I’m a female in my 30s.

Thus year I’ve gone down 5 stone from 12.5 stone to 7.5 stone (skinny minny!!)

The way I’ve sing this stick to 1300 calories a day and do one form of exercise a day e.g running for half hour or swimming for half hour or aerobics class.

I’ve also had a crush on a bloke in work and one thing definitely kept me on track with the diet/ exercise plan was saying to myself
“ if I stick to this plan today, I’ll be a bit lighter/fitter when I see John.” / this way of thinking has REALLY helped!! If you haven’t got a ‘John’ as it were, pretend that you do in a figurative sense.

how I stop myself from cheating in the evening is looking at TV programmes I want to watch or magazines/ newspapers I like. And any treats - going to spa at local leisure centre etc - anything that takes my mind away from eating!

Hope this helps at least one person in some way!

Good one lolly

How is that any of your business?

it would be so funny if the op forgot to name change, and then carried on posting on the WLI thread 😆

I have got myself down to 12.5 stone from 16.7 (since January). I can’t imagine being below 10 stone, people tell me I’d look ill (5.2ft).

I was originally a size 22 and now just about into a size 14.

I am on MJ but totally overhauled my diet and have recently started walking (walked 5 miles this morning).

I don’t really know where to stop, I don’t have a target and tend to go by clothes sizes. I’d like to be a 10-12 but just can’t imagine it. (Maybe because I have been big for so long) The weight I am at feels ‘slim’ to me after being obese for so long - I know that sounds ridiculous- and there is more to go.

Don't even know what my point in posting this is other than, technically I should be within the same weight range as OP but that seems so low (for me). Maybe I’ll just stop when I feel it’s right. I’m not sure about BMI? Should I be trying to keep within that as that would be probably another 4 stone off!

4 stone in 10 months is quite a lot of weight to lose. I bet you're feeling amazing.
Even though you know that on paper you could still lose quite a bit more. 10 stone at your height is just over BMI 25 and I very much doubt you'd look ill at that weight if you lost it slowly.

Maybe sit at the weight you are at the moment until it feels more 'normal' for you. It's all relative and personal to you and it's a long game.

You’d look ill at 5ft2 and 10 stone? Really?

LT1982 · 08/11/2025 18:57

Literally no one asked for your tips but you've got the attention you so clearly desperately crave.

Losing weight for yourself is great, doing it to try and entice a colleague to fancy you is tragic, as is calling yourself a skinny minny.

Ramallamading · 08/11/2025 19:01

If you were one of my friends I'd tell you I was concerned about you. As you're a complete stranger, you started your post asking if it was ok to share your WL tips, but just went ahead and told us anyway. Nobody wants to hear your bragging.

MerryTealLeader · 08/11/2025 19:40

i think it’s a brilliant post, OP. You make it clear that you are losing weight for you and you have been brave enough share the way this works for you via diet and exercise.
whether with a man or without, I wish you every happiness!

Iloveacurry · 08/11/2025 19:42

Well done op, that’s amazing

TheWickerWoman · 08/11/2025 19:49

@ArtSandwich
thats what I said! It was at a party last week with family I’ve not seen since May so I suppose I do look different but I think 10 stone would be a good target.

@BringBackCatsEyes
thank you - I do feel so much better - apart from I definitely feel the cold more now. 😄
I think I’ll keep plodding along slowly and see how it goes.. I am on maintenance dose of MJ now as my diabetic nurse said blood & health wise I’d got to where I need to - I can continue to slowly lose weight at the lower dose.

What exactly is brave about sharing that you’ve lost weight through eating 2x supermarket sandwiches a day and lots of Diet Coke? Unless of course you’re worried about being told you’re a fucking idiot…

They aren’t mutually exclusive? You can be those things AND slim. I also would t align with my DP if he’d been those things.

or are you saying that only larger people are not bigoted , amusing, kind etc?

Yeah but I was responding to someone who said they'd have not gotten involved if not slim, my point was I have lots of things I'm picky about but body weight isn't part of it.

Are you aware how unlikeable you come across? Genuinely wondering…
(not jealous as I’m also a ‘slim pretty girl’ but just wonder if you have any self-awareness?)

I disagree. I think you come across as a lot
of fun. It’s clearly lighthearted.

I'm 60. The weight had crept up and up until I was 10 stone 2 lb at 5'4". I lost a stone over 2 months by being in a calorie deficit and lifting weights/ strength training . The strength training 4x per week was crucial. My body has changed shape hugely. Strong core, no backaches, flat stomach. Ate 1400 calories a day. Now at maintenance level on 1700 a day. Weight has stayed steady at goal weight for the last 2 weeks .Still doing the strength training 4x per week. Lots of videos on you tube . Bought weights for women from Amazon. Now using husband's weights because mine are too light now .

How fit were you before you started the weight / strength training?

Pliudev · 03/11/2025 18:47

I've lost 1.5 stones in 6 weeks by fasting from 8pm until 10am and doing 15 minutes of chair yoga each morning. I also walk my dog 3 times a day, total about 80 minutes. I'm in my 70s and it's the first time I've lost weight without joining SW or cutting back hard on calories. If someone had told me I could do this so easily I could have saved myself a lot of stress over the years. I have type 2 diabetes as a result but my blood sugars are falling and, if I continue, the diabetic nurse reckons they will reach 'normal' in a few months. Try it, it works!

That’s amazing - well done.

Could you share a rough daily food plan ?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 09/11/2025 21:47

suki1964 · 03/11/2025 19:54

You know getting in a 15 min mile walk will push your TDI up? As will 100 skips on a rope ?

You dont have to be superwoman. I was 11.5 at 5ft 1 and 59 when I decided enough was enough

Size 16 jeans - 18 tops - dresses I had given up on.

Now Im size 8 jeans and all trousers , 10 - 12 tops

The only exercise I do is walk - about 5 miles on top of my steps and every now and then I jump on the rope or get on the bike to raise the heart rate

You really dont need to kill yourself with exercise. A 15 min mile will get your heart rate raised and will as much for you as a run - without knackering the knees

I can now do a Park Run - Walking - in 43 mins, Any time under 50 mins is classed as a run - I walk

Well done - and helpful advice too, thanks .

Its not rude
Shes insinuating that its because of the guy she has to lose weight
Because shes clearly one of these growing factions of women who like to blame the world's ills on men (i could quite confidently describe her appearance from her demeanour - but I wont as THAT WOULD be rude)

Its textbook (and pathetic)
Maybe, just maybe the OP is a little overweight and wants to lose weight for herself to feel better and actually be healthier

I think the poster has commented ‘rude’ because you posted ‘cringe’ at her post and not that of the OP. Read back.

Can I just say, congratulations on your weight loss 👏 you should be very proud, it is not easy, I am in a weight loss group and struggled as I kept emotionally eating due to bereavement, and it is hard. 😔
I am.5 foot 2, and just over ten stone three, but none of my clothes fit, and my asthma has gotten worse, because of a few extra pounds. I just want to shift a little, and feel a bit healthier when I walk. 🙏
I wish you every success 😇 and you are doing amazing 👏 it really is a great achievement xx

Literally why say this? What is wrong with you?

Why not say it? It’s a very reasonable query. 10st at 5’2” is clearly nowhere near underweight, so the comment about looking ill was confusing to say the least.

It’s a tiresome form of skinny bashing to refer to a lower weight than your own and make a thing about how shit you would look at that weight.
