I’m seeing it all over social media. Has Trump stopped the equivalent of benefits?

Can someone explain please?

Im all for the snap if used in the right way the same as i feel with UK benefits.
But for what ive seen women are going crazy over it.
Saying its the tax payers responsibility to feed their kid.
One saying she has 7 kids with 7 dads another with 5 kids why did they have more kids when they knew they was struggling in the first place.
Openly saying they scam the system.

I didnt help make any kids they choose to lay down so why should tax payers have to pay for them and fund them.

Where have you seen this? In the UK or the US?

😳😳😳

They choose to lay down.

About a mother of 7 kids.

No mention of the father at all.

On Mumsnet.

Wow.

deararethymountains · 31/10/2025 01:21

Democrats have voted 13 times to shut down governent. Republicans need 60 votes to open it again but only have 54. They keep voting to re-open.

Democrats have openly admitted that people not getting food stamps is because they have shut down government. They have said they are going to keep doing it anyway.

That is, entirely and in a nutshell, exactly what has happened.

Tryingtolikeyou · 31/10/2025 01:22

I have been looking on youtube at some of this omg.

Some need comdoms birth control and stop popping out kids.
sad part is some of these parents are scamming to get it and taking away from people that really do need the help.
Some women are saying they are going looting and will choose violence and rob homes. (good parenting that)

Its got to a point where others have had enough of paying the price for others.
Its like the uk in a way so many people claiming for sen kids when tbh their is nothing wrong with them.
It takes away the help and makes it harder for the ones that really need it.
So many rely on a system that can cut you off in one click.

Im sure it will all be sorted out but its us little people that have to pay to clean up the mess with bigger tax rises.

Sorry, what's your AIBU?

It’s a valid thing to discuss. Stop nitpicking.

Is there a legal limit that the government is allowed to shutdown for?

No and it happens more often than you think, they just come to a resolution quickly. This one looks different though which is why it is more widely reported.

You seem overall surprised at this when it isn’t unusual for it to happen (maybe once a term?).

GummyBearette · 31/10/2025 01:24

Surely it doesn’t affect uk folk, I’ve a daily battle with Parkinson’s, why trouble me with this?

Then scroll by.

You mean the birth control that isn't free?

This is why the village has disintegrated.
If people were starving my kids I'd Rob them too. What would you do out of Interest? Or are you so blessed that you'd never be in that situation?

What about the military, the government employees, air traffic controllers, the disabled, the elderly and veterans? None of whom are being paid their wages or benefits.

It is unusual for this length of time, it’s disingenuous to suggest it’s not. It’s also unusual that the Trump administration is holding low income people hostage from a food perspective when there are congressional funds available. The rhetoric the republicans are spouting on the reasons why are outright lies. The Trump administration's overall behaviour is outrightly not the norm and you should be well aware of that. FFS.

Nah. The Dems have openly stated that the poor people will just have to go without. Even the far leftist Washington Post admits that the Dems have said poor people will just have to starve.

"The right answer is to reopen the government with a clean funding bill, ideally for a full year, to get food stamps flowing and federal workers back in the office, and then have a debate about ACA subsidies," the Post editorial said.

"Democrats openly acknowledge that they refuse to do this because it would mean giving up their leverage. If they persist, it could mean families start to go hungry."

In a country where you can now be imprisoned for having an abortion?

Of course, but if men will dip their dicks without protection, they're responsible for the wellbeing of any children that result. But you weren't talking about that when you said:

We all choose our own way i choose not to bring another human in to a messed up world.
And the fact i like to be free also i new i couldnt afford a child.

Not the uk this was us i get what your saying should have made it clearer @coffeecrisp most of these women making these videos do have partners.
But the partners are just as bad, they say they are single mums as you get more free rent snap other stuff.
its an eye opener.

Starconundrum · 31/10/2025 01:48

I must confess I hadn't really looked into this.
I'm quite a lefty and into human rights but I figured America can look after Americans as theyre really wealthy. This is awful of me.

Of the 4 people I've asked tonight, 3 cited the woman with 7 kids by 7 fathers. So this is either a one off video that has gained traction or a propoganda video. One said it was disgusting that people got snap, but that she'd have issues feeding herself as she gets it 🤯

One of the men said it was a woman's job to feed the kids and of course father's and the state aren't accountable. A woman must feed her kids herself.

3 of these people are immigrants.
Of course this is a very small sample size, but all of the people claim to be leftist.

I can see why so many Americans believe that America might fall. I'm quite shocked tbh.

Not everyone has the privilege to make the choices in their life.

While we should take responsibility where we can, we should also acknowledge that some people are in positions where they can not.
