I have an essay to write
I would rather practice my piano
I don't want to work any more
I want to sit under a blanket and watch Netflix
I am so over this working for a living lark

Why else don't you want to go to work tomorrow?

Because I am having a shitty time at the moment, have been put on a PIP for what I think are quite unfair reasons, my boss is constantly nit-picking at stuff that literally has nothing to do with me, and I have some hard deadlines and difficult work to finish that I'm stressing about because my boss flips between wanting to review everything I do, or nothing I do, and telling me she will review everything but then just....not.

I want to stay at home with my dog.
The government keep piling more and more work on us while refuse to engage in annual pay rise discussions and sending out emails thanking us for our hard work at the difficult time. Don’t thank us, pay us!
I have autism, depression, SAD on top of that and anorexia and it’s all a bit much at the moment.
I have 2 books I want to read.
It’s cold, windy and rainy.
I get angsty sat at a desk most of the day doing paperwork instead of working with the people we’re meant to work with.
I want to exercise and walk my dog instead.

Don’t forget they give us lots of tools to deal with stress and improve wellbeing, whilst being the very real cause of that stress and not ever acknowledging that.

Because tomorrow is the last day with our ddog. She is getting pts on Tuesday... Kind customer has given my the afternoon off paid though.

Please spend the time with your dog xx
Hugs and kind thoughts for you on an awful situation it’s the worst xx

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 05/10/2025 19:59

I don’t want to have to go and pretend for hours on end that I get on absolutely fine with my backstabbing little colleague like nothing happened. I just can’t be arsed with it anymore.

Take a week off looking for a new job.
It won’t improve where you are xx

Arrrrrrragghhh · 05/10/2025 20:06

Weirdly this is one of the positive threads I’ve read in ages.

I can absolutely relate to 99% of these posts. We can’t all be doing the same job surely . 🙂

yetanotherrandomname · 05/10/2025 20:09

I've had a week off and it was lovely. I do not want to go back. I'm too old for all the shit (51). I want lie ins and dog walks and gardening and sofa time. I am so old.

CactusSammy · 05/10/2025 20:11

Because the older i get, the shorter life seems, and I spend a great deal of it working in a job I hate, to barely earn enough money to live on.

Probation officer by any chance? Think I remember you from the AMA thread!

Lolabear38 · 05/10/2025 20:12

Because I’m always either at work or looking after my children (love them very much, obviously). They’ll be at school tomorrow and I would love to just have some time in the house alone so I could relax and do whatever I want to do without hearing my name called every 1.4 seconds.

LifeIsTooFlippingShort · 05/10/2025 20:13

I'm old, I'm worn out, I can't be arsed. Still, this time next year I'll be retired, so there's that 😁

MousseMousse · 05/10/2025 20:13

Because my bed is so much nicer 😄

user1471503652 · 05/10/2025 20:16

Because I am protect managing something at the moment and everyone involved in the actual delivery of it voted to say the company shouldn't do it, however "higher ups" have said just get on with it basically. Destined to fail.

Because I can't deal with the politics anymore.

Because I am always the person who gets extra tasks as my boss knows I will get on with it and get things done.

I often fantasise about quitting and working in a garden centre or National Trust property.

Odiebay · 05/10/2025 20:18

Because one of the people I manage is rude to me all the time. Even my manager has noticed and over than the excuse "I'm tired" has done nothing. Making everything hard work!

ItsNotYou852 · 05/10/2025 20:19

Because I do a crap job for crap pay, and do my best to make it successful and yet it goes very under appreciated.
Plus I'm 64 and should have been retired by now!

WinchSparkle80 · 05/10/2025 20:23

because am getting a puppy on Thursday and want to tidy and organise and clean.

Jamfirstest · 05/10/2025 20:26

Because lots of people are on leave and I want to hide. This job isn’t what I agreed to. I’m knackered.

I’m a teacher and a parent so I always feel like this. Small children always want me for something!

TempleOfShrooms · 05/10/2025 20:36

I'm in the office 5 days a week and I already feel like my social battery is drained

YesJs · 05/10/2025 20:38

AngelinaFibres · 05/10/2025 18:27

I am 60 and retired. I was a Primary teacher. It will never , ever not be a total joy to me that I don't have to go to work ever again. My 2 grandchildren ( 3.5 years and 20 months) will be dropped off by my DIL at 7.15 tomorrow and we will have a fabulous day doing jolly things.

Oof, I’d much rather be at work than look after two toddlers all day!

Livelovebehappy · 05/10/2025 20:42

Because I’m mid 50s and I’m tired. I’m winding down to retirement already

AgualusasL0ver · 05/10/2025 20:42

SparklyBrickViper · 05/10/2025 19:08

Because it will be Monday and a whole new week stretches ahead.

I’ve made the worst decision of my working life accepting this job, and I feel physically sick thinking about another week of battling people who don’t want me there and are waiting for me to fail.

Only another four months before I can move to another post and put this nightmare behind me.

I had about 6 months left, but have cut my losses.

Financially I am precarious if I don't get something almost immediately, but I could not take it anymore.

SusanChurchouse · 05/10/2025 20:42

Because it’s my birthday tomorrow :D

In fairness I’m not actually going to work tomorrow because I’m doing a phased return after a long sick absence for cancer treatment. But I wouldn’t want to go if I had to!

Mummyof3Me2021 · 05/10/2025 20:45

I dont want to work tomorrow because I am sick of the treadmill of capitalism!

Handbagcuriosity · 05/10/2025 20:46

Cos there are brighter sides to life and I should know because I’ve seen them, oh but not often
