This horrific story just doesn't make the news. The ongoing slaughter of innocents appears to be largely ignored.

If you are unaware its Sudan and 2000 people slaughtered a few days ago.

No poll. Just posting to raise awareness of this tragedy.

Give it a rest, stop derailing.

She isn’t derailing though it is you that is trying to silence why is that.

CrossChecking · 30/10/2025 13:55

Really what is needed an I said this about Palestine too is a ban on arms sales. UK weapons are being used in Sudan, Israeli weapons are being used in Sudan because these countries sell to UAE for a profit. At the very least countries who can't stick to international humanitarian law, which bans the sale of arms where there is clear risk of diversion or use in war crimes, should be stopped from selling arms at all.

OverDram · 30/10/2025 11:37

And here we go!

What the fuck have you done? Why are you not dropping your march details for us to attend?

Stop using these wars as ammunition for your promises narrative.

It’s true though so why are you trying to change the narrative.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 30/10/2025 13:56

My colleague is Sudanese and I probably hear a bit more than most but I honestly don't understand it. It's complex and historical and difficult to just explain to someone like me. I know she gets very upset about it so I guess I don't bring it up too often.

I think it's fairly obvious why news coverage differs, we are implicated in middle eastern conflicts to some extent and our governments have some sway, not much. People in Europe are powerless when it comes to Sudan. If everyone of us protested today I don't know if it would make any difference or even be noted. Although I am open to being educated on this...

reem123 · 30/10/2025 13:56

For the people talking about where are the pro Palestine supporters. Pretty much every pro Palestinian social media account is posting and trying to gain support and help for Sudan. Muslim scholars are also trying to raise awareness and it’s being heavily reported with boycotts being encouraged to take place. I’ve found it largely to be ignored by mainstream media. Most of us who support Gaza are here for humanity and as a Muslim I will condemn whoever the oppressors and perpetrators are whether that’s the Israelis or certain so called Muslims.

Cinnamon77 · 30/10/2025 13:57

These 'oh look there's a genocide in Africa you're not bothered about' threads are just Islamophobic and baiting.

Yes I feel sad that there are people dying but that doesn't mean I'm going to shut up about Muslims being killed.

Also, what can we do about Sudan? We could actually lobby our government about Israel

HostaCentral · 30/10/2025 14:04

To those signing the petition, not me, can I ask what exactly you want the international community to do, and why you think it is our responsibility rather than the African nations?

You are derailing a thread about Sudan. What the fuck is your agenda?

It’s you trying to detail, seriously just find another thread or start your own about Israel.

Personally I want them to stop profiting off bloodshed. The 'international community' are more than happy to sell the arms that are used in atrocities in Africa and the Middle East. Why do we bother having international law when countries are more than willing to ignore it if it suits their agenda?

That’s good to hear.
Thank you.

FoxRedPuppy · 30/10/2025 14:31

But it is being reported!

it’s in the front page of the BBC news! And the Guardian.

Ihatetomatoes · 30/10/2025 13:33

As a mother the gang rapes of small children who need surgery afterwards is extremely disgusting. Yet ignored by many outlets.

Just horrific. It's also common to see them raping animals.

Where's Greta Thunburg and the Pro Palestine lot when you really need them.

Carolenarua · 30/10/2025 14:47

Thanks OP for this thread. I was wondering the same thing re coverage. It's too awful. I'll donate now to goal or trocaire ( based in Ireland). How are governments in neighbouring countries not intervening or anyone....

dressinggowns · 30/10/2025 14:48

I read about this the other day & in my ignorance didn't realise how bad it was. Very little coverage.

dressinggowns · 30/10/2025 14:49

The hospital massacre where the RSF murdered every single person in the hospital, was too disturbing for words. Men, women, children, no-one was scared. And they even recorded it.

wtf

ScrollingLeaves · 30/10/2025 14:49

It is almost beyond belief that there is so much blood it can be seen from the air.

It is horrendous that humans do this.

CoffeeCantata · 30/10/2025 14:51

JacknDiane · 30/10/2025 11:02

This is absolutely horrific and yet there is hardly any media coverage.
Why is this being ignored??

Is it because it’s extremely difficult to access the zone? Hence the aerial images?

I felt quite ill when I first read about it. I wonder if that's why there is so little discussion on it because it's just too horrific to even try and comprehend how people can be so evil. It's not ancient history.. this is happening now.

faffadoodledo · 30/10/2025 14:53

I’ve heard two extended pieces on this in BBC radio in the last few days. Doubtless there’s much more on the World service. But people don’t listen to proper news any more.
The reports I heard were proper chilling. Armed men going door to door. Reminded me of reports of the Rwandan genocide.
Marches tho? Nope.

How have I derailed by asking why you are derailing.
Its quite clear what your agenda is.

dressinggowns · 30/10/2025 14:55

The filming of the murders by the terrorists and putting them on the Internet shows how proud they are of there achievements.

The filming thing is truly disturbing. Is it to inspire others?

dressinggowns · 30/10/2025 14:58

@SomeoneSomewheree there must be an element of that. I don't want to read about that myself tbh.

I don't think that was OP's intention at all, although certainly there are people on here who have been trying to make it about that and make it divisive. And there are certainly some PP who have been Islamophobic and baiting.

I think it's perfect possible to care about genocide in Sudan and try to bring more attention to it without shutting up about genocide in Gaza or human rights abuses in the West Bank.

RE lobbying our government, I actually disagree with that. We can and should lobby our government about Israel. We also equally can and should, lobby our government about selling arms to the UAE who are funding the militias massacring civilians and raping women and children in Sudan.

When everyone pays attention and cares, things have some hope of changing.
