Fans banned from match

WTAF?!

https://news.sky.com/story/maccabi-tel-aviv-fans-will-not-be-allowed-to-attend-aston-villa-match-amid-safety-concerns-13451240

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans banned due to safety concerns AGAINST them?

Since when is it ok to victim blame and penalise people who have done nothing wrong? Surely the right course of action would be either to ban ALL fans of both sides or better police the event?

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?

I genuinely can’t believe this has been allowed. Where does it end? Can Jews no longer safely access society? What if the risk is high elsewhere, will they be banned then?

What do you think? AIBU to think this is discriminatory and a slippery slope?

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be allowed to attend Aston Villa match amid safety concerns

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.

If there was a genocide who are Hamas shooting in the streets? Why don’t those extra judicial shootings bother you?

Generally you’ll find that those who are pro Palestinian always tend to skirt round the Hamas atrocities. Because there’s no justification that they can come up with. It’s abhorrent that they actually bleat about the killing of Palestinians, but apparently it’s okay for Hamas to kill them.

JHound · 16/10/2025 21:58

Why are you conflating “Maccabi Tel Aviv” fans and “Jews”?

HashtagSadTimes · 16/10/2025 21:59

Livelovebehappy · 16/10/2025 21:53

You seem to be saying that they should be given free rein to chant, be as inflammatory as they wish, and then get all huffy and offended when the police say Actually We can’t keep you safe in those circumstances?

pretty similar to what happens at pro Palestine marches in London each Saturday then…the Jews have had pretty much similar chants and abuse thrown at them..

But they aren’t paying money to be in the same place as them, whilst pissed, are they?

And just because it needs saying chants and abuse against Jewish people is also unacceptable. Jewish people should be free to live their lives peacefully.

Anonycat · 16/10/2025 22:00

HashtagSadTimes · 16/10/2025 21:48

No you’re not.

Were Maccabees fans in any way responsible for starting riots last year in Amsterdam by chanting disgusting anti Palestinian chants for the purpose of offending as many Muslims as possible?

You seem to be saying that they should be given free rein to chant, be as inflammatory as they wish, and then get all huffy and offended when the police say Actually We can’t keep you safe in those circumstances?

Have you completely lost all grip on reality?
Do you actually understand what it is those fans want to do?

If they behave badly they should be arrested. They should not be banned in case they behave badly.

Crossing an invisible line they didn’t know was there.

Of course they knew it was there. Which is why they converged there and played chicken with the Israeli military. Plus they were warned several times to back off before being shot.

Onmytod24 · 16/10/2025 22:01

The supporters are violent football thugs of the old-fashioned kind. It’s absolutely the right decision for the safety of all.

Onmytod24 · 16/10/2025 22:03

SunnySideDeepDown · 16/10/2025 20:36

But their liberties are being removed.

Why don’t they ban both sets of fans?

Because Aston Villa fans do not have the same history of violence

Underthebridge84 · 16/10/2025 22:04

They behaved appallingly in Amsterdam. Chanting things about dead Palestinian children.

and no I’m not anti semitic.

Because clearly that’s how Villa are interpreting it. They’re not being banned because of previous problems they’ve brought to matches. They've been banned purely because of the Israeli/Palestine situation, and the potential for violence between the two factions. That’s why…

Whats also abhorrent is that you don’t seem to care about Palestinians being slaughtered in their 10s of thousands (not an opinion, a fact) by the IDF (self defence!! Those toddlers are dangerous!!) but suddenly seem to care when Hamas start killing them (which by the way I completely abhor as well. It is possible to have sympathy with both the hostages and the Palestinian civilians…it’s the media that will make you think most people don’t. Most people
actually are capable of holding both beliefs.

From the posts on here, it looks like there of plenty of pro hooligan posters making the same mistake.

Disgusting decision. Religion is going to destroy this country and many stand on the sidelines cheering it on either in denial or ignorance.

Craftysue · 16/10/2025 22:11

Legia Warsaw away fans were banned for 5 matches for crowd trouble at Villa Park a couple of seasons ago.Uefa have banned away fans for crowd trouble, it's nothing new !

Disgusting response. Banning has nothing to do with religion but all to do with violent, racist, abusive thugs. They have a long standing reputation

Did you see the footage of them in Amsterdam? Why should police waste resources on policing avoidable violence. Kier Starmer has lost the plot on this

This is why people find pro Israelis abominable. They just want to wash their hands and forget and act like nothing happened but we will never forget. The world is disgusted and the tide has turned. You don’t get to forget you committed a genocide.

WE SEE YOU.

Fans banned from match
BluntPlumHam · 16/10/2025 22:21

Livelovebehappy · 16/10/2025 21:50

But they’re not being banned for causing trouble generally at football matches. They’re being banned because of tensions relating to the Israeli/Palestinian situation. I think probably their attendance at the match will invite a pro Palestinian march near the ground - highly likely with them carrying out a march in Manchester on the same day as the recent terrorist attack. They have no self awareness.

Nope they’re being banned because they’re a volatile bunch.

There is literally no similarity with this case.

In effect Muslims have demanded that no Jews come into their area and have threatened violence if they do. Mob rule has won.

vivainsomnia · 16/10/2025 22:27

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?
Ate you implying that not one single Aston Villa supporter is Jewish? Or are you being obtuse by refusing to accept that they are welcome as every other supporters because they are no cause for concern!
