Fans banned from match

WTAF?!

https://news.sky.com/story/maccabi-tel-aviv-fans-will-not-be-allowed-to-attend-aston-villa-match-amid-safety-concerns-13451240

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans banned due to safety concerns AGAINST them?

Since when is it ok to victim blame and penalise people who have done nothing wrong? Surely the right course of action would be either to ban ALL fans of both sides or better police the event?

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?

I genuinely can’t believe this has been allowed. Where does it end? Can Jews no longer safely access society? What if the risk is high elsewhere, will they be banned then?

What do you think? AIBU to think this is discriminatory and a slippery slope?

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be allowed to attend Aston Villa match amid safety concerns

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.

Did Ukrainians storm Russian towns, slaughter 1200 people and kidnap innocent civilians, returning some alive 2 years later and some dead bodies, some yet to be returned?

No?

Did you see the footage of them in Amsterdam? Why should police waste resources on policing avoidable violence. Kier Starmer has lost the plot on this

So why are police resources being wasted on the Palestinian/ left wing hate marches taking part up and down the country every week.

Are you saying the UN and the IAGS are wrong and lying?

IAGS don’t make me laugh. As for the UN.
I understand they are trying to change the definition of genocide so they can claim that against Israel.
Yeah ok ..

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/sep/09/the-gaza-family-torn-apart-by-idf-snipers-from-chicago-and-munich

"Five-month investigation reveals how four members of one family were shot and killed in a single day and highlights a pattern in which Israeli troops target unarmed civilians.

Daniel Raab shows no hesitation as he watches footage of 19-year-old Salem Doghmosh crumpling to the ground beside his brother in a street in northern Gaza.

“That was my first elimination,” he says. The video, shot by a drone, lasts just a few seconds. The Palestinian teenager appears to be unarmed when he is shot in the head.

Raab, a former varsity basketball player from a Chicago suburb who became an Israeli sniper, concedes he knew that. He says he shot Salem simply because he tried to retrieve the body of his beloved older brother Mohammed.

“It’s hard for me to understand why he [did that] and it also doesn’t really interest me,” Raab says in a video interview posted on X. “I mean, what was so important about that corpse?”

Do you really believe the ban is due to the threat the Maccabi fans themselves pose or do you think it is because of the threat posed by those who oppose them?

If you’re not sure of the answer you might want to check out some of what the local MP has said and written. It’s most enlightening.

Yes I do.

Marching through Amsterdam shouting 'there are no schools in Gaza because the children are all dead '
Disrespected a minutes silence for the victims of the Valencia floods.
Laughing, mocking and letting off fireworks, showing no respect or care. Proud of their ignorant behaviour.

Making mon*ey noises and shouting racist commentsm directing them at black and Arab players on a regular basis.
Sing racist chants regularly, loudly and proudly as they say themselves.

TBH if anyone with their confirmed reputation came into my community and behaved as they have done many times in the past I would be support a ban. I would have no hesitation defending my community in such circumstances.

PurpleChrayn · 16/10/2025 23:12

It’s shit.

It’s why I and a lot of other Jewish people are making plans to leave the UK.

This was the purpose of the thread to begin with a little night time Muslim bashing.

So anti semitism is ok but if Muslims cause problems then it is Muslim bashing.
I see, I get you now.
Jews = bad.
Dont mention anything bad Muslims do and if you do you are racist.
No wonder the grooming gangs got away with raping thousands of white children around the country.

Jews are allowed to the football match. There is no ban on Jewish people. Just fans of an Israeli football team who have form for being disrespectful, racist, hooligans. Why are Muslims being brought into this conversation at all, what have they done here, did they ban Macabi fans?

@Livelovebehappy the situation here is that it’s a big game. These Europa League games always are. They’re evening matches too, so there’s a big build up, and lots of drinking to be done beforehand.

The people who make these decisions (not Aston Villa FC) have essentially risk assessed the situation. They’ve got a large local Muslim population, some of whom are no doubt violent thugs who love nothing more than a good fight. And they’ve got a visiting team with a fan base that is known to be violent, destructive, and anti Muslim.

In the middle of this they’ve got peaceful locals who have no opinion either way, may not even care about football, and just want to go about their day as usual. And they’ve also got police who need to be dealing with other crimes across the city that day. They’ve got local businesses who don’t want riots on the streets and their windows broken.

Of course the decision might be different if it wasn’t for the Isreal Palestine conflict, because although there’d be some fighting and thuggery, it would be more of the “usual” football stuff. Less emotionally charged than it is now. But that doesn’t make the decision antisemitic. It’s a sensible logical decision made to avoid more conflict.

The Tel Aviv team will have plenty of home games in the tournament, so they won’t go short of football.

This is spot on. Apart from the last line as MTA aren’t playing their home Europa fixtures in Israel as it is deemed unsafe so they’re playing home fixtures in Serbia.

No I understand and agree with that.

No one owns the term genocide.

But people are very quick to throw it at Israel who were trying to eliminate Hamas not Palestinians..
Unfortunately there is so many Jew haters on MN who like to throw that term about as if they own the term.

As Kemi Badenoch said: the government has effectively acknowledged that there are 'no go' areas for Jews in this country.

Let that sink in

It is utterly despicable, and any right minded person should be appalled.

Are you really saying this to someone Jewish, who is so appalled by the Jew hate in this country she is thinking of going to the only place that is a Jewish homeland, specifically set up because of the banishments of Jewish people the world over.
The fuck where do you think Jewish people should go.
Or are you really actually saying they should not exist.
Fuck me.

The police are saying that if the fans come, they will be attacked by antisemites. So it pretty much is a ban on Jews, dictated by a mob who the police refuse to deal with, community cohesion blah, blah, blah.

If the police won't do their fucking job, we should get the army on the streets.
