This page I follow, she said she always changes her bedding on the last day of the month and reminded her followers to do the same....
I commented does she only change them once a month and she said yes unless they need before that.

I thought this was completely gross!!! I change mine once a week. Absolute max maybe 9 days if particularly busy etc

YABU- once a month is fine
YANBU - thats gross

Four times a year in my house - start of December for Christmas bedding, 1st of January to remove Christmas bedding, May-time to switch from a winter duvet to a summer one and October-time to switch back to a winter duvet 😇

Ugh. Revolting. You must stink.

Unless you are joking?

Showering daily is the bare minimum

not for me sorry if I was to shower every day my skin would be peeling and on fire. every second or third day for me depending in activity prefer bath over shower as can soak in soothing oatmeal before having to cover my self in cream and wait fir cream to soak before dress.

BlindSpotForCats · 02/11/2025 19:52

Oh Lord I just googled the Jonathan Ross showering thing. Apparently he and his wife shower less than once a week because it's a waste of time.

I feel queasy just thinking about it. Imagine being in an office with him!

I used to work with a woman who swore blind that no-one should shower more than once a week and you could smell her hair from across the room in a (small) open plan office.

I love how people are essentially arguing for lying in your own dead skin for a week as if it makes their argument 😂

I change my pyjamas every day. The odds of there being a bedful of dead skin every morning are pretty long.

That's kind of the point - people are saying 'you lie in your dead skin for 10 nights, I only do it for 7 nights'. The reality is were walking about with dead skin on us all the time. People being superior about doing it for a week are weird.

I think the weirdest thing about this woman is that she obviously assumes that her way is the right way and the only way.
And of course the assumption that some random individual on Instagram thinks she has a right to tell other people what to do.
Personally I change my bedding when I know it needs changing and I make my own decision. As an adult I dont need some stranger to tell me.

It sounds like it’s OP who thinks only her way is the right way and passing judgment on those who are not like her.

The instagrammer that OP watches could be the type who struggles with this stuff and has a following that like the reminders because they struggle too.

BlindSpotForCats · 02/11/2025 20:31

I struggle to remember this stuff which is why I change the Dcs on Mondays and ours in Thursdays.

I can recall Monday because that's my day off and I go to the laundrette to use the dryer. I recall Thursdays because that's the day our cleaner comes. I havr to hook activities onto other things as a guide tbh. Otherwise I would probably go for ages without thinking about it.

Perhaps OP does think her way is the right way
But at least she hasn't got the inflated ego to film herself and post it on Instagram to try and convince misguided impressionable people that they have to do what she does.

Once a fortnight is fine for us. We have showers every night before bed and clean nightwear. 😴

Draytoncb · 03/11/2025 17:59

DickDewey · 02/11/2025 12:57

It doesn’t have to be extremes. Such a tired old trope in response to basic hygiene standards. Not washing bedding for a month at a time is minging. The alternative is not washing bedding as soon as you look at it.

Once a week is just basic cleanliness.

Once a fortnight,but I sleep alone in a double bed.(Weeps)

coldiris · 03/11/2025 18:02

Once weekly for me but I couldn't care less if others prefer once a fortnight, once a month, once a year or once in a lifetime. It's not me who has to sleep in their beds 😊

Cerezo · 03/11/2025 18:05

ChessieFL · 02/11/2025 12:51

I get up at 2am to change mine. Anything more than 3-4 hours without changing it is disgusting.

You’re gross. I change mine every 55 minutes.

catlover123456789 · 03/11/2025 18:10

I try to do it every other week.

CosyFawn · 03/11/2025 18:17

What’s bedding?

Sweetnbooksnradio4 · 03/11/2025 18:17

You’ve had some funny answers! Good thread!

My desert island luxury would be clean (starched?) white sheets every day…

in real life- I pull the bedding right back every day to air, and it gets washed (at 60 C) once a fortnight

Dontcallmescarface · 03/11/2025 18:37

Mine get changed on my birthday and Xmas.....so once a year. I would change them on DP's birthday but I don't want to spoil him.

AlexisP90 · 03/11/2025 18:38

I change them when they need changing. In the summer sometimes weekly (DP sweats like an animal) winter maybe every 2 weeks or even monthly sometimes.

I also dont shower everyday. More like every 2/3 days.

Fresh PJS every night though.

To each their own really. I haven't had any complaints that I stink yet...

If your washing machine was out of order and you didn't have the money for repair or replace, I am sure you would find out that the sheets will not get up and walk out on their own if left for a month.

Winter before last I had no hot water or central heating. I went six months without washing my hair or showering. I used a kettle. My hair and skin were fine. The washing machine washed the bedlinen in cold and the dryer worked well.

GlomOfNit · 03/11/2025 19:15

Wow, a How Often Do You Change Your Sheets, You Filthy Mingers? thread. Original!

Sometimes I feel like I've been on MN a bit too long...

Greyarea55 · 03/11/2025 19:30

Once every 2 weeks. I would be forever washing and drying bedding if I done them once a week.

Airspice · 03/11/2025 19:32

I do mine every 3 weeks or so. I sleep alone, I shower before bed, I wear PJs, nothing wrong with that. If my bed was skanky I’d do it more often, but it’s not.

Weekly every Saturday

gardenflowergirl · 03/11/2025 22:28

Depends if you sleep naked or wear clothes in bed and how sweaty you get.

FeetLikeFlippers · 03/11/2025 22:32

YABU to follow a fuckwit on Instagram.
