I have an essay to write
I would rather practice my piano
I don't want to work any more
I want to sit under a blanket and watch Netflix
I am so over this working for a living lark

Why else don't you want to go to work tomorrow?

I dont want to go to work tomorrow because, yesterday i unboxed my new tv and dvd player, i would like to sit and watch the tv and dvds but sadly its off to work i go 😊

Notashamed13 · 05/10/2025 20:49

Because I dont live to work, i work to live 🙃 wish I had a real life money tree then I could pursue all my hobbies! Most recently I've been sat in the normal rush hour traffic and genuinely thinking why? Why? Why? Is this really the meaning of life.....work to earn...pay all the shitty bills etc that life throws at me....Still left with debt

Lovelanguage · 05/10/2025 20:50

Because I'm leaving & my boss is being an absolute cow to me since I resigned

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 05/10/2025 20:50

My line manager is a bucket of cringe and will force small talk while everyone mills in to a routine morning catchup. The job isn't what it used to be after a massive restructure two years ago and processes are changed or added more frequently than I change my underwear. The company is very small now so I can't really fade into the background without it being noticed. I'm due to go on maternity leave in March for my first baby, so hopefully I can take a break from them for a while.

It's always boggled my mind how people are happy to waste hours in a week just commuting so they can sit in an office all day. I hear people say it gives them purpose.

Because I'm a primary TA and the work I'm expected to do far exceeds my pay, but if I say no the kids lose out. There are no jobs around so I can't leave.
I want to stay home and bake, knit, crochet and read. I wish I could afford to retire, no chance of that for a long time to come.

I'm also a primary TA and, after over 20 years, I am exhausted. Apart from a few years when my DC were young, I have worked for 47 years. I would love to retire, but can't afford to until I reach state pension age.

ThatWordDoesNotMeanWhatYouThinkItMeans · 05/10/2025 21:10

Because I'm doing a well-paid job which is ultimately pointless. I'm just a small cog in a large machine which really just makes disgustingly rich people even more disgustingly richer.
I'm closer to 60 than 50, I've been in this industry since I was 18, and I just can't be arsed anymore. I want to do something meaningful.
Plus I've had two ill-advised glasses of red wine, so will probably feel hungover for a week, and I have to get up at 5.30.

Because I'm a teacher and tomorrow I'm taking dozens of excitable 9 year olds on a residential trip.

Help!!!!

Been there, done that. So much sympathy and the very best of luck!

Because I’ve been off since MIL died 3 weeks ago, FiL spent half the 3 weeks in hospital with a suspected heart attack and DH & his siblings managed to have several ‘discussions’ around arrangements for the funeral that really upset him & his mental health has tanked.

Work were suppportive but I’d rather be home with DH, the cat & the dog.

💕

DoubtfulCat · 05/10/2025 21:16

I feel tired. I can’t get enough sleep at the moment because there are too few hours in each day. I don’t think that’s down to my work, but it makes the mornings quite hard.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 05/10/2025 21:45

I don’t want to go to work tomorrow because…

We are TB testing our cows. It's always stressful! The cows love their routine and continuity, so anything different is highly suspect. Although we've been clear of TB for as long as anyone working there can remember, we worry about getting a reactor. We like our cows to be in good health, and a TB positive test would also have far-reaching consequences for our farm (e.g. movement restrictions, even stricter regulations, etc.).

Given that we work long days on (i.e. the best part of a fortnight at once, with early starts and late finishes) in return for a few days off, I'd rather have peace, quiet and a much-needed lie-in! I also think that it is a shame that we spend the healthiest and most youthful years of our lives working, when I wish that I could spend time visiting places of interest and even just having time to get my house sorted out.

Mygardenandme · 05/10/2025 21:49

Because I cried in front of my male colleagues on Friday. Not once but twice. They were so sweet but didnt have a clue what to do and it was all very awkward. I feel quite embarrassed!

And? Do men not cry? Confused

Oneeyedonkey · 05/10/2025 21:57

Work is so overrated.
I really wish I didn't have a guilty feeling about ringing in sick and could ring in with back pain or stress, but I can't.

I am finally ready to admit leaving my job 3 years ago was the worst mistake ever

But i made my bed, I need to lie in it.

Mygardenandme · 05/10/2025 22:11

YesJs · 05/10/2025 21:54

I mention they were men because it was just such a stereotypical male reaction. They were like deers in headlights and were sweet but they didnt have a clue what to say/do.

One sent me a text yesterday morning checking in with me which was lovely so I know they aren't judging me. However I'm judging me and feel embarrassed because I cried at work.

I also know that it will have got back to my remote manager so he will be phoning tomorrow and I'll have to go over it all with him too.

It's nice people are looking out for me but equally, I'm just like "I will be fine. Just give me a minute to get over what made me cry and it'll be grand". 😅

Oneeyedonkey · 05/10/2025 22:37

I made a mistake leaving my job 3 years ago.
Ive floundered since then.
I've not admitted it to anyone, but myself.
I pray every night for a break.

Oneeyedonkey · 05/10/2025 22:38

I know i sound desperate, I am
I can't admit this out loud.

Snazzy73 · 06/10/2025 01:22

Because it may be the week I find out I’m at risk of redundancy from a job I love… meanwhile getting angry that useless manager may stay just because of length of service and because she thinks the place would fall apart without her ( it wouldn’t and hasn’t in the times she’s had off before)

I can’t imagine anyone being “happy to waste hours in a week commuting”. I understand what you are saying but unless you have the ability to work from home, what realistic options do you have?

Gettingbysomehow · 06/10/2025 16:09

Because I woke up 5 times during the night needing the loo and had massive hot flushes as soon as I lay down.
Im long past the menopause so no idea what that was about.

No. Definitely not an infection. I think its just my age. It's certainly annoying.

I don’t want to go to work tomorrow because…

my work is tedious
we have lost a few of our team who are not being replaced because, apparently, we can just absorb their work 🤦🏼‍♀️

What they said ^^ and I don’t get any thanks for my work other than getting paid.

rosegoldJune · 06/10/2025 18:13

Because it's my 8th day in a row working, I'm dead on my feet & forgotten what it's like to wear my own clothes other than my pyjamas.
