My work colleague is bonkers, isn’t she!?

My long term and close colleague told me today she sometimes makes a 40 minute round trip home on lunch to avoid having to ‘do the deed’ using the only loo in our office. Is this not the most ridiculous thing ever 😂

Edited to say I’m not the P troll before anyone says haha

Totally crazy.

Koolandorthegang · 06/11/2025 16:43

I know loads of people that won’t poo anywhere other than in their own home.

APMom6 · 06/11/2025 16:46

It’s a not uncommon form of anxiety not being able to pee in public toilets or ones other than at home. My adult dd has been like this for a very long time, she feels it goes back to primary school toilets. It affect men too, I saw a tv programme where it affected a man.

YenneferOfVengerburg · 06/11/2025 16:48

Right - and this just came up in conversation?

I have NEVER had a conversation about where I poo

GeorgeClooneyshouldhavemarriedme · 06/11/2025 16:54

For number 1s too?
Or just number 2s?

What do they do when they go on holiday?? Or when staying overnight with a friend?

Some people are nuts.

They get really constipated for the first week on holiday then eventually go if they’re staying a while. Staying with friends one night they probably won’t go until they get home. I know, I think it’s bonkers

TheatricalLife · 06/11/2025 16:57

I actually get it.
Multiple toilets for the workplace, I wouldn't care. One? I would. To be honest, I'd probably be unable to go anyway, but however bonkers it seems, I'd be the same. Wee, no issues.

Happyjoe · 06/11/2025 17:19

Quite a lot of people, higher than you would think, have toilet phobias of one type or another. Please don't say bonkers to your friend.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 06/11/2025 17:22

I could never and would never poo at work. I can barely poo on holiday. Its a thing. 😔

DS is the same. DD can shit anywhere. I'm so proud of her.

I'm with your colleague but she really should have trained herself not need to go in work hours. She needs to sort "her routine".

It's not a conscious decision. It just won't happen. Despite best efforts. I learned all the best yoga poses for constipation on holiday. Sad times.

PracticalPixie · 06/11/2025 17:26

I avoid it at my work as the toilets aren't very private and also don't flush properly! If you've got to go, you've got to go, but I'd truly rather not.

Seriously? Its just occured to me how often I do talk about poo. 😕

*Pootine.

I was like this for years. I remember a 2 day festival when I were 16, I didnt eat before or during it to avoid it.

She should have trained herself? She’s not a Labrador !!

Pootine. Fabulous. I'm using that. 😀

So many holidays spent rocking on the loo. Holding my knees up. I've contemplated taking a poo stool with me so I can assume the (optimal) position. But my family laughed so hard at that they shamed me!

Doobedobe · 06/11/2025 17:32

I know someome that had three kids and a husband and has never pooped while they are in the house. She says she waits until they are out. She can't poop while people are in the house.
People are funny.

Pity. In my experience they have little concern about where they poo.

I thought most people have a routine? Your body gets accustomed to a certain time.

LlynTegid · 06/11/2025 17:38

I am not surprised one bit, given how some people are unclean to say the least when using workplace toilets.

As for holidays, most of the time you have your own bathroom so it is not used by all and sundry.

Changingplace · 06/11/2025 17:38

I’m so glad this has never been something I’ve even considered, if I need to go I’ll just go 😂 I was on a train yesterday and it had to be done!

I'm not sure it works well verbally as 'poutine' is an American? South American perhaps food/dish mate with cheese and potatoes!

I seem to only know people who cannot and will not poo anywhere other than home, and people who make a song and dance about it, letting everyone know. No-one 'normal' in my circle!

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/11/2025 17:40

I got confused for a bit, going home to avoid “doing the deed”.

Was beginning to wonder what goes on in your place at lunchtime. 🤷‍♀️

Enigma54 · 06/11/2025 17:41

Mmmm.. only 1 toilet and maybe someone is waiting patiently to use it. That would put me off too. I would train myself to go before work.

A 40 min round trip. So she can’t be completely desperate before she embarks on the 20 min trip home?

TheChosenTwo · 06/11/2025 17:43

I don’t think it’s that bonkers tbh! I mean I’d just hold it in until I got home if I could but I’ve never been in a “pootine”, dh is like a dog and goes on his own command ie 5 minutes within waking, I’m more of an every 2-3 days kind of girl and also another one who struggles abroad for the first week (think it’s also the change in diet, temperature, decline in water drinking and increase in alcohol consumption!) and then it gets a little better.
i can wee at work no problem.

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/11/2025 17:47

I’ve got a bucket tonne of bowel missing. When my body says “go for a shit now!”, it doesn’t matter where I am, I’m in the nearest toilet.
