My Facebook feed is full of GP practices etc. promoting the flu jab, and EVERY response is from people saying they are full of poison, giving everyone flu, part of a government conspiracy, Bill Gates, big pharma, etc.

It doesn't matter where the GP surgery is in the country, the responses are all the same.

It's literally 100% of the respondents. Please can someone explain to me why the general public (on my feeds anyway) have become convinced that the flu jab is part of a conspiracy... to what end?!

No idea. I'm afraid I'm not really bothered whether they explain themselves. I don't agree with them, and I'm not very interested in what they have to say.

Most people don’t respond unless they feel strongly about something so the majority of people will scroll passed, pleased to have a reminder. You’re just seeing natural selection in action when you read these idiotic comments.

Well the way the Facebook algorithms work the more you engage with that sort of post the more of it you’ll see. So it’s not in any way representative of what the public actually think. I have no strong feelings either way on the flu vaccine, but have absolutely nothing polluting my facebook feed.

Medical authorities have lost the trust of much of the public. Not only big pharma, who they see as the ones really promoting the flu jab, but they have no trust in government medical authorities, or the research that informs medical practice.

They've squandered what used to be very significant trust and that means other sources of information are stepping in.

My facebook feed is full of cute animals. You need to look at the stuff that makes you smile!

The people who respond to posts like that are just a very vocal minority.

I was wondering the exact same thing earlier today OP. People are blaming every malady on the vaccine. Let's hope it's just the algorithms as people say, and that the public aren't really like this!

I was damaged for life by a live flu vaccine in the early 2000’s it wasn’t something I ever really mentioned because quite frankly no on was listening.
I sometimes now explain I have had ‘long covid’ post vaccine damage with a slight eye roll.

It’s just a fad topic at the moment I think.

The last thing I want is to listen to anti-vaxxers explain themselves. They just spew nonsense, endlessly, loudly. They explain themselves without end. It never makes any sense.

Don't invite them to do more 'explaining'!

The flip side would be.....why do you think differently? Everyone is entitled to their opinion - but guess it comes down to who can make the most objective defence?

They're not going to explain it with any form of logic! Personally I am so done with listening to anti-vax nonsense, it's not only ridiculous it's downright harmful in the case of children especially who will get ill and potentially die or get disabilities as a result of having illnesses there's no need for them to get! (pauses to catch my breath!) How anyone can actually justify that, I can't imagine.

The flu jab has around a 30% success rate, I have no clue how many millions the NHS pay for it but a higher success rate would be nice.

The charity I holunteer with is working to eradicate polio worldwide. Bill Gates match funds it.

Whilst I do understand the concern over childhood vaccine rates and anti vaxxer comments. I couldn't get worked up by people not wanting to get the flu jab, it' crap with a really low success rate.

The wider issue with vaccines in my opinion is about loss of trust in government after COVID, the distortion of truth around the safety and efficacy of COVID vaccines and a general feeling of unrest stoked by social media and bad faith actors. Everyone is paranoid.

I think most of them are bots. Kind of like the ones you see when someone posts a local road being closed and spammy links to a video of the crash appears within seconds.

And, a few ranting real people dotted here and there that think people will listen to the ramblings of an online nutter instead of someone with a medical degree.

They're utterly batshit. Ignore them. I have read (from some) that we are all being slowly poisoned (by the covid jab) and will be dead within 10 years.

This ludicous myth has been busted somewhat by the Government giving covid jabs to a much smaller group of people now. 😆

The people who are coming out with this batshit nonsense are the same ones who think the earth is flat, and that Elvis Presley and Princess Diana are still alive. They also usually support Donald Trump.

🤦‍♀️ No you haven’t, actually. I’m very pro vaccine. I’m having my annual Covid and Flu ones next week, as I do every year, and if they come out with a vaccine for anything else, I’ll have that too, thanks very much.
