What are Hamas playing at?

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

Do you think it isn’t obvious to all Gazans, including civilians where the agreed designated areas agreed lie?
I’d imagine it’s quite clear even if there isn’t a literal line.

They should have read about it in their morning paper whilst having a hearty breakfast

I am staunchly pro-Palestinian. And no, I will not be silent now, we will keep going until Palestine is free and the occupation has ended. I'm shocked at how many of you are willing to defend what Israel has done. If there was no occupation, there would be no resistance. I am wondering if any of you have seen the harrowing testimonies of the Palestinian hostages that have been returned and the treatment they have suffered (kidnapped from Gaza without charge and held in prisons). You all need to wake up and see who the real terrorists of the world are.

Have you seen the harrowing footage of Hamas executing people in the streets? Palastinian people? Why is that their priority? Why not organising the rebuilding and care of their Why are they more interested in killing people than rebuilding their government? What makes you think Hamss wants an end to this conflict?

I can't imagine for one moment that the bodies have been kept safe (refrigerated?) and labelled awaiting this day. They've located and returned a handful and put a stray in for good measure to see what happens. They cannot return the bodies to the grieving families because they no longer have them/never respected them enough to save them - we shouldn't attribute caring and humanitarian responses to these thugs. I think they agreed to the return as a throw-away gesture ......I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong 😢😢😢.

Ah but murdering 18,000 children really showed humanity didn’t it. Jesus Christ!!!!!

She doesn’t care. Just like Hamas don’t care about their own people and will use them as shields. Awful people.

@Cheeks4970 "I am staunchly pro-Palestinian. And no, I will not be silent now, we will keep going until Palestine is free and the occupation has ended."

The only "occupiers" are Hamas, which Israel was trying to remove.

So, a meaningless apology as you've repeated your blasphemy?

I’m not sure Hamas have any intention of cooperating.

I said exactly the same when it was announced.

Well they didn't complain in 1950 when Jordan annexed the West Bank and told them all they were going to be Jordanian citizens..

In fact there wasn't a peep out of the International Community about it either.

It seems to me that if Arabs 'steal' land off Palestinians/Arabs that's OK but if Israelis do it people go ape.

Two-tier logic to me.

Edited

Exactly...Jordan was formed at the same time as Israel. People were displaced. Middle Eastern Jews were displaced when other Arab states forcibly expelled them to Israel after it was founded.

Yet for some very mysterious reason the only problem anyone cares about is Israel. People displaced after the creation of Jordan are not still called refugees over 70 years later....why would that be? Under the Palestinian definition of refugee, and their practice of naming normal neighbourhoods after refugee camps, I am also a refugee living in a camp.

camomilelawns · 16/10/2025 08:34

@SteakBakesAndHotTakes "People displaced after the creation of Jordan are not still called refugees over 70 years later....why would that be?"

And I wonder why King Hussein of Jordan was never taken to task when he shelled the refugee camps in Jordan in 1970, killing tens of thousands of Palestinian men, women and children?

This was known as "Black September" by the Palestinians.

If Israelis had done this it would be called a "massacre", but no-one said a peep.

"No Jews no news" it seems.

It seems to me that you’re not really interested in facts and truth which is sad to me. I’m not going to even try to explain or argue anything with you, it’s pointless.

This is such a cop out and completely inlíne with the Israeli mindset of ignoring atrocities against Palestinians. Everything I said is facts,we both know it, that's why you posted nonsense back instead of addressing my post. Israelis can't expect to keep taking more and more land 'safely' that's not how things work. You can't 'safely' keep people under apartheid. Until Israelis address what it is they are doing rather than the wishy washy 'oh no, we don't agree with the settlers but will do absolutely nothing to stop their land theft and violence(except move to the West Bank for cheap property)' nothing will change.

The whole they've been indoctrinated to hate us, we just want to safely and in peace schtick whilst they are the agressors in the West Bank just won't wash anymore.

@CrossChecking "This is such a cop out and completely inlíne with the Israeli mindset of ignoring atrocities against Palestinians"

Errr, no.

I have already flagged up the atrocities committed against Palestinians by the Jordanians in 1970 which was conveniently ignored.

There has now been footage released from Gaza showing Hamas executing Palestinians. This is nothing to do with Israel.

Are the pro-Palestinian supporters now going to re-route their marches to protest outside the Iranian Embassy (seeing as Iran bankrolls Hamas) and them follow on to the Qatari Embassy (seeing as Qatar gives succour to Hamas leaders) ?

Since the early 1990s, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been sponsoring Hamas with military aid and training and financial aid. Iran has remained a key patron of Hamas, providing them with funds, weapons, and training

Qatar has been a key financial supporter of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, transferring more than $1.8 billion to Hamas over the years. In consultation with the U.S. and Israeli governments, $30 million were transferred monthly to Hamas, according to a Qatari official interviewed by Der Spiegel in 2023

Or are their protests just an excuse for anti-semetism ?

When I use words like apartheid like the ICJ, the world's highest court. You can sit in denial but like I said that's a huge part of the problem, Israelis denial that they are committing horrendous crimes against Palestinians. Apartheid and racial segregation is awful, it shouldn't happen yet it does every single day to Palestinians in their own land so that Israel can further their goal of a 'Greater Israel'. If Israelis has a fraction of the outrage that they have towards being accused of awful crimes as they do towards the awful crimes their state has committed against Palestinians then I don't think we would be where we are today.

@CrossChecking "When I use words like apartheid like the ICJ, the world's highest court. "

"The world's highest court", my fat aunt !

The ICJ is just a talking shop and a toothless watchdog. The ICJ possesses no formal enforcement mechanism.

Human rights organizations and Israeli critics claim that Israel mistreats Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Many allege this treatment equates to apartheid. Israel denies the charges.

Apartheid is a serious accusation that should meet legal standards. Thus, while Israel’s policies haven’t changed, the charge of apartheid is something new.

Though Israel isn’t an apartheid regime, there have been lengthy, ongoing debates among some in the global community about whether Israel’s policies are discriminatory.

Currently, over two million Arabs are Israeli citizens who enjoy equal rights and privileges.

What makes the ICJ case a bigger joke is that is was brought to the court by South Africa who's ruling party allegedly took back hands to bail it out of financial distress by Iran to put the case forward. Its a joke.

Israel denies this charge - Yes people who commit apartheid aren't usually jumping up and down to admit it 🙄

And again it always goes back to Arabs living in Israel. We are talking about Palestine, Israel commit apartheid and racial segregation in Palestine as found by the ICJ.

No it wasn't. You are thinking of the genocide charges in the ICC. Israel being found guilty of illegal occupation, racial segregation and apartheid is separate. This was in response to a request from the UN general assembly in 2022.

Maybe Im confused - South Africa went to ICJ for genocide.

Netanyahu is being summoned to the ICC for war crimes.

The reference by the PP was to ICJ not ICC.

Happy to be corrected.

Not to be confused with International Criminal Court investigation in Palestine, South Africa's genocide case against Israel,

Ah its more complicated than I thought. Two cases at the ICJ and one with ICC.
