Neighbour heard everything!

So I have been divorced a year and have been talking to a guy for a good while (we have met a few times prior to this) anyway, we ended up back to my house one night and my neighbour heard the whole thing. To the point where she knocked on the wall. I want to die of embarrassment, I saw her the other morning and she usually says hi, nothing, I think she now hates me.

If she has children I can see why she's pissed off to be honest. Depending on their age that's a difficult conversation to have a 2 in the morning.

Also depends whether you were emitting normal levels of passion or howling like a performing monkey.

Jenpen31 · 11/11/2025 15:05

I think most people have heard this through their walls at one time or another. Dont worry about it.

Conniebygaslight · 11/11/2025 15:29

Bluecrystal2 · 11/11/2025 14:36

Don't worry, it will blow over.

I heard my neighbour's best friend banging her husband when she was in hospital.

Yikes!

Overtheatlantic · 11/11/2025 15:55

Your sex must feel better than mine. I’ve never had a neighbour knock on the wall.

Soembarrassedd · 11/11/2025 16:31

I’m honestly not proud of it, I’m mortified

Don’t feel bad about this OP

Dartmoorcheffy · 11/11/2025 16:33

Have you apologised to her?

I can’t!

OP posts:
Dartmoorcheffy · 11/11/2025 16:43

Of course you can next time you see her, just say "I am so sorry for the other night, had a bit too much to drink and got carried away",

Or act dumb, ask if you've done something to upset her and when she says what it is, blame it on your "friend/sister/anyone else" who was staying while you were away overnight 😃

Missj25 · 11/11/2025 16:48

Can you not just approach her & say “ look I’m very embarrassed about the last night , I would just like to say sorry , I know you have kids & I’d hate if you were out with me over it “ , leave it like that, anyone worth bothering with will accept apology .

Desmodici · 11/11/2025 17:14

Take her a bottle of wine; hand it over while apologising.
Then produce a second bottle from behind your back and say, 'And this is for the next time!' Run away, chortling loudly.

FatherDickByrneV · 11/11/2025 17:16

These things happen and its hardly the crime of the century. I don't think you should ignore the issue. You never know when/if you might need her in the future. Be brave. Post a note and small box of chocs through her letterbox. Just apologise for the noise and say it won't happen again. Next time you see her after that try saying hi again. If she's still icy after that then its her issue but at least you'll have tried ❤️

Unfortunately had to do this thanks to our neighbour. We blamed the foxes.

A one off, I could put up with. But if it becomes frequent...my god I wanted to throttle our neighbour. We started going to bed at 9 so we were fast asleep before it started. We'd phone her in the middle to ask her to stfu. She thought it was hilarious we could hear.

Don't, it was probably envy!!

I doubt that.

Decent people used to play music, or whatever it took, to avoid being overheard. Just because it's "natural" doesn't mean anyone wants to be an unwilling party to it.

GehenSieweiter · 11/11/2025 17:21

I don't fancy being kept awake by someone else's loud sex either, nothing to do with jealousy, just annoying.

Soembarrassedd · 11/11/2025 17:22

My children were at their dads at the time and I just feel like such a bad person like she thinks I’m a bad mum because of it

XWKD · 11/11/2025 17:25

Could you make up a story? "People were staying at my house and I've since heard that they were a bit boisterous."

Enjoying loud sex doesn't make you a bad mum, it might make you a slightly irritating neighbour. The thing is, she's being silly giving you the silent treatment, she needs to say something or let it slide. I wouldn't grovel. Hopefully she's not a gossip.

Blodyneighbour · 11/11/2025 17:31

She may be jealous. Unless you were acting like a porn star. I was sitting outside in my garden a few times when my neighbours decided to go at it mid afternoon with all the windows open on a hot summers day while I had all my family round. Never said anyhthing to them though. They would have been mortified if I did.

SandStormNorm · 11/11/2025 17:32

send her ear plugs in a christmas card.

hypnovic · 11/11/2025 17:34

She's just jealous 😂

Paulaloves · 11/11/2025 17:35

Fair play to you, OP. A year (possibly more?) is a long time to go without so I don’t think anyone on here will blame you for letting off some steam!

Dancingdance · 11/11/2025 17:35

Soembarrassedd · 11/11/2025 13:12

I completely understand that and I do feel bad about it. I haven’t done it since. She does have children and I understand why she may have been annoyed

Her children probably heard and asked questions. It’s not nice for children to hear loud sex, especially if they’re toddlers or primary school aged.
