Oddly, I cannot seem to relax enough to fart when around others but when I leave work I get in my car and suddenly there is loads of trapped air coming out with ease. Is this normal? I'm not purposely holding it in when around others, I genuinely don't feel the need but then when alone I can trump away.

I just don’t see why I should have to hide a perfectly natural bodily function from my family? I don’t pretend not to go to the toilet.

I use the toilet in private 😂

Of course I hide "natural bodily function" from my family, I wouldn't change my tampax in front of my kids or husband either! Poor kids.

Some posters are weird.

But do you lie every time you go to the toilet?

I’m perfectly honest and say I’m going for a poo, or tell them I’m on my period. Because they’re natural bodily functions. If I left the room every time I needed to fart, I’d never be able to watch the TV!

or do you offer the info?

Why are you so bothered?

Because you have asked a poster whether they lie when they go to the toilet 😵‍💫

Why does anyone needs to be told you are going for " a poo" or you are on your periods?

We teach kids from 5 that's it's already too much information 😂

It's not about lying, why do you even need to make an announcement when you go to the loo? That's just weird? Do you need to narrate every thing you do? Why?

Nolift · 29/10/2025 21:38

@HeavenInMyHeart :im going to the toilet
Family: to do what
@HeavenInMyHeart: a shit / change my tampon

whereas if i ever feel the need to tell family that im going to the toilet, they sure as heck don’t ask what for

Because she’s just made out like it’s not normal to say if you ever go to the toilet! It’s quite normal in our family to say we’re going to use the toilet.

I am very confused by the level of unwanted and unnecessary information some posters need to share! 😂

Yes, I expect a 3 or 4 year old to say they need the toilet and even that they need a poo, but an adult? Just ...why?

I certainly don’t hide that I’m on my period. Why on earth would I??

no one is talking about "hiding" but why do you need to discuss that at all? 😂😂

How is that even coming into the conversation?

I get the "I have period pains, I feel awful" ,but narrating where you are going (the loo) and why you are going there? Why? 😂😂

Nolift · 29/10/2025 21:41

why would i?

TheWibble · 29/10/2025 21:41

Mine don't generally smell and I've mastered the art of setting them free silently. So yes, I do let them out. No one knows if the can't hear or smell them!

HeavenInMyHeart · 29/10/2025 21:41

Nolift · 29/10/2025 21:40

I tell them when I’m on my period. It’s a natural bodily function and it affects how I’m feeling, so I tell them.

I’m not some dainty Victorian woman who pretends her shit smells of roses. I go to the toilet, I fart and I get my period and I’m not going to be ashamed of it!

Exactly

Happy to moan about period pains

but why would o just randomly announce im going to change my tampon, and not just… change it

I am trying to imagine my DH making an announcement every time he goes to the loo 😂😂

I'd think he's gone mad. And same for me.

What is “normal”

clarifying to family members that you are going to the toilet to take a shit / change a tampon?

or do family enquire?

Anyone noticed the ops not been back. Probably furiously wanking to all your holding farts in stories

No5ChalksRoad · 29/10/2025 21:44

Splendidbouquet · 29/10/2025 18:35

It shows you have manners OP.

There was a thread a wee while ago where the OP wanted to know how far into a relationship she could fart in front of her partner. I found it gross that someone actually saw farting infront of someone a sign of intimacy and affection.

That’s just gross and nasty.

we should be on our best behaviour with loved ones, not our worst.

I never said I would announce I am going to change my tampon.

but yes if we’re leaving a room we’re all sat in we’ll say we’re off to the toilet, or if we’re coming out we’ll say we’ve just done a poo etc

not everyone is weird about bodily functions.

Tbf, some people would find it weird to announce you have just had a poo. Is it to warn them before they go in or just...for info?

TessSaysYes · 29/10/2025 21:46

Isn't it normal to let it happen sort of discreetly, or in front of your partner anytime, accompany by with a heart felt apology of course.
I mean, why do that to yourself, holding it in all day🤣
