Am I ungrateful because DP didn’t buy the calendar I wanted before it sold out?

I had a shit week last week and DP knew I was browsing beauty calendar’s. He asked which one I liked and I told him the name of the one I was going to buy.

He told me not to buy it and that he’d treat me to it as one of his Christmas presents to me. I was really grateful and said it sells out quick so to be aware of that.

Lo and behold, he’s gone to buy it and it’s sold out and not coming back in stock. I was annoyed, said I really had my eye on it and would have happily brought it myself as originally intended.

He says I’m being ungrateful and that it’s not his fault. Well, I told him he’d need to get a move on at the time and feel really annoyed now….

I'm sure they will restock them I don't think it's his fault as he tried to get you one and they had sold out

I have no idea that you have to buy a beauty advent calendar for 1st December in October!!!

But then I'm the person who tried to book a Tesco Christmas delivery slot on 15th December (and thought I was quite advanced...)

I know now from the 101 MN threads about delivery slots that this is quite ridiculous 😄

Oh my god it’s happened to me!!! But worse because I sent him the link to this ACTUAL post as a joke on 1 October via WhatsApp with a jokey message saying “haha I hope you’ve bought mine”. Plus I sent him the original link to the calendar I wanted on 18 September WITH a 15% discount code. (I’ve just scrolled back on WhatsApp to check the timings)

So I basically did ALL the work for him, gave him loads of notice and send him a real life example of popular calendars selling out.

I just went on the website and saw the calendar has indeed now sold out and just said to him I hope you’ve got mine! And he looked at me and angrily said “No… sorry but I don’t have time I’ve got too much to do”. He’s not even mortified or apologetic! He’s annoyed!!! At me!!!

I am gutted! I know it’s just a calendar but it would have taking him 5 minutes to order.

I think that it was important to make the point. The idea that commenting on the environmental impact of certain practices and products is "sanctimonious" is incredible to me - aren't you concerned about the fact that we have almost reached the point of no return with our despoilation of the environment. If you have children, it will impact considerably on them.

Your meaning is unclear to me.

Advent calendar boxes are usually card, so reusable for storage or recyclable. The items inside, once the contents have been used, can all be recycled via the Boots scheme if council collecting doesn't take them. There is no more environmental damage then using 25 other random products throughout the year.
