Was listening to some music today and after my playlist was finished Spotify went off on its own little algorithm-y journey, and I suddenly found myself listening to a song so beautiful I had it on repeat for about an hour. That sort of thing happens to me very rarely, so I thought I’d see if anyone else could recommend songs that have struck them in a similar way.

So many songs on here that I love (and some I don’t know).

But I’m going right up to date to say Angine de Poutrine.

My DS said ‘come and watch this video, mum’ and I sat there transfixed for half an hour.

I’ve met Al a lot of times in my job and he’s a great fun guy too - one of the best lyricists ever, especially if you like history

Another total cracker - the Genesis lads wrote great songs together and individually , and you reminded me of one I missed off my list - Mike and the mechanics- living years

Lincslady53 · 17/04/2026 21:08

Heart of Mine, was a minor song on one of Dylan's least popular albums. It us ok. Just this week I heard thus version by Norah Jones and it stopped me in my tracks.

NeedWineNow · 17/04/2026 22:31

Broken by Jake Bugg does me. The way his voice soars is incredible.

Clawdy · 18/04/2026 09:06

"I've Lost You" - Elvis. "Who can point the moment love grows cold..."

BrickBiscuit · 18/04/2026 20:07

PurpleFlower1983 · 18/04/2026 20:54

This Woman’s Work - Kate Bush

maudelovesharold · 19/04/2026 00:07

Dog Days Are Over - Florence and the Machine

Heard it on radio 1 when it had just been released. I remember the driving beat at the line ‘Happiness hit her, like a bullet in the back…’ literally taking my breath away!
