I’m a female in my 30s.

Thus year I’ve gone down 5 stone from 12.5 stone to 7.5 stone (skinny minny!!)

The way I’ve sing this stick to 1300 calories a day and do one form of exercise a day e.g running for half hour or swimming for half hour or aerobics class.

I’ve also had a crush on a bloke in work and one thing definitely kept me on track with the diet/ exercise plan was saying to myself
“ if I stick to this plan today, I’ll be a bit lighter/fitter when I see John.” / this way of thinking has REALLY helped!! If you haven’t got a ‘John’ as it were, pretend that you do in a figurative sense.

how I stop myself from cheating in the evening is looking at TV programmes I want to watch or magazines/ newspapers I like. And any treats - going to spa at local leisure centre etc - anything that takes my mind away from eating!

Hope this helps at least one person in some way!

She admits she does drink a lot of diet Coke, but also eats 1300 calories.
The crude check I just did suggests a woman of OP's heigh doing moderate exercise needs 1500 cals to maintain.

200 fewer cals a day isn't starving yourself and I since most people under estimate what they consume I bet it's not even 200 cals.

nb I could be talking bollocks. I have NO idea how many cals I consume!

It’s the QUALITY and nutrition that are an issue in the OP’s case. They’re empty, processed calories that won’t be providing either the satiation or the nutrition

No we’re dating!! But so far it’s all been very chaste!! 🤣😊

Pity that isn’t ‘chased’ then you’d lose even more weight!!

Putneydad7 · 04/11/2025 18:10

Being single is great for losing weight, then you meet someone and it's all meals out and then cohabiting and cooking for each other even if you're not hungry.
I was 80kg when I met my wife, gradually worked my way up to 105kg 20 years later. Finally after years of trying and failing at everything from Atkins to Keto I went on the Mounjaro and now am at 81kg, so pretty much back to where I was in 2004. Sure it's a cheat, but the alternative was to divorce her and get skinny that way!!😀

Happily, my "John" thinks I'm just fine and dandy as I am.

Cringe

Thank you SO much for this! You are an inspiration!!

Lokiswife · 04/11/2025 18:58

I divorced my John!! (Yup, his actual name!!) & am overweight due to the metric tonne of medication I'm on, my ill health & mobility issues!!!

Crunchymum · 03/11/2025 16:55

But what if there hadn't been a John? Would you still be 5st heavier?

Will John like you if you get bigger again?

You do realise you should lose weight for yourself rather than John?

Edited

Not only do you sound ridiculous, but also a little jealous.

WildLimePoet · 04/11/2025 19:03

Why all the salty comments at OP? Is it jealousy?

Goddessoftheearth · 04/11/2025 19:06

Congratulations on your achievement! And good luck with John! I’m just jealous that I’m 49, menopausal and on HRT and would need to be -1200 calories a day 😂

NormasArse · 04/11/2025 19:08

I don’t know who would be jealous- her daily menu sounds miserable!

I lost 9 stone in one year. I just used black coffee, cigarettes and laxatives like a normal person

😮

I’m definitely not jealous. Just incredulous that so many people are congratulating op for her supermarket sandwiches and Diet Coke weight loss, which is as daft as it is dangerous. Since when do we congratulate stupidity?

Fair point. And 1300cals sounds very low to me.

August1980 · 04/11/2025 19:28

I admire your discipline!!!

well done. So what’s happening with John - send a pic so I can see if I can find one like him to inspire me….

Because the OP has lost the weight in the most unhealthy way!!

Existing on 2 supermarket sandwiches a day washed down with Diet Coke until you are ‘stick like’ to quote op, isn’t amazing. It’s an eating disorder. Why is everyone celebrating it?

youdoyoudear · 04/11/2025 19:53

Did John notice you when you were 12 and a half stone? If not, at what weight did he start to show an interest?

It would put some people off though. The bmi is well into the obese category. It's not even to do with looks. It's to do with health

You can't be that obese and still be healthy. I'm quite an outdoorsy person and I like to go hiking and for long walks. One of my friends couldn't manage this at all because of her weight which is a similar bmi to what she was. So if you meet somebody who's an outdoorsy person or he has outdoor hobbies it's a nogo. I wouldn't go out with an obese man because of that

Even my bmi is twenty seven so i'm in the overweight category.

Why does so many women assess their looks and weight on what the men find attractive. Some men like fat women, soft bodies and soft boobs well do they - who cares?! Why should that matter? It's about your body and what you want. Why does so many women factor in what men find attractive.

My response was based on the person saying men wouldn't find overweight women attractive. It's never been a factor or motivator for me.
