Was listening to some music today and after my playlist was finished Spotify went off on its own little algorithm-y journey, and I suddenly found myself listening to a song so beautiful I had it on repeat for about an hour. That sort of thing happens to me very rarely, so I thought I’d see if anyone else could recommend songs that have struck them in a similar way.

When Adele sang Someone Like You at The Brits, it hadn’t even been released nor had the album but you could tell everyone was completely captivated. I remember James Corden introducing it and saying everyone will be immediately transported to that relationship that never quite was (something along those lines), he was not wrong, it speaks to the core. Truly goosebump worthy.

@FlipFlopVibe That was absolutely spellbinding.

Nan's song - Robbie Williams

Had this played at my Nan's funeral over 20 years ago and it still stops me in my tracks when I hear it now. No one had heard it before and some family members went out and bought the CD just for that song.

There’s a Bears Den song that stopped me in my tracks and made me cry but I’ve forgotten the name of it it now 🤦‍♀️

One of the Longpigs songs always chokes me up and I’ve forgotten the name of that as well.

Is it Agape? I absolutely love that one.

Im sure someone's mentioned it by now but Annie Lennox Into the West. Reminds me of someone who was like a grandfather. He was sailor. And the grieving aspect, remembering my adoptive mum.

Moments of Pleasure- Kate Bush

Fuel to the Fire - Agnes Obel

I heard a classical piece on the radio - Spem in Alium by Thomas Tallis. I was driving and had to pull over. It sounds like angels singing. I chose it for my mum's funeral.

Taylor Swift, All Too Well- I was gobsmacked at what an accurate depiction of the breakup I was just going through it was.

Kacey Musgraves, Butterflies- this was our first dance because I first heard it when we started dating and it confirmed to me that I was with the right person.

The Kodaline cover of Latch almost had me pull the car over listening to R1 Live Lounge, it was so beautiful.

Snow Patrol, Chasing Cars. I was 12 and would hang around people’s radios hoping to hear it again.

Been mentioned a few times but This Woman's Work by Kate Bush is one of the best songs every written imo. Absolutely stunning. Wuthering Heights is also phenomenal.

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. I get shivers every time I hear it. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Bliejogs · 30/10/2025 05:37

Lady D'arbanville by Cat Stevens. (Specifically it was a live version with really raspy loud vocals)

First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes.

BusyDenimRobin · 30/10/2025 05:49
