Partners daughter and her mother a nightmare

It’s a long one…

partner had a child when he was 15. He had nothing to do with the child or mother but through the years when he got with me they always tried to cause trouble. He tried to have a relationship but her side of the family hated it so he left it. Been in contact on and off since she was 15 and it’s been nothing but a nightmare( she’s 20 ) They don’t want anything to do with our children at all. They constantly cause trouble and think money grows on trees. I’ve supported oh all the way through but I’m always to blame if it doesn’t go right. Fast forward and she’s had a child. After years of abuse and threats we are starting to have a relationship. Again they hate our other children dont want to know them. Keep pushing ideas on expensive days out with grandchild. Phone calls consist of mother and daughter bringing up the past and trying to cause problems, or try to make out I’m the best person ever. They record everything use stuff against us and I’m so done with it all. I pay for everything and I’m fed up. I go and get involved but I don’t feel like they really want me there. They would be happy for other half to go alone. This happened in the past but he ended up cheating with her mother. Should I shrug it all off and just be happy with the situation or not. We have been together for a very long time and this has always been a problem.

Was with him from when she was 4 and the family where nasty pieces of work and he did try so hard but her mother wouldn’t let him

Bollocks. There's no such thing as "wouldn't let him". He should have gone through court and gotten regular access to his daughter.

He tried to be a dad to her but her mother wouldn’t let him at all

Are you going to address the cheating?

I can understand him not being involved with the child as he was only 15 when she was born.

Seeing his daughter and grandchild is reasonable, but if he cheated with his ex you should be clear that you don't want him to have any contact with her - that's as you've obviously decided to forgive the cheating.

You shouldn't have to pay anything towards the daughter or grandchild, if he wants to treat them, that's up to him, but if money is tight they'll have to make do with visits to the park etc. It's very sad that his daughter and grandaughter don't see the rest of your family. I think your DH should encourage it. Obviously not something her mother should be involved in at all.

Mother is a nightmare they come as a pair they are truly vile people. He’s a good dad to our children and trying to make up for lost time but they are hard work.

He tried to be a dad

When do you not make excuses for this man? When is it his fault?

I read it as he cheated with 15 year olds dm.
How old was he when this happened?

Sorry he cheated about 4 years ago before grand children came on the scene. I forgave him and we stopped contact as they are toxic but they never left us alone so this is where we are

Someone is vile in this scenario and it isn’t the 15 year old school girl who was abandoned with a newborn. WTAF.

Was he being a good dad to your children when he cheated on their mother?

Is he being a good dad to your children when they see the way he interacts (or doesn't) with his other daughter?

What are they elarning from all of this about what their future relationships should look like? What a good Dad looks like....?

Stop blaming others and accept that he holds a lot of the responsibility. Then decide what you're going to do about that.

She can't be that vile, if your partner is still up for shagging her lol.

I can’t make head nor tale of this story!

Your DH cheated on you with someone you call ‘a nasty piece of work’ but it’s his daughter who is the problem here?

No I’m just saying the mother and daughter are very deceiving they make fake facebooks to see what where doing and call and shout abuse at us. Just for the peace we have contact.

He’s lying to you. He’s just as toxic as they are. You honestly think the mother has been refusing access to their child for all these years but then suddenly welcomed him into her bed? You are not getting the full story here at all.

She wouldn’t put him on birth certificate and refused dna test when we offered as she had 2 potential fathers he tried so hard

He could have gotten a court ordered DNA test. He didn't try hard at all. He had 15 years to sort it out and he didn't.

I’m not making excuses at all for him we sorted out the cheating and got past that. We both have tried for her but there was always a barrier. I don’t like them as had years of abuse off them and it takes its toll as I’m the nicest person you could meet.

Sorry, have I got this right? Your partner of 16 years cheated on you with the mother of his child? And you're ok with that? And find it funny?

SweepLovesSoo · 03/11/2025 13:10

Of course they think ‘money grown on trees’ they have been bringing up your boyfriend’s child. It’s an expensive business.

Did you really just call your boyfriend’s daughter a ‘truely vile person’.

I think you should just end your relationship with him and focus on your children.
