What are Hamas playing at?

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

The IDF shot 5 civilians yesterday maybe read more news.
I am not defending hamas or their actions by the way, they are scum.

I think context is needed here. IDF shot people who were posing a threat to those around them with their actions. The Palestinians shot (by their own Regime) were killed in a public execution because they were thought to have been collaborating with Israel. Whether they were or not, we’ll never know, because they didn’t get a trial.

I’m not sure Hamas have any intention of cooperating.

This.

They are terrorists. They lie and manipulate and are not to be trusted.

This.
But I'm sure lots of people will be along to defend them.

Always. Usually starts off with ‘Hamas are awful, but……’

What were they doing to warrant being shot dead?

Posing a threat to those around them with their actions.

Newsfeeds yesterday suggested they were attacking Israeli soldiers, acting against the newly set out cease fire process.

Can you show me the link where it says they were attacking the soldiers? That does not match what sky news reported last night. My understanding is they were unarmed and crossed the imaginary "yellow line"

willowtree99 · 15/10/2025 09:29

Im more concerned about the 9000 hostages who are still alive, including over 300 children that are still being held, especially with the signs of torture that many of the released hostages showed when they were released.

I hope the remains of deceased hostages who were bombed in Gaza can be found amongst the rubble and returned, but the priority should be the living.

Hoodedfinger · 15/10/2025 09:30

elprup · 15/10/2025 08:50

They always said that they may not be able to locate all the bodies and that was acknowledged in the ceasefire deal.

Do you have a link for that, @Rickrolypoly? I don’t recall seeing it mentioned anywhere in the news reports on this.

Even Israel acknowledged beforehand that it might be impossible to return the bodies. You haven't seen it because you've only seen selective news.

CNN article.

Even if these poor souls were given the most respectful burial (which is agree is unlikely in view of the sheer numbers of bodies in Gaza) how one earth would you retrieve them from under all that rubble?

Israel assesses Hamas may not be able to return all remaining dead hostages, sources say | CNN

Israel assesses that Hamas may not be able to find and return all the remaining dead hostages in Gaza, according to three Israeli sources, a fact that may complicate efforts to reach a deal to end the war.

Hoppinggreen · 15/10/2025 09:33

I very much doubt Hamas carfeully stored the bodies of the hostages and even if they kept them there has been so much bombing that it may be hard to access/find them.

Upstartled · 15/10/2025 09:33

Terrorists are going to terrorise.

NikkiPotnick · 15/10/2025 09:33

I think there might be something other than numbers of dead mitigating against dead Israeli hostages being given a respectful burial in Gaza, tbh...

Hoppinggreen · 15/10/2025 09:33

Rickrolypoly · 15/10/2025 09:22

What actions?

Not being dead I assume?

Whammyyammy · 15/10/2025 09:35

Hamas have zero intention in returning them, and zero interest in peace.
See how quiet all the free Palestine gang are?

Israel don't want peace. They just want the land and for everyone currently on it to die.

No link. Just news coming through. Unfortunately, we’ll never know if true or not will we? No footage. Just hearsay. Could just be more propaganda, and let’s be honest there’s been a lot of mis information (lies) coming from Hamas and the Palestinians in the last two years…..🤷‍♀️

They’re not quiet, some of them are now minimising the experiences of the hostages who were taken by Hamas.

Everanewbie · 15/10/2025 09:42

Islamist terrorist organisation that planned and committed 7 October 2023, and have a stated aim of the total destruction of Israel and Jews, who execute their own with machine guns, and parade the raped and mutilated body of a young woman through the streets for the cheers and admiration of the "innocent ordinary Gazans" turn out to be somewhat untrustworthy?

Never would have fucking guessed.

soupyspoon · 15/10/2025 09:45

BeeKee · 15/10/2025 08:45

Hamas is a terror organisation. They have no desire for peace. They don't care at all about the Palestinian people.

Correct

And the reality is many if not most Gazans and Palestinians overall, support them and their aims.

Ive been saying this for these past couple of years and get shouted down for being racist, Islamaphobic, blah blah blah.

When supporting 'pro Palestinian' marches, causes, narratives, supporting recognition of a state, this is what people are supporting, terrorism and death.

CrossChecking · 15/10/2025 09:46

Was it not known for days that Hamas wouldn't be able to find all of the bodies, I'm sure I read this a week or so ago? Why is it coming as some kind of shock now that they can't? It's not like there are landmarks left that they can use to help find them. I'm sure they will be found in time along with the 1000s of other bodies that are currently sadly lost in Gaza.

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 15/10/2025 09:49

Yes, it was. Even Israel acknowledged that.

Both sides are as bad as each other, all points scoring and no concern for the civilian population.

Hamas are terrorists and deserve absolutely no "understanding", but those on the other side are gleeful in the "gotcha" of them not being able to return bodies, which was always impossible.
