This horrific story just doesn't make the news. The ongoing slaughter of innocents appears to be largely ignored.

If you are unaware its Sudan and 2000 people slaughtered a few days ago.

No poll. Just posting to raise awareness of this tragedy.

This is absolutely horrific and yet there is hardly any media coverage.
Why is this being ignored??

This is what we've been asking ourselves on the other thread.
Is it an attitude to Africans, entrenched racism?

MonetsLilac · 30/10/2025 11:06

Thank you, @Ankleblisters for that link.

The hospital massacre where the RSF murdered every single person in the hospital, was too disturbing for words. Men, women, children, no-one was scared. And they even recorded it.

Oh my god.
Also, the rapes, of small children as well.

MonetsLilac · 30/10/2025 11:09

It's at times like this that I do wonder what the UN is doing.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and they are taking action?

Ihatetomatoes · 30/10/2025 10:13

I'm not sure it will generate much interest, but its a situation that is largely ignored. 🫩

Because all eyes on Rafah

I agree. It is shocking and no one cares.

Was there a protest? I missed that. I'm glad there was, because it does raise awareness.
I'm guessing central London?

Yes, I didn't know about it either. Its so horribly ignored I couldn't find it on any major UK news sites.

You can also email the FCDO about this by clicking this link: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/7956d01298289ec7a35e9e6ee66f106c238998fb

According to the website only about 400 people have done this yet, so please do add your voice. It only takes 30 seconds.

MonetsLilac · 30/10/2025 11:10

Thank you, @Ankleblisters . I'll keep my eye on that.
An African news website.

The UNare about as effective as a chocolate teapot. Look how awful they were in Srebrenca and Rwanda is considered by some as one of the UNs greatest failures.

FullLondonEye · 30/10/2025 11:16

I wonder if there's an element of compassion fatigue for this? I'm 50 and have been aware there are problems in Sudan since I was a child. Nothing seems to have improved in that time. Have we chalked it up to 'you can't win them all' and given up on the basis that it's a waste of time and therefore should direct our energies somewhere that we feel there's more chance we might be able to do something?

Before anyone comes for me I'm not saying this is right or acceptable, I'm just wondering about the reasons.

Well that's all true of the Middle East also, yet there's no 'fatigue' about that.

I can hardly bear to read this thread. Why no worldwide outrage? Why is it of no interest to MSM ?

Indeed. As George Clooney said to the UN about Darfur "this has been on your watch".

I don't know. It's just so horrifying.

nomas · 30/10/2025 11:24

This is horrific. Two of my friends from school were refugees from Sudan 30 years ago, sad to see nothing has changed.

nomas · 30/10/2025 11:25

PinkPonyClubDancer · 30/10/2025 10:43

No one gives a crap about this because they can’t blame Jews for this one.

Give it a rest, stop derailing.

MonetsLilac · 30/10/2025 11:27

Strangely enough, I got some information from the visit of Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh to the Chad Sudan border.
It was in connection with her support of the charities helping the victims of sexual violence. That article alone was deeply distressing. At that point I didn't know of the scale.
CRSV : helping victims of conflict related sexual violence (added).

Noodledog · 30/10/2025 11:28

Thankyou so much for starting this thread OP. I don't have much to say but it is horrifying and heartbreaking. Hopefully there are more knowledgeable PPs on the thread who I will be able to learn from.

HRTQueen · 30/10/2025 11:28

It’s absolutely horrific and needs to have more media coverage

I think the lack of media coverage is more to do with less interest from the public (few will feel a connection to the area) and less political involvement that other atrocities that have taken place recently

MonetsLilac · 30/10/2025 11:33

Someone on the other thread posted a link to Decolonise the Sudan.

Yes, I saw an article where she visited a medical team who had just operated on a small girl who had been gang raped . A Royal actually doing an important job trying to raise awareness about something horrific, unfortunately it didn't seem to get much attention. It's a shame a journalist- The Times has a lot of excellent female writers- couldn't make getting attention for what is happening in Sudan a personal campaign.

EsmaCannonball · 30/10/2025 11:35

Arabs deliberately slaughtering vulnerable black Africans or Christians is a politically inconvenient narrative, as is contemporary enslavement of non-Muslims in Sudan. No Jews, no news. This is not the first incidence of jihadists targeting a maternity hospital. It happened in Afghanistan and it nearly happened in the UK. It is beyond barbaric.

Can you imagine being on that medical team?
Sophie's work in this area needs to be publicised more, that's for sure. It didn't even make headlines.

Why don’t the Free Palestine lot bring attention to this horrific genocide? Where are the marches? Where are the flags? Oh yeah cause there are no Israelis/Jews to be in conflict with.

I can’t believe what humans will do to one another. Those poor, poor people. Heartbreaking

And here we go!

What the fuck have you done? Why are you not dropping your march details for us to attend?

Stop using these wars as ammunition for your promises narrative.
