I have an essay to write
I would rather practice my piano
I don't want to work any more
I want to sit under a blanket and watch Netflix
I am so over this working for a living lark

Why else don't you want to go to work tomorrow?

Aww, a shame so many don't like their jobs. I absolutely love my job, been doing it now for 34 years with the same employer (nhs) . I never dread going into work, a few of my friends tell me, Sunday evening is ruined for them, as work is hanging over them like a dark cloud. Guess l'm luck, but l do enjoy what l do...

Chinsupmeloves · 06/10/2025 18:18

I don't like getting up extra early while the rest of the family is snoozing comfortably in bed, be the first to open the curtains, let dog out for wee, put (for me) uncomfortable work attire on, get myself prepared for the big smile and friendly manner, thick skin for a full on day! Fortunately I will have arranged everything needed for DC the night before so it's all ready.

Thankfully I don't do this every day as PT now but it's still hard.

Theoldwrinkley · 06/10/2025 18:38

I would absolutely love to go to work tomorrow. But mobility issues and old age mean no-one will employ me!

Whyamiherenow · 06/10/2025 18:44

I don’t want to be shouted at by a particular colleague (not manager) who shouts at my randomly and unpredictably about minor perceived infractions.

Dagnabit · 06/10/2025 18:48

I did go to work today but didn’t want to. Work are having yet another efficiency saving restructure and my current team is being reduced by one. No idea who that will be yet. If I make the cut, my work load will increase. It’s monumentally shit.

Capillaryaction · 06/10/2025 18:51

Because I work 13 hour day on a Tuesday, with some unspeakably dull men, and it's lonely.

Sadworld23 · 06/10/2025 19:27

I think my husband had a breakdown at the weekend and I'd rather be at home than leave him alone.

Netcurtainnelly · 06/10/2025 19:28

Glad I never had too.
It was a gorgeous day weather wise and I took advantage to be outside.

Laurmolonlabe · 06/10/2025 19:51

No matter how much time off you have, you want more- so unless you are going to inherit a fortune , you have to suck it up.

I think my husband had a breakdown at the weekend and I'd rather be at home than leave him alone.

I think some compassionate leave would be reasonable in the circumstances, just for a day or two?
If he was seriously physically unwell, you might have to take the time off, so mental should apply here too.
I really hope he feels better soon and that you are ok x

Ap42 · 06/10/2025 20:21

Because I work for the NHS and the pressure is immense, never enough staff and some of our patients are downright rude and abusive. I want to run away...

Mcoco · 06/10/2025 20:32

I have a child to support and he spends a lot of time running around and I can't keep up with him. I am a mid fifties menopausal lady and have no energy left. 🫣

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 06/10/2025 20:33

Because I've had a really 'helpful' message which wasn't helpful and has actually annoyed me.

Missingpop · 06/10/2025 20:59

I don’t want to go to work tomorrow because I’m a lazy bugger who wants to stay snuggled up in my nice warm comfy bed & sleep until I’m ready to get up not be forced to get up when the alarm screams at me. I want to be a lady of leisure but still get laid at the end of the month please, I won’t take any days off sick or any annual leave if this can be my new full time job 😂😂😂

Btowngirl · 06/10/2025 21:04

tsmainsqueeze · 05/10/2025 19:44

You win ! no better reason🤗

Thank you, we all survived and had extra cuddles at bed time!

Because tomorrow is the last day with our ddog. She is getting pts on Tuesday... Kind customer has given my the afternoon off paid though.

I’m so so sorry.

PorridgeEater · 06/10/2025 21:56

"The government keep piling more and more work on us while refuse to engage in annual pay rise discussions and sending out emails thanking us for our hard work at the difficult time. Don’t thank us, pay us!"

This is so irritating - no wonder you're annoyed.
Guess they think they have to do it as they know they're not paying you enough!

anon666 · 06/10/2025 22:06

I've been laid off, and I'm on notice period, and I really can't get motivated.

It's not fair of me to be like this. They are still paying me, and I'm a self-employed contractor. I've been given two month's notice, I have nothing to complain about.

But I just can't get any sense of urgency or work ethic. To be fair, maybe that's why I'm being laid off! I've been repeatedly told to work slower and that I'm going too fast, that I'm too enthusiastic. And its true I could do 4 times more work if they wanted. So I've been trying to go slow.

I just need to keep my mouth shut, amd put one foot in front of the other. But its like torture somehow. I'm so capable and it feels I'm not even using 1% of that.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 06/10/2025 22:40

(I don't work Mondays).

I don't want to go to work tomorrow because I've got a shitty cold, I'm sleeping even worse than normal, so I am already tired. Plus, my job is really full on and I would rather be relaxing.

Dogstar78 · 06/10/2025 22:54

I spent Sunday doing battle with the loft. I found a 360 review from 2009 that said my enthusiasm and motivation was exhausting. Come back and see me in 2025 for the less enthusiastic and grumpy edition.

I don't want to work because our 'leader' doesn't know what she is doing and we have to cope with the fallout. She doesn’t protect her own team and allows other people to cover their incompetence by wrongly blaming us and she agrees with them despite provide hard evidence.

I hate work and people so much I am looking forward to a shoulder operation...that is saying something.

illsendansostotheworld · 06/10/2025 23:06

Because l have to prepare for a GDPR audit which is boring as fuck

Geekynzmum · 06/10/2025 23:37

They're doing work in the office, so I'm having to work from home for the next 2 weeks instead of hybrid working and it feels like going back to COVID times.
I was nearly in tears on Friday when I was driving home and thinking about it.

TheAngryPuxie · 06/10/2025 23:42

I don't want to go to work tomorrow because I am a teacher and the kids just don't want to learn and can't be bothered and it's soul destroying.

Aweemawe · 06/10/2025 23:49

Because I don’t think I’m very good at it.
I want to be, and I know I could be, so I put pressure on myself, and then I freeze. The word procrastination doesn’t seem right because I don’t put things off, my brain just will not do it. It’s hard to explain. I have sat in front of my laptop all night before now and just done… nothing. Not mumsnetting and youtubing, just… fretting.

Peridoteage · 07/10/2025 00:11

I feel like its a bit meaningless but its well paid

I would rather spend the day doing useful jobs - cooking, cleaning, growing things to eat, making useful things (knitting/sewing/pottery/carpentry)

I wish life was a bit slower and less about accumulating stuff.
