Inappropriate message in DP’s leaving card?

Helenavets · 20/11/2025 17:54

DP had his final day in his job yesterday and got a lot of gifts and presents.

His card has been signed by all his colleagues, I noticed one message signed off by a female says ‘I will miss you my favourite DILFY colleague xxxx”

I asked who this was and she’s a single woman a similar age to him.

Am I reading a bit too much into this?

Maybe someone else wrote it as a joke.

@IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow what does the ‘f’ stand for then, because otherwise that is well dodgy if see them as a father figure!

tonyhawks23 · 20/11/2025 19:02

Dilfy doesn't mean father figure!

Helenavets · 20/11/2025 19:04

I did ask DP and he used the term banter too and said they usually have a laugh so it’s in keeping with this.

Mm sounds suspicious to me tbh.

lolly427 · 20/11/2025 19:11

If it was dodgy he'd probably have made sure you didn't see it.

It’s a variation of MILF/DILF and doesn’t mean the same at all - it means someone at work who’s the ‘team dad’ or father figure. So usually older, wiser and takes the young ‘uns under their wing.

Not inappropriate at all if you know the meaning. It’s not the same as DILF/MILF I promise!

No, DILF is the male equivalent of MILF. It stands for dad I'd like to fuck. Not sure why you think it doesn't?

Westfacing · 20/11/2025 19:16

She's saying she'd liked to have fucked him - not that she did!

Inappropriate to write this in a card.

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 20/11/2025 19:18

It's an in joke and he's leaving anyway

Unless he starts seeing her despite not working together any more, it's nothing

No idea why this replied again to you!

That doesn’t fit- what’s the y for?

She's illiterate to boot.

Glitchymn1 · 20/11/2025 19:23

What does it mean? What’s the Y for, ask your DP and report back.
I would think it’s just ‘banter’ too. If it does mean dad I want to fuck- that’s embarrassing as hell and she doesn’t mean it.

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 20/11/2025 19:24

Also, whilst the acronym literally means Dad I'd Like To Fuck
DILF is used just common place as sexy/hot/attractive and doesn't necessarily literally mean they want to fuck

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 20/11/2025 19:26

The Y is obviously to make in an adjective

TwoTuesday · 20/11/2025 19:28

I think it's a harmless joke. If slightly unsuitable for work!

shuggles · 20/11/2025 19:31

@Helenavets Stuff like this is almost always a joke, and I'm sure if your husband ever had tried to show romantic intentions with this colleague, she would have been horrified.

I've seen this countless times before. Women makes sex joke. Man sees far too much into it. Women is horrified when man thinks woman is interested in him.

There's no indication that your husband has ever actually tried anything, but my point is that it's extremely unlikely that this woman actually has an attraction to him.

Bahhhhhumbug · 20/11/2025 19:36

haveaword · 20/11/2025 18:00

Dad Id like to f**k

What's the Y for then ?

localnotail · 20/11/2025 19:38

She is probably an office nutter with weird sense of humour. No one who is actually interested in your husband/ had an affair with him would write that. Imagine, the whole office would see that - why would she say it if she was serious - I would say its definitely a joke.

shhblackbag · 20/11/2025 19:39

Even if it's banter, it's beyond cringe to write it in a leaving card.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 20/11/2025 19:39

This is the funniest thread with everyone arguing about its meaning. Lol

The Y is just to make the word cuter. It stands for nothing.

honeybeetheoneandonly · 20/11/2025 19:40

I also think it will have been a nod to some office conversation. It won't mean anything. People are just trying to be funny. Reading 50 "dear John, all the best" is just repetitive and boring. We have someone in our office who writes the most outrageous stuff in leaving cards.

arcticpandas · 20/11/2025 19:43

I wouldn't worry about it. Not his fault that his collegue is vulgar. If he had anything to hid he wouldn't have let you see the card so don't give it any more thought

Hons123 · 20/11/2025 19:45

Banter, surely. Nobody would put it in if there was anything to it, not in front of colleagues, not in writing
