Starmer thinks I am an enemy of the state

1000 replies

Bumblebee72 · 01/10/2025 10:14

So we have it Starmer has declared at conference because I support Reform I am now an enemy of his Government.

Who would have thought it, a middle class British worker, now an enemy in the country I was born. And they say Reform is the party of Fascists. Yet we also now have the Home Secretary saying "In solving this crisis, you may not always like what I do. We will have to question some of the assumptions and legal constraints that have lasted for a generation and more". Maybe the Home Secretary too will be deemed an enemy of the state.

Am I being unreasonable to think this should be seen as a rallying cry to get this Government out at the first opportunity.

And let’s look at Brexit - the policy strongly supported by the reform guys and look how much worse off we are as a result of that ! Yet you trust them to make things better ? When they have made things worse for us financially ? When they have caused riots in the streets ? That’s better?

I will probably end up voting for reform because I am furious with Labour and the tories. They have fucked hard working people continually and there's only so much a person can take. I am not unaware of the problems a Reform government will bring but surely Nigel can't fuck me any harder than Starmer is doing and Johnson already has. It's diabolical it's got to this point, yet, here we are.

Don’t be daft, of course he can. He can tank the £, get rid of the NHS, rip out our growing sustainable energy industry just before prices come down (not far off) because if his interest in the oil industry and introduce fracking.

Liz Truss was forced out because her policies were about to sink the financial infrastructure behind final salary pensions. If Reform win there will be no 1922 committee parachuting in a nice financially literate millionaire in expensive trainers to calm the bond markets. We have lived through relative prosperity for generations but if you don’t think the UK is capable of being tanked, you are wrong. We’re not special. Put in a terrible government and we could end up very poor indeed.

ExpressCheckout · 01/10/2025 10:41

To be honest, I think you should all vote Liberal Democrat, and be done with this argumentative nonsense.

This is sort of how I feel too. I think Lab and Cons both should be doing a lot more
apologising and acknowledging the damn mess both parties have led us into.

Enemy of fucking Mumsnet, starting the same DAILY ARGUMENT yet again. What are you hoping to achieve in this thread? Why not add it to one of the other one dating the same thing.

You are unreasonable as you can’t be arsed searching … or it’s some fucking ploy to whip up outrage on both sides.

childofthe607080s · 01/10/2025 10:42

Oh and the fisheries ?
nigels refusal to attend the EU and put forward and support for Britain fishers meant that our fishing industry got shafted

his laziness lost people their jobs and livelihoods

Kreepture · 01/10/2025 10:43

have you seen the voting history on womens issues from Reform?

It's worse than the conservatives.

But hey.. if you want to roll us back to victorian times over a few immigrants, carry on.

Hellohelga · 01/10/2025 10:43

That’s not what he said. Stop being so dramatic.

Let's not forget that Farage thought that the Truss budget was the best Tory budget since 1986.

FaitesVosJeux · 01/10/2025 10:44

Anyone who thinks Farage is going to miraculously unfuck the country whilst making you all rich, happy and secure is probably beyond help.
Farage doesn't give a fuck about you. Not a single half-baked fuck. You are collateral damage in his quest to make himself even richer at the expense of all the people you don't like and every time he speaks he gives you a new list of people not to like.
Know this - he's laughing his fucking potato shaped head off at the runaway success of his mass manipulation. Vote Farage in and you'll know first hand what the actual fuckening feels like.

Hellohelga · 01/10/2025 10:45

ainsleysanob · 01/10/2025 10:16

Look, I don’t disagree with you and I don’t vote reform. But, what I have learned on Mumsnet is that any differing of opinion is met with glee because instead of listening to you or onboarding other opinions they simply shut their ears and label you. They do this, because it’s easier for them!

OPs post is not a different opinion, it’s made up. KS never said those things. Go and listen to the speech.

R0ckandHardPlace · 01/10/2025 10:22

But if people align and march with a party who have clear fascist views, they must take responsibility for educating themselves about the aims and views of that organisation. You can’t say “I’m not racist, I’m happy for people to come here and live and work legally; it’s just the ones coming on boats that I don’t agree with” when Farage has made it clear that he wants to deport EVERYONE who isn’t British born. Even families that have lived and worked here for decades.

Do you agree with that?

I’m sorry but this isn’t true. At no point have reform said anything like this.

The changes to ILR would mean that people on it either need to switch to 5 year visa renewal or become a citizen.

I understand that not everyone wants to become a citizen so there is some push back there, but to say that reform want to deport everyone on IRL is just untrue.

CherryCola427 · 01/10/2025 10:48

Small boat arrivals have hugely increased since Brexit.

randomchap · 01/10/2025 10:37

So as a reform voter you're happy with:

Uncosted tax cuts for the richest
Deregulation and cuts to workers rights
Losing your human rights through the loss of the ECHR
Losing the NHS

It's also worth noting that Reform are a business and there's no way of members of the public joining them and shaping policy. At least with Labour, Conservative, Liberal Dem etc they are actually political parties with membership not a business pretending to be one

You as opposed to the uncosted benefit increases as bribes for labour voters?

I am actually in favour of deregulation but isn't Starmer talking about doing just anyway that for growth.

I don't think we need to rely on Europe to dictate our rules.

The NHS is already fucked. Those that love it seem to take the view, its shit service but its our shit service so that's ok.

He changed his mind on Europeans but still plans to do it retrospectively to people from the Commonwealth, mainly Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis & Nigerians

Not to be outdone, Reform’s Chief of Policy has now said that Starmer is inciting violence against Farage.
If it wasn’t so serious, it would be hilarious.

childofthe607080s · 01/10/2025 10:53

ah - benefits - remove them and society will be better a traditional right wing policy that leads to increased crime, deaths from starvation and an exploited working class

pleas just look what happens to the working classes in every right wing society . We don’t thrive. We die.

Now look at the murder rates in the us, the legal drug problem of people in dispaur , diabetics dying from lack of insulin

or the problems of Argentina in the past / state killing of anyone who was not brainwashed or anyone who had enough education to think for themselves

Farage has made people poorer through Brexit and made it more difficult to return small boats to France. Why does anyone trust him? I don’t get it.

KS is sounding increasingly desperate and like a man backed into a corner who knows time is running out for him.

I wouldn't worry about what he says.

I'm a white, female, born here and thinking of voting reform too.

The news is overun with high inflation, low growth, immigration problems, failing services and yesterday RR says something about increasing benefits re child benefit cap. I mean seriously. Debt is increasing each month, interest on goverment bonds is high as the UK is no longer seen as a safe place to invest.

Just get the fuck out of parliament both of you and let someone with some balls take over.

I used to vote Tory. I've never voted labour and I never considered reform until this year.

What Reform policies specifically appeal to you? Other than immigration.

Do you think Farage is a stable, safe, diplomatic, wise pair of hands to steer the country through exceptionally challenging times, both domestically and internationally?

What are Reform's policies on the future of the troubled NHS (particularly if their immigration dreams come true), for example?
