I asked because of this thread, I didn't understand some of the views expressed on it. But it appearsbthey are common. They're all in new York state, but only one is the city. Hence me assuming they were lefty.

I lived in the Midwest in the early 90s and I was shocked that it was absolutely 'normal' for anyone working for the state to not get paid for a couple of months in the summer. The bank would loan their pay to the workers who paid back the bank when the state caught up. I remember saying 'why hasn't Jennifer been paid?' and the response would be 'oh she works for the state' 🤷🏼‍♂️

I had a wee look and apparently 1, 1 person on the internet claims to have 7 children by 7 fathers and is receipt of $3000 of SNAP payments per month. Bear in mind SNAP can only be spent on certain things, that's a grand total of $12 and odd cents per person per day.

That is not a lot of money.

Of course they said they were left, leftist😵‍💫 and or immigrants.🙄

I don't understand this. I've met 3 of these 4 people. One is American/italian. One is native american, two are Latina.

where is your evidence of all these children with absolutely nothing wrong with them needing SEN support in the UK exactly ? Are you a medical professional with the qualifications to make those sorts of judgements ?

They amplified one very extreme case to excuse(?) justify(?) the cancellation of food benefits to the elderly, the disabled, veterans, children and adults currently working for free for the US government.

These Americans, who I would and always have taken to be centre left, were quoting that one tiktok about the 7 fathers 7 kids at me and acting horrified that their money (that none of them pay) was going towards SO MANY people like that. When it appears to be one person. And I'm not sure if it's just gone viral or if it was purposeful propoganda. Because they seem to have changed their opinion so quickly.

I am suspect to the veracity and timing of this tiktok. That lets not forget trump banned when he was last president and then let in again without telling anyone the terms of that.
