What are Hamas playing at?

elprup · 15/10/2025 08:13

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

Israel denies this charge - Yes people who commit apartheid aren't usually jumping up and down to admit it 🙄

And again it always goes back to Arabs living in Israel. We are talking about Palestine, Israel commit apartheid and racial segregation in Palestine as found by the ICJ.

What is the position of the ICC now US has sanctioned two of its judges?

and others seem to have been discredited.

US Sanctions Two Additional ICC Judges and the Court’s Deputy Prosecutors

The United States government has designated four additional International Criminal Court (ICC) officials for sanctions, under an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in February 2025.

Not to be confused with International Criminal Court investigation in Palestine, South Africa's genocide case against Israel,

Ah its more complicated than I thought. Two cases at the ICJ and one with ICC.

Well, we all know that South Africa is rather 'close' to Hamas

Yup - Our leaders are getting threatened with US sanctions everyday.

Even one of our telecoms companies are being sued by the US with our President having sat on its board at the time of the Afghan Iraq war between 2005 and 2010.

Iran and its allies are our best friend apparently.

When I use words like apartheid like the ICJ, the world's highest court. You can sit in denial but like I said that's a huge part of the problem, Israelis denial that they are committing horrendous crimes against Palestinians. Apartheid and racial segregation is awful, it shouldn't happen yet it does every single day to Palestinians in their own land so that Israel can further their goal of a 'Greater Israel'. If Israelis has a fraction of the outrage that they have towards being accused of awful crimes as they do towards the awful crimes their state has committed against Palestinians then I don't think we would be where we are today.

There is so much to pick apart here. Again, I would love to reply to you but I know it won’t make a difference because I can see the language you use and I can’t convince you to suddenly understand what’s going on. It’s just upsetting for me and I prefer not to argue about it.

@Jujujudoare you there in Israel? Sorry if I’ve mixed you up with someone else. I appreciated the insight if you are.

I’m married to an Israeli so I’ve been back and forth - at the moment I’m in Israel.

@CrossChecking "When I use words like apartheid like the ICJ, the world's highest court. "

"The world's highest court", my fat aunt !

The ICJ is just a talking shop and a toothless watchdog. The ICJ possesses no formal enforcement mechanism.

Human rights organizations and Israeli critics claim that Israel mistreats Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Many allege this treatment equates to apartheid. Israel denies the charges.

Apartheid is a serious accusation that should meet legal standards. Thus, while Israel’s policies haven’t changed, the charge of apartheid is something new.

Though Israel isn’t an apartheid regime, there have been lengthy, ongoing debates among some in the global community about whether Israel’s policies are discriminatory.

Currently, over two million Arabs are Israeli citizens who enjoy equal rights and privileges.

Ask them how many Jews will live in any future Palestinian country. Ask them how many Jews or Christian’s live in Indonesia, in Iraq, in Saudi. Ask them about that thing that women aren’t allowed to speak in public in Afghanistan. Ask them if they know how many Jews live in the world and what exactly they would do with a “greater Israel” whatever the eff that means. The double standards and vitriol can’t be taken seriously. Does my head in!!

I was totally baffled as to why your post was deleted. 🤔

IMO it was factually correct and you made a good point.

Maybe ask Mumsnet HQ ?

NotrialNodeal · 16/10/2025 12:49

@Jujujudo I don't know what you wrote but someone who disagrees with you will have reported it and mumsnet have taken it down. They have great form for that. I personally think everyone should be able to write whatever they want and let it stand to be read. People will have their own opinions and may not like what they see but nobody has the right not to be offended!

Convince me that there is no apartheid and racial segregation? Yeah you'd have a pretty hard time doing that alright when all of the evidence points to the contrary. Apartheid and racial segregation are upsetting I agree. Seeing people treated awfully because they were born Palestinian, denied basic rights because they were born Palestinian, it's upsetting, that's why so many people have been making so much noise about it.

The ruling party is collapsing before our eyes right now. Currently massive scandal with corruption within the police and organised crime syndicates infiltrating all levels of government. Our alignment with Iran and its allies is just another international diplomatic failure. It has been 30 years of rule by the liberation party here and all they have done is steal and make their own people poorer. I hope that these people start exercising their voting rights in a way that will bring positive change to the country.

We used to be the darling of the world. The rainbow nation. That is long gone. Trump didnt even invite our president to Egypt for the signing of the ceasefire deal yet our government thinks that taking Israel to the ICJ puts them in good global standing whilst we visit Iran, harbor sanctioned Russian aeroplanes and have cargo ships that come and go from our naval bases in the night. Our government is only interested in saving itself.

Such a shame that your government is so rotten when the country itself is so beautiful and amazing, plus all the locals we met were so welcoming and nice to chat to. The people deserve so much better.

@Cheeks4970 "I am staunchly pro-Palestinian. And no, I will not be silent now, we will keep going until Palestine is free and the occupation has ended."

The only "occupiers" are Hamas, which Israel was trying to remove.

a comment like this means you know zero about the occupation

Cheeks4970 · 16/10/2025 14:02

Namelessnelly · 16/10/2025 05:24

Have you seen the harrowing footage of Hamas executing people in the streets? Palastinian people? Why is that their priority? Why not organising the rebuilding and care of their Why are they more interested in killing people than rebuilding their government? What makes you think Hamss wants an end to this conflict?

the people they were executing were people from Israeli-backed groups who were executing other Palestinians - go and read about the killing of journalist Saleh Aljafarawi and then you might start to understand (that's just one example).

@CrossChecking when you say there’s apartheid in Palestine - what do you mean? Because in Israel there are 2m Muslims with equal rights, we all live together. Where do you mean? The only segregation I’m aware of is that Gaza and areas under the PA are Jew-free. Other than that I don’t know what you’re referring to. It’s possible I don’t understand your point.
