Be honest!

These threads usually attract replies from busy mums saying ‘aubergine orzo with lemon chicken’ and I think ‘from scratch, at 5pm, with 2 hungry kids??’

Please let me know!

I have a chicken tikka ready meal to go in the microwave but I don't think I can even be arsed to cook that, so it might just be a peel and serve salad left in the box

Autisticburnouthell · 15/10/2025 17:50

Chicken casserole and dumplings. Made from scratch, well the suet came out of a box. But I’m a sahm and put it in the slow cooker.

zipadeedodah · 15/10/2025 17:52

Lasagne, made from scratch

gingercat02 · 15/10/2025 17:52

DH cooks on a Wednesday so I will be amazed if it isn't something with Sausage.
Sausage and mash and veg
Sausage and wedges and beans (not beast autocorrect)
Sausage pasta
Sausage casserole
He CAN cook other things but it seems to have become sausage Wednesday.
I'll tell you when I get back from pilates. It will be homemade (apart from the sausages)

HansHolbein · 15/10/2025 17:53

Chilli con carne, jacket potato, and salad. Yes, the chilli is from scratch - been in the slow cooker all day.

KittyRannaldini · 15/10/2025 17:53

Lentil, barley and mushroom casserole with sausages and cabbage.
Casserole was done in the slow cooker, everything else cooked now.

Chocolate sponge: in the oven as we speak.

Readingallthetime · 15/10/2025 17:54

We are having an easy dinner tonight - faggots from the freezer and mash and cabbage 🤣 it's going to be delicious!

Xiaoxiong · 15/10/2025 17:54

Just me and DH tonight so I've got us a ribeye steak, pot of peppercorn sauce, a bag of rocket and I'll make potato wedges. Nice bottle of red and Slow Horses and it's the perfect at-home date night.

Previous meal with the kids was taste the difference burgers I got on a yellow sticker, oven chips and salad.

meatyryvita · 15/10/2025 17:54

Steak and chips (it's DH's birthday) for DH and DS. DD will likely have a chicken thing from a box with chips and I'll find something veggie. We do tend to cook from scratch normally; dishes like chilli, poke bowls etc.

youalright · 15/10/2025 17:54

Spag bol with a jar of dolimo sauce and packet garlic bread it was delicious if I do say so myself

Kim82 · 15/10/2025 17:55

Zinger chicken burgers, hash browns and corn on the cob. Tescos own hash browns, frozen corn on the cob and the burgers were from the butchers. Nothing cooked from scratch by me, just thrown into the oven. Can’t be arsed cooking today, had a full on day at work and I’m tired. Dd11 is extremely happy with the offering.

Oldraver · 15/10/2025 17:55

Crosta Mollica pizza ( only had one once before and was lovely and cheesy coleslaw

I've eaten half the coleslaw already

Lavatime · 15/10/2025 17:56

Pizza...in a box from Pizza Hut- can't be bothered to cook or wash up today

Icreatedausernameyippee · 15/10/2025 17:57

Beans on toast for one, nuggets, chips and carrots for another and fajitas for the other two.
Not sure I can be bothered to feed myself 🤷‍♀️

redfairy · 15/10/2025 17:57

Rice, roasted veg and chicken coated in a chicken bebab mix from a packet. Gorge!

Starlight40 · 15/10/2025 17:58

Chicken Kiev, chips and peas.

soupyspoon · 15/10/2025 17:58

Home made chicken and broccoli soup with a bit of home made bread

Despite it being home made, it was low effort as I use a soup maker, the juice is from chicken I cooked up the other day which I save as liquid for the soup, frozen broccoli, frozen parsley, frozen sofrito. Dumped straight in the soup maker

Bread is no knead bread

And despite it all being home made its the sort of things a lot of posters on this site get sniffy about. Soup for dinner? Boring, not substantial, not a dinner, not enough blah blah blah.

TheBirdintheCave · 15/10/2025 17:59

We’re having gyudon made from scratch. I work from home so prepped the ingredients at lunch. I’ve just got it all going now with a 16 month old velcro baby attached to me 🙄 Four year old is watching tv in the living room.

soupyspoon · 15/10/2025 17:59

And tomorrow night will be ready made stuffing from last Christmas, carrot and swede mash out of a tub and baked beans.

00deed1988 · 15/10/2025 17:59

Husband made dinner as I am on nights. Chinese chicken curry with a powder and microwave rice. I have just put some broccoli and green beans in the microwave to steam to add to mine to bring to work. Going away on Friday so using the dregs of what is left in the fridge!

To be fair that can be made in half an hour, however, back to the question, im having lentil, veg and lemon soup when I get home. I made it last night. I just have to add cream.

ThePoshUns · 15/10/2025 18:00

I made honey beef noodles in my slow cooker. Prepped it last night, chucked it on this morning.

EllaPaella · 15/10/2025 18:00

Kids had pizza (definitely not homemade 😁) with cucumber, carrot sticks and red pepper on the side. DH and I will eat together later - it’ll be tortellini with a wild mushroom sauce I cook myself. Mushrooms sauted in butter with garlic, tarragon, salt and pepper. Add a large splash of white wine, reduce down and add some creme fraiche, a tablespoon of Parmesan then stir into the cooked tortellini 😋

Lynz301 · 15/10/2025 18:00

We’ve got a hello fresh - veggie chilli. Feels v similar to last nights dinner So debating a takeaway and keep that for dinner on Friday!

Carzycat · 15/10/2025 18:00

Home alone.
Salmon roasted with sliced onion for 15 mins, tenderstem brocolli and spring greens, french lentils (packet from Lidl)
