘Influencers’ who use their children in this way are bloody awful
