This page I follow, she said she always changes her bedding on the last day of the month and reminded her followers to do the same....
I commented does she only change them once a month and she said yes unless they need before that.

I thought this was completely gross!!! I change mine once a week. Absolute max maybe 9 days if particularly busy etc

YABU- once a month is fine
YANBU - thats gross

This is one of the many reasons I deleted Instagram, Sure people can do whatever they want when it comes to changing bedding BUT these so called influencers are ridiculous. I don’t understand where common sense has gone. People can’t seem to think for themselves anymore they cooy whatever some tit is doing. Don’t get these wildy self important influencers constantly spewing out drivel.

Surely you don't take any notice of some self confessed ' influencer '..?
And once a month...???
What a minger...

Susgor · 08/11/2025 21:36

That's it

YourUniqueOpalDog · 09/11/2025 02:01

Some of us have self care difficulty and just maybe the influencer is doing a good thing to share a rule that we can imitate. Is hard to explain how you can become someone who (say) won't shower for a week. If you haven't done anything that would make you sweat or get dirty it doesn't feel the same as when I've been labouring. If you are sensitive to the environment and/or struggling with self esteem, it's something you just try and work on with all manner of things from counselling to visualisation to medication to checklists to everything you can imagine. I appreciate people who are encouraging and not judgemental. It's not a moral failing.

I used to do everyone’s bedding weekly. I have 5 DC so, you know, six beds. A lot of effort when working FT and with the sheer amount of washing we have weekly anyway, it got too much.

I now make oldest DC change their own fortnightly, although eldest is particularly stinky so sometimes his needs doing more. I change ours and youngest DC’s fortnightly ish too, youngest DC’s doesn’t really smell unless it’s been hot or they’re ill and sweaty.

Exactly.

UnderTheStarryNight · 09/11/2025 07:04

Change the bedding??!! Pish posh…I buy a new mattress, new headboard and new bedding…every morning. That’s after burning the previous night’s items in a large incinerator that I keep in a nearby wasteland for this sole purpose. In fact, if my husband farts more than once, I may incinerate the bed during the night and replace more than once. And for multiple trumps, I might just buy a new house.

newchapternewday · 09/11/2025 07:14

My friends twin boys came home in the summer from university to freshly made beds. My friend told them they were old enough to change their bedding and she would not be doing it. 4 months later when they went back she peeled off the bedding and threw it in the bin - now that is GROSS

Aslonbo · 09/11/2025 09:09

Depends who you're sleeping with.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/11/2025 09:17

The sooner we stop screwing over the planet by washing stuff more often than is necessary, the better. Likewise, owning more stuff than we need. I'm very guilty of having more towels and bed linen than any household realistically needs but I'm working on reducing it and I try to buy quality that lasts.
Once a month would really be pushing it imo but I think fortnightly works well. I do love the pleasure of a freshly laundered and made bed though!

BauhausOfEliott · 02/11/2025 13:02

DP does the laundry and I’ve never bothered to monitor how often he changes the sheets. Maybe around every three or four weeks? I don’t really care tbh.

4 weeks is gross though

AnonoMisss · 09/11/2025 16:09

BauhausOfEliott · 02/11/2025 13:04

Why does it matter to you how often someone else changes their sheets? You’re not going to catch anything from them.

By the same them why does it matter to you what OP puts on here?

GarlicBreadStan · 02/11/2025 13:34

My partner changes his bed every 2 weeks, I change mine every month (we don't live together) but only because we don't have a dryer so have to use clothes horses/clothes airers (whatever you call them) and other things take priority

Edited

I have a dryer but don't use it just out washing in front of radiator and change max fortnightly. But change pillow cases weekly.

AnonoMisss · 09/11/2025 16:16

Blanketfull · 02/11/2025 13:38

What do people think will actually happen if they sleep in a "minging bed"?

I change mine once a week(ish), but what would happnen if I didn't for a few weeks?

Easy to Google that abd micro biologists have spoken about people being mining loads of times.

AnonoMisss · 09/11/2025 16:18

TattooStan · 02/11/2025 13:43

We change our bedding whenever we can be arsed.
It might be once a fortnight, or once every 6 weeks - or longer, we don't keep track or have a routine.
We typically shower daily, and sleep with the windows open even in minus degrees, so we aren't really sweating.
It's not killed us yet anyway.

6 weeks is so so grim

Unless you're planning a sleepover at mine, just don't worry about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Ilovepastafortea Our Grandmothers used to scrub their door steps every day

My nan had many faults, but obsessive daily doorstep scrubbing was not one of them.
