What are Hamas playing at?

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

Where is Israel though? Do you not think that a huge part of the problem is that Israel keep trying to expand and annex more and more land? Why is Israel more important than Palestine, why is Jews living safely in Palestine (the occupied territory as recognised by the ICJ) more important than Palestinians living safely and free from apartheid(as recognised by the ICJ) in Palestine. Why can't these Jews just live in Israel, why do they feel the need to keep Palestinians under apartheid and violently displace them so they can live in Palestine too?

I mean the answer is obvious, Netanyahu said it - 'This place is ours', they believe that the land(Palestine) is theirs too, they don't want to just live in peace in Israel as it is now, they also want to have Palestine too. Why won't Israel 'move on' and stop bulldozing and shooting and bombing their way through the occupied territories and just live in Israel? Maybe some kind of re-education is needed, maybe they need to start using maps that actually show Palestine on it so they don't think they have right to live where ever they want and screw the people already living there?

It seems to me that you’re not really interested in facts and truth which is sad to me. I’m not going to even try to explain or argue anything with you, it’s pointless.

You don't see why it's any different that Palestinians today are being turfed out of their homes at gun point so Israelis can have cheaper property? They should just smile and wave and accept it and trot off to Jordan or somewhere?

Christ almighty.

Christ almighty.

Agree it is shocking isn’t it.
Happening all the time in the West Bank to Palestinians property and land
As long as it continues there will never be peace for the Palestinians

There has never been a country called Palestine. I know that doesn't suit your narrative, so I am happy to invite you to prove me wrong - with actual empirical evidence. It's more convincing than shouted slogans.

????
What makes you think that ?
Of course there is

Then where is this State of Palestine that Starmer has taken it upon himself to recognise ?

Does anyone have a map?

Well they didn't complain in 1950 when Jordan annexed the West Bank and told them all they were going to be Jordanian citizens..

In fact there wasn't a peep out of the International Community about it either.

It seems to me that if Arabs 'steal' land off Palestinians/Arabs that's OK but if Israelis do it people go ape.

Two-tier logic to me.

While I don't believe that all Palestinians support Hamas, there are far too many who do. And they won't rest until every single jew is obliterated.

If they want me to remove it of course I’ll ask to. I am upset to have inadvertently offended someone but I’ve apologised so I hope that’s enough.

they were out in an impossible situation - had no choice but to accept yet Israel had bombed the place to smithereens, killing the hostages (newsflash: the Israeli government couldn’t care less about the hostages) and burying them under rubble.

israel has already broken the ceasefire (within 6 hours). They had no intention whatsoever of ever honouring it. Many of the Palestinian hostages returned as bodies had signs of torture and execution. I honestly despair at anyone still trying to defend Israel on this. You really can’t please ignorance any more. You are supporting a government that is carrying out the modern day holocaust. Hang your heads in shame.

(and try getting your news from Middle Eastern sources as well as British ones to get the actual facts on the ground, rather than Zionist-funded propaganda)

Usyam · 15/10/2025 23:22

People have confused images of starving Palestinians with Hamas being in the right or being good. It's crazy. People have failed to look at any of the history, even the recent stuff. Hamas are crazed terrorists funded by Iran. Scary as fuck. Can't be trusted at all. 7th October was a half scale 9/11 but with far far more sadism involved.

I hope that civilians are not starved. But Hamas are going to kill people - in Gaza and Israel. Because, you know, they are terrorists.

People waving Palestinian flags has always horrified me for this reason. But to say such a thing would have left you being called a zionist who supported genocide.

Sweetbeansandmochi · 15/10/2025 23:37

I agree with you @Usyam and you have articulated exactly what I think about the situation.

I haven't found anyone guilty. Charges have been made by the ICC, an arrest warrant has been issued, he should face them. If the facts are that he hasn't committed any war crimes then it should be a quick trial.

You flat out said that the Israeli government is evil and "committing war crimes every day". Then you had the temerity to call for a trial. I don't want it to sound like I'm a massive Netanyahu fan (I'm not) but if I'd been accused of something and the rhetoric from the press, certain politicians and protesters alike, was that I was guilty, I wouldn't turn up to be tried either. There is such a thing as due process, you know. There is such a thing as sub judice. Without these things, we are lost.

Just seen this update on two more Israeli bodies handed over
and this report on CNN

Hostage release: The two coffins containing what are said to be the remains of deceased hostages are now in Israel, according to Israel’s military, after Hamas said it has handed over all hostage bodies it can access.

Trump’s warning: Amid the dispute over the deceased hostages, US President Donald Trump told CNN Israeli forces could resume fighting in Gaza“as soon as I say the word” if Hamas won’t uphold the ceasefire deal.

However: The US does not believe Hamas is violating its commitments to the ceasefire agreement by failing to produce the remains of former hostages, two senior US advisers said.

Calls for aid: Israel has told the UN that the expected number of aid trucks allowed into Gaza will be reduced or delayeddue to Hamas’ slow release of hostage remains. Humanitarian groupsurging for much-needed supplies into Gaza, say aid should not be used as a “bargaining chip.”

Remains returned: The bodies of 90 Palestinians, which were held by Israel during the conflict, have been transferred to Gaza so far, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Meanwhile, violent clashes have erupted between Hamas and rival groupsacross Gaza in recent days.

Lets hope the headline below doesn't come about
Hoping they'll allow machinery into Gaza to find all the deceased

Because Hamas are already internationally recognised as a terrorist organisation? Netanyahu commits his war crimes under the veil of being a civilised government. Both leaderships are evil.

Exactly, the Israeli people are suffering what their government deserve, and the Palestinian people are suffering what Hamas deserve.

Poor people sent to kill and die on the whims of the rich and/or powerful. A class of the genre.

Political rivals? These groups are backed and armed by Israel - you do know that?

Yes, political rivals.

Palestine is a tribal society, with differernt tribes, or you could think of them as gangs, struggling for control.

Hamas is the top gang and they are quite happy to execute rivals any chance they get. It is much easier to do this under cover of war.

That's not to say that their rivals wouldn't do the same. But if you do not understand the nature of what counts for "governance" here you are not going to be able to understand the situation and problems in Palestine.

People don't seem to understand that Hamas' practice of putting military bases in places like hospitals, or hiding hostages in military targets, are also really significant war crimes.

The reason these things were made war crimes is that they inevitably lead to civilians being targeted along with the military installations. In a war, nations can't ignore military targets because they have been co-located with civilians.

There is no reason to do that, other than to create that specific outcome. The onus here is on Hamas who are actively putting their people in harms way and breaking the laws of war.
