Thats it really, the BBC lied to us, all of us.

They edited a Trump speech to make him look like he said something he did not.

They pushed one side of the transgender debate relentlessly, deliberately hiding negative stories on detransitioners, the US WPATH file and thousands of more cases

https://archive.ph/wWdMS

https://archive.ph/uiEKW

They have cancelled people for wrong-think at every opportunity, pushed drag queens over women, turned woman hours into mens hour, constantly attacked anyone who does not share their extreme liberal left wing views and kept them off the news cycle

They have utterly and completely lost all trust, they ARE biased they DON'T give balance in the news

Everyone thought it was a conspiracy, now we know it's actually true and we have PROOF

Today the BBC Director and News Director have both quit in absolute disgrace.

It is time the BBC was consigned to the dustbin because we are never getting back to the BBC I loved and trusted, the one that ran programmes to inform and entertain and educate, that BBC is long gone.

Replace it, completely.

It’s laughable that Tim Davie has been accused of left wing bias. He was chair of a local Conservative association, and was once a Tory candidate. Left wing bias, my arse 😂😂😂

Yanbu OP. I refuse to fund an organisation that spreads dangerous misinformation and propaganda and relies on its old reputation (friendly, benign, "auntie") which no longer exists. The BBC is a shadow of its former self.

I stopped paying for a tv licence a few years ago (I no longer watch the BBC or any live tv) and I am pleased I am no longer funding this shit.

It’s not just live TV, you also can’t watch on demand TV like catch-up or boxsets on BBC iPlayer, Sky Go, NOW.

Wrong (other than in iPlayer).

  • That's not true it's only live tv and BBC iPlayer you can't watch
  • On-demand content: You don't need a TV license to watch shows after they have been broadcast on services like STV, Channel 4, Channel 5, and ITVX, or others like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.
SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 10/11/2025 09:58

The fact that their Arabic service employs terrorists, and that they report unfiltered terrorist propaganda as factual news, means they have lost credibility years ago.

It has been proven to be utterly unfit for purpose.

You're talking utter bollocks OP.

The amount of hyperbole on threads recently is ridiculous. I don't know if it's an influx of posters with poor critical thinking skills or people deliberately trying to stir up division. Possibly a mix of both.

Absolutely this. 100%.

I never mentioned Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Disney+.

They’re all streamers, of course you don’t need a TV license to watch them.

I remember the howls of outrage from the left when he was appointed. A political appointee of Johnson, was the accusation as I recall. I'm not saying that what happened isn't a total clusterfuck, but I don't think it's evidence of systemic bias.

It's lack of strong and enforced editorial guidelines.

Sky Go and NOW have linear channels, you can’t watch them without a TV license.

Sky Go and NOW have linear channels, you can’t watch them without a TV license.

It specifically says you can watch on demand services from those providers in the photo I attached. You just can't watch TV as it's being broadcast via those channels.

ThatBlackCat · 10/11/2025 10:03

TortillaKitty · 10/11/2025 09:36

I was speaking specifically to the particular example I quoted, and that had nothing to do with race, colour or ethnicity. Disgusting that you would bring that in.

You didn't specify anything. You simply said And what’s with the phrase “some things should not be included”? That’s a bit dehumanising.

I was showing how there are times that group need to exclude others in order to preserve the intent and purpose of the group. There is nothing 'disgusting' in that, you're being irrational.

nomas · 10/11/2025 10:13

It’s moot because Sky and NOW don’t sell a TV package with just on demand and no linear channels.

So if you buy a a package from them, you need a TV license.

You can buy a film or box set from Sky Store and you don’t need a TV Licanse for that. That’s likely what TV license are referring to.

where’s that reported? Link, if you have it, please

Yes they do!

Clearly box sets and films on demand at Now.

You can watch catch up on Sky too. As long as you don't watch TV as it's broadcast, you're fine. It's how you watch which is critical.

Heads have rolled, but clearly there is a sizeable minority that will not be satisfied until the BBC has been destroyed. Go abroad and you will realise that the BBC is one of the last British institutions that inspires respect and admiration. Sad people can't see what is uniquely British and absolutely worth preserving.

What is it that is uniquely British and worth preserving?

Because provision of Bitesize and (historically) kids tv such as CBeebies - yes. Solid stuff.

Provision of news / current affairs - provable bias and that is wholly unacceptable in public service broadcasting. Worse, they do not recognise either its existence, or the betrayal of ethics and the destruction of trust it has caused. The grimmest aspect of all the scandals that have rocked the BBC is that we have historically been able to trust them and they have abused our trust.

This compromises all the values they claim to espouse - transparency, representation, fairness - and the lack of those ethical practices in action is destructive of social cohesion. While they claim to promote it.

And now the ‘heads rolling’ carousel is just giving us performative change, like the Romans executing emperors. We need alteration, reform, ethical examination, understanding of the social contract in BBC News. And if they can’t do that they have no USP and they can rename themselves Pravda and be sold to the highest bidder so we know they can’t be trusted.

Where does that say you can buy a package without linear channels?! You can’t!

If the inspector sees you have a package that is capable of having broadcast channels, you will be fined.

Same as if your TV is connected to an aerial. You may only watch DVDs on it but the connection to the aerial is proof you can watch TV channels.

Just asking … when a trans man is pregnant - and this situation isn’t infrequent - isn’t the term ‘pregnant people’ more inclusive of them? If so, what is the issue with that?

When discussing sex based matters such as pregnancy, the correct word is woman or female.

‘Transman’ is a self declared ‘identity’ so not only is it not relevant to that piece, it is actively misleading.

I loved the BBC but unfortunately it is being destroyed from within by the zealots. These people will continue to employ dishonesty, bullying and whatever else tactics they can find to push their agendas. I don’t believe it is possible to get through to those people so while they are employed, they are so captured they can’t see it and these things will continue to happen.

The BBCs brand is trust, honesty and impartiality. They have damaged that brand enormously and are making it very hard to argue to hang on to bits that would be worth preserving.

It’s not the critics that are threatening the future of the BBC, it’s the zealots they employ.

The inspector isn't allowed in your house, so can't see anything.

The offence is watching live (as it's broadcast) TV. Not watching catch up. The licensing website tells you that you can watch catch up tv on Now and Sky. So you are just wrong. It's a shame you love arguing so much and have failed to read what the licensing website says you can actually do, rather than just making it up!

When discussing obesity, should we include anorexics?

Just because someone says they are the opposite sex, doesn't mean it is true.
