‘Just the meat for me please’ Sunday Lunch issue ’

SIS and BIL coming for Sunday Lunch, bringing DN and her BF- recently engaged.
Got a little gift for them and card etc, my parents were coming any way so invited Sunday for food as makes sense.

SIS has just WhatsApped to say jokingly that the BF -mega gym bunny - ‘doesn’t do potatoes and trimmings- but don’t worry he’ll just pile his plate high with meat’
Im doing a couple chickens and a gammon between us all so plenty for everyone alongside stuffing, veg, Yorkies , gravey, cauliflower cheese etc but definitely not for a huge piled up plate of just meat!

I replied lightheartedly to SIS to this effect and she’s not a happy camper at all.
Just texted to say wants him to feel welcome so will bring him a couple of raw pork chops or similar to fry - I’ve said bring them cooked and sliced already in a Tupperware as I won’t be frying chops with all the carnage of the roast going on and my parents milling about under my feet ‘helping’

Shes voice noting at the moment can see the symbol
honestly am I just old or a shit hostess or is this how guests who barely know their hosts I might add expect to be catered for ???

I mean veggie/vegan all power to you
but a plate piled up of meat for lunch seems a bit full on to me ??

He sounds selfish AF. If you’re invited to someones house for dinner you don’t dictate what you’re going to do food wise.

Your’re not Scottish, are you OP.
😬

Pissing myself 🤣

Just marking my place to hear what goes down with “Meat Man” on Sunday.

It’s lasagne now x

Now envisioning him eating spoonfuls of meat sauce with a plate of discarded lasagne sheets while your Sis and niece feed him chunks of roasted meat from Tupperware boxes like a pet lion. 🦁

Are you sure she wasn't just joking? I'm sure someone visiting their partners family isn't going to just wolf down all the meat. Maybe he'll just serve himself a normal plate?

What we don't want to know is what's going to go down, quite literally, with him come Monday morning. A huge plate of meat and no roughage? Yikes.

Hundies100 · 08/11/2025 21:20

TBH, I think OP needs to post thigh and biceps measurements on Sunday so we can all understand exactly what she’s dealing with.

I am disappointed about the lasagne, not least because he must feel a bit weird about going to meet his girlfriend’s family if they are so mean. It’s one thing to not want to cook extra portions for one person but it is quite mean to cook a pasta meal knowing he can’t eat it.

InLoveWithAI · 09/11/2025 01:50

Looks to me like you changed the menu to purely be a dick.

😂

When my nephew first got into bodybuilding, my sister started locking the eggs away because he would literally do that (although they were scrambled or poached, not fried).

He's working now and buys his own lean chicken and turkey. And, yes, he eats vegetables.

But he can eat it (unless he has a medical issue); he just doesn't want to eat it - apparently.

However, as the OP has yet to meet the man in question, no-one knows if he's a food prima donna or a perfectly reasonable bloke who'll be a good guest who'll put aside his dietary preferences, eat the food he's offered and generally be good company.

I don’t get this. I’d someone I cared about was bringing a new partner who has cut carbs and was just eating protein, I’d buy and cook more meat for them. What am I missing?

Excited for the update - I was telling the family about this over Sunday lunch today 🤣. 7/9 people are gym regulars and we had a good laugh as we could all identify similar individuals from the gym with the favourite being referred to as ‘Mr Turkey rashers and eggs’ as he eats that twice a day every day 🫣.

Eagerly awaiting the update on the pet lion, as someone referred to him! 🤣🤣

whistlesandbells · 09/11/2025 20:25

Protein boy needs to go now… what happened? 👀 🤣

Mondaytuesdayhappydays · 09/11/2025 20:48

Right had a good old clear up and sar down to Squid Games!
Was great fun and everyone had a few vinos and beers. My parents only just give after some hard core lingering in front of the telly. Grand Kids ran riot mind (but that’s another thread lol)
Matey was a nice enough chap , the usual love island pink shirt two sizes to small and expensive daps with no socks 🧦 , hint of sunbed action but a really nice lad - nervous, and a bit tongue tied but eager to fit in and blend with my kids - (his future cousins in law is it?)
He’s Tee-total but he and DN brought a couple of alcohol free beers they drank.

Food wise he had some of the spin/ricotta lasagne-not sure it was to his taste- loads of salad (also the loaded cous cous ‘jobby’ one DD made) and coleslaw. DSIS brought melon, Parma ham, walnut and blue cheese as a side dish also which he finished off as there was limited uptake on that.
Passed on my mum’s crumble and treacle tart -fair okay I did too - but ate cheese and pate and crackers before they all left.
DSIS was quite highly strung as usual when the DGCs were in full fettel but soon chilled after a bottle of wine
So alls well that ends well folks!

The engagement is going to be a long one I think so no wedding breakfast to comment on yet lol!!!!
