My work colleague is bonkers, isn’t she!?

My long term and close colleague told me today she sometimes makes a 40 minute round trip home on lunch to avoid having to ‘do the deed’ using the only loo in our office. Is this not the most ridiculous thing ever 😂

Edited to say I’m not the P troll before anyone says haha

Blimey, I am in awe of her bowel control. I must have a very determined digestive system - when it calls I need to respond!

DiscoBob · 06/11/2025 18:40

That is quite funny if it really is just for the loo.

But I used to do a 40 mins round trip home from work at lunch just because I wanted to see my family and chill at home for twenty minutes. If I couldn't afford to go to the pub with my work mates at lunch I'd rather be at home. Also means I was walking a minimum of four miles a day.

One lady used to regularly drive home (about three miles), make a huge batch of samosa from scratch, and bring them back to work in her lunch break! Safe to say nobody was complaining as long as they were quick enough to get one!

JipJup · 06/11/2025 18:44

It's a bit weird all her colleagues know she's off home for a shit 😁

I thought the same haha. I would probably go home if im honest to but wouldn't be like

"Right guys, off home for a poo and a sandwich for lunch. See ya in a bit"

Jasmine222 · 06/11/2025 18:46

Oh I totally have this. First night with a guy in a hotel and I had to send him down to breakfast so that I could go in peace then join him at breakfast. Awfully annoying. To those who don't understand, you have all the cramps and really need to go, but when you actuallt try, doesn't work. Mental block. I have to feel really comfortable around whoever it is to actually be ok with going in the same house.

I think I'd invent a dog that needed walking 🤗

mindutopia · 06/11/2025 18:47

I had a friend who wouldn’t wee at work. He struggled to wee anywhere but home. It goes without saying that nights out with him were a bit challenging. 😂

Left · 06/11/2025 18:51

Can we not just have a poo topic already… All these weird poo threads can be banished to their own little area 😬

Cherrysoup · 06/11/2025 18:54

A colleague of mine tries very hard to not even pee at work. There are no toilets on her floor and it is frankly almost impossible if you have break/lunch duty and a full day to leave your floor, but I will literally clean the shared loo if necessary. No way could I not pee all day!

DoYouReally · 06/11/2025 18:02

Your proud that your children have been taught to deny themselves natural bowel movement?

That's seriously unhealthy.

Did you misread my post? I was kidding but I'm proud that DD doesn't have any difficulties going. She has no problems that way.

Eta: ah, I think you already said you misread. Missed that.

QuickPeachPoet · 06/11/2025 19:06

I wouldn't do this but I know people who do. Bashful bowel.

For me if you've got to go that's what toilets are for. But I will admit I try to go before work if possible as I am on some medication atm which makes having a poo a rather smelly affair.

Freshstartyear25 · 06/11/2025 19:07

I have never done number 2 at work. Like never. I know it’s funny to say ‘train’ yourself not to need to go at work but it’s like subconsciously, my system has been trained to only need number 2 in the morning just after waking up which means I’m always at home. If I go on holiday, I won’t need to go for the first 2 days, it’s so weird, like I’m not trying to not go but just because I’m not in a familiar place, it just doesn’t happen even if I try. Same with my mum 🤭

SassyCow · 06/11/2025 19:08

I get it, I much prefer my own toilet but if you've got to go you've got to go.

Pipersouth · 06/11/2025 19:10

So strange I’m sitting here feeling sorry for people and a bit smug that I can whenever I need to - I will take that very small win in life thank you

I know loads of people that won’t poo anywhere other than in their own home.

Its not a won't its a can't.
I try but my bum just says "nope"

Bookaholic73 · 06/11/2025 19:12

I am one of those people who can’t poo anywhere except their own toilet.

Well, actually it’s not so much that, but I can’t poo in a house where I think I might be overheard going for a poo. Even in my own home, I can’t poo if we have guests. I don’t even poo if my husband can hear me.

When I last went on holiday I shared a villa with my mum and sister and was incredibly uncomfortable and bloated by day 3, as I couldn’t poo.

So on day 4 they all went out for the day on a boat trip. I stayed at the villa and pooed no problem.

MyLittleCatMan · 06/11/2025 19:14

I walk quite far if i need to use a loo at work as the loos in our building are gender neutral and disgusting so i walk until i find single sex loos. I look on it as a nice wee walk. I’m nhs.

YourWildAmberSloth · 06/11/2025 19:14

I would do the same - I hate pooing at work. On holiday, using the toilet in your hotel is no different to using one at home - the main issue is that it is your private toilet. At work, I just can't.

Anearoa · 06/11/2025 19:15

When I first read this I thought doing the deed was a reference to sex. Turns out you mean doing a poo.

Yes, in the absence of some sort of mental health condition, it’s totally, utterly ridiculous. But it takes all sorts, I suppose.

For the record, I make a point of only pooing at work, unless I absolutely have to. It’s a good opportunity to get paid while on the pot.

Tinatubby73 · 06/11/2025 19:20

I'm the same.can only poo on my own house

Heavyrainfall · 06/11/2025 19:20

Considering I need to poo at least twice a day in work and often before and after (I go at least 3-4 times a day - IBS) I’d be in trouble. When I get the call to go I get minutes rather than hours!

Pedallleur · 06/11/2025 19:24

Koolandorthegang · 06/11/2025 16:43

I know loads of people that won’t poo anywhere other than in their own home.

Regular post on MN. People go away for 1 week to 6 months and refuse to the toilet anywhere but their own home. Could be a 5* hotel Presidential suite but it's not happening. Me, I'll go anywhere but sometimes I think can I wait eg when on a flight.

LakieLady · 06/11/2025 19:36

therewasafishinthepercolator · 06/11/2025 17:22

I could never and would never poo at work. I can barely poo on holiday. Its a thing. 😔

DS is the same. DD can shit anywhere. I'm so proud of her.

I'm with your colleague but she really should have trained herself not need to go in work hours. She needs to sort "her routine".

I'm like your DD. It has never occurred to me that this could be something to be proud of!

I really feel for people who aren't so fortunate, it must be very restricting.

Littlebitpsycho · 06/11/2025 19:38

I'm one of these people. Boyfriend and I have been together a year and I still won't poo at his house, I literally drive home if I need to go. We went away this weekend to Wales, one night at his parents and one in a hotel and I refused to poo all weekend and waited until I got home. Public places are a no too, it has to be at home only

EleanorReally · 06/11/2025 19:45

i had a work colleague did the same
