Can you break wind around others or do you hold it in!?

Oddly, I cannot seem to relax enough to fart when around others but when I leave work I get in my car and suddenly there is loads of trapped air coming out with ease. Is this normal? I'm not purposely holding it in when around others, I genuinely don't feel the need but then when alone I can trump away.

Not sure which way to vote. I would never deliberately fart around anyone and think it’s good manners to hold it in until alone. Any other behaviour is pretty gross IMO

If I was at work, I’d do my utmost to hold it in and let it out when I go to the loo or outside by myself.

I’ll fart at home without a care in the world if it just my family at home.
I’ll fart in front of my best friend…..but that’s probably it! I’ll try and hold it in anywhere else 😂

There was a thread a wee while ago where the OP wanted to know how far into a relationship she could fart in front of her partner. I found it gross that someone actually saw farting infront of someone a sign of intimacy and affection.

We fart at home. In other company, no.

I wouldn't fart at work but I fart at home, it's very odd to me that there are people that would give their husband a blow job but not fart in front of him. I can't imagine how these people do anything sexual. There's nowhere more anal than MN, mind you they'd probably happily rim their OH but then faint at the idea of using his toothbrush.

I have Ulcerative colitis, so sometimes holding in a fart is agonisingly painful. So I let out a little puff into my cushioned chair at work. I have a private office, so its not so bad - but I have had to tell a colleague once or twice DO NOT ENTER. Its not nice and probably not that polite, but when its a medical condition theres not a lot you can do about it sometimes.

Do you do the sly look over your shoulder first to check there’s nobody behind? That’s what I do 😂

My farts smell quite fragrant but other peoples make me heave

Don't worry OP, once you get to around 50 sneezing acts like a safety release valve for every orifice.

I am not sure I would even want to give a blow job to a man who farts in front of me and does not give me the same minimum respect he would give his work colleagues or a friend, but each to their own.

Ive been farting all day in the office. Had delicious soup and it made me very windy! Didnt smell though, so i just kept on letting them out!

Around strangers, work colleagues or extended family, never. In front of my immediate family sometimes but I’d at least try and make the effort to fart away from them. Husband is the same. My kids have no such reservations unfortunately.
