Fans banned from match

WTAF?!

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans banned due to safety concerns AGAINST them?

Since when is it ok to victim blame and penalise people who have done nothing wrong? Surely the right course of action would be either to ban ALL fans of both sides or better police the event?

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?

I genuinely can’t believe this has been allowed. Where does it end? Can Jews no longer safely access society? What if the risk is high elsewhere, will they be banned then?

What do you think? AIBU to think this is discriminatory and a slippery slope?

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be allowed to attend Aston Villa match amid safety concerns

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.

There are plenty on the thread about MTA’s racist and violent ways, but you have chosen to ignore them.

Still no links to actual facts….

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 oh darling as I have said there are plenty but ignore them because you want to.Lots of PP have provided them.

I have a feeling I am speaking to a brick wall, please continue to live in your bubble, I hope MTA provided you with a fan of the month medal. I wish you well

Nestingbirds · 22/10/2025 10:32

Why do you think the muslim
locals were imprisoned? Why do you think there 68 arrests? And all the footage from Witnesses which included first hand accounts from police officers, and body cameras. The witch hunts against Jewish people is very real, Amsterdam showed us the despicable under belly of anti semitism. We won’t be allowing anything like that to happen here.

I am neither Jewish or Israeli, so have no skin in the game. I do however believe in tolerance, equality and fairness and won’t see any minority targeted or persecuted.

Nestingbirds · 22/10/2025 10:54

PevenseygirlQQ · 22/10/2025 10:46

What facts are you looking for exactly?

The number of people arrested and prosecuted and imprisoned were ALL Dutch local Muslims.

The number of people hospitalised and injured were ALL Jewish visitors.

You need to link through credible sources if you are suggesting something different.

CarlaLemarchant · 22/10/2025 10:55

Give over. You’re are evidently completely filled with hate for Muslims, particularly British Muslims. Whether you are Jewish or not you have adopted their ‘side’ presumably under the same motivation Tommy Robinson has.

You have taken on this football match as an opportunity to smear the Muslim community. You couldn’t give a shiny shit about public safety or whether there is significant disorder in Birmingham, as a result of how politicized this has become. In fact, I rather think you’d enjoy it.

Nestingbirds · 22/10/2025 11:03

When did I say that wasn’t true? If you read my posts again, I have not denied anything you have said? I have simply stated that you are refusing to believe that Maccabi fans are racist thugs and are also at fault for what happened in Amsterdam.

Because no Dutch were hospitalised doesn’t take away the fact that some MTA fans are again racist, hooligan, thugs, which many, many posters have told you and have provided links to which you have ignored.

Below is a quote of what I have said to you this morning:

“Yes MTA fans were hurt, yes some dutch people were anti-Semitic, yes some of them got arrested and yes MTA fans are racist violent thugs who look for trouble and also caused trouble, fought and caused criminal damage in Amsterdam ALL things can be true but you only seem to appear to want to blame Muslims”

I don’t know how much more clear I can be.

I’m going to leave it there because we are going round in circles and I’m not actually sure what else to say to you because you keep twisting what I am actually saying!

In this case it was a Muslim witch hunt, yes

You seem to be denying the fact those creating harm and chasing and injuring and ramming cars at Israelis were a Muslim mob on this occasion.

That is not to say the Israelis were not to blame for chanting and pulling down flags, but they don’t deserve to be injured and rammed with cars!

As it turns out the attack on Israelis was pre planned by the local
mob and racially aggravated, so whether the Israelis had behaved impeccably or not - the outcome would have been just the same.

Edited

Please tell me where I have denied it?

Or are you just upset with the fact I call them Dutch not Muslim? I think you have a problem with Muslims.

I imagine you would however take umbrage if I called MTA fans Jews not Israelis.

I think we should stick with the facts, they WERE Muslim. Fact. Are we going to start pretending they were not?

Sorry I draw the line here, this is clearly about Muslims for you and you do have a problem with me calling them Dutch.

You or I cannot prove all the people involved were muslim, nor can you or I prove all the Maccabi fans are Jewish. I’m not going to communicate with someone who is clearly racist.

Anti-Semitic attacks are not okay in any circumstances, I do not care if the perpetrators were Muslim, atheist or Hindu, its still wrong, however I’m not getting in Muslim bashing with you. You are part of the problem in this world and I will not be replying to you again.

5128gap · 22/10/2025 11:37

Birmingham could not guarantee the safety of its citizens and visitors if this were allowed to go ahead. BCC and WMP were clear on this. The people who live and work in Birmingham, cannot be put at risk in order for our government to virtue signal about being anti antisemitism. It is not discriminatory to ban fans of certain teams with a history of violence. This is a matter of preserving the safety of people and property. And if you were a resident, business owner, transport worker or commuter in Birmingham city centre or the Aston area, you may well be thankful that concern for your wellbeing was being prioritised over avoidance of offending people who can't tell the difference between rejection of football hooligans and anti semiticism.

Leadonmacduffs · 22/10/2025 11:46

bittertwisted · 21/10/2025 09:08

And how many times do we have to explain it is perfectly normal procedure to ban a whole fan base because of the behaviour of a few.
for those who still don’t get this concept, it’s like a whole class ban because 2 kids were naughty and won’t fess up

It’s because a small group of 10/15/20 out of several hundred can cause absolute chaos and panic if they’re violent. Stewards at matches are often voluntary or on minimum wage - they aren’t trained riot police able and willing to risk their safety to battle with violent men trying to reach oppo fans or attack players.
Violence breaking out can and does cause the equivalent of a stampede as innocent people try to get away, causes matches to end a people escape into the pitch.

That violence can also spill out into streets and around neighbourhoods by stadiums - we’ve all seen it.

Poster defending the ‘right’ of football hooligans come attend matches because they’re Israeli is mind boggling.

Why should we be paying for extra police to managed violent thugs from another country over just to start fights???!

Leadonmacduffs · 22/10/2025 11:48

And as for whether those fans are white, black, British or Israeli or Muslim or whatever - it’s IRRELEVANT. If a club can’t keep its violent fans away from matches there are consequences.

Nestingbirds · 22/10/2025 12:41

The perpetrators and those imprisoned for anti semitic attacks on Jewish fans were both Dutch and Muslim. They were organised in advance on social media.

The fact they are Muslim only matters because the crimes were racially/religiously motivated, and not a case of Dutch Jewish citizens attacking Israeli Jewish citizens. If a crime is committed it needs to be proven that it was religious or racially aggravated, because this makes the crime more serious.

If this was the other way around, we would rightly be insisting Muslim fans are protected.

All matches would be cancelled indefinitely if we decided not to fund police, as hooligans exist in many clubs.

Nestingbirds · 22/10/2025 13:00

Oh and just to say the reason why this is so sensitive is due to the innocent British people from the Jewish community losing their lives in Manchester, and the countless anti semitism attacks that are taking place. Of course we would expect our government, as they have done, to ensure we are stamp this out in every form.

I draw your attention to the anti semitic issues:

‘In October 2022, MEE faced scrutiny when it was revealed that Shatha Hammad, a Palestinian Arab journalist associated with the outlet, had made antisemitic remarks on social media in 2014, including praising Adolf Hitler.[42][43] Following these revelations, MEE terminated its association with Hammad.[44]’
