It's annoying when they try to argue against it. We all know nepotism is a thing, probably we would all help our kids, but it's thr tone deaf attitude that rubs people the wrong way.

Liza Minnelli (dd of judy garland/Vincente minnelli) deals with it well I think, she has pointed out that obviously it has opened doors for her and when she steps through the door she has to prove herself. Which is fair enough really.

You are right, I have seen him on documentaries about boy bands now you mention it.

The very WORST thing anyone could do to Holden is ignore her.

But the problem isn’t the nepo babies or their parents. It’s the organisations which employ them, and The BBC is one of the worst offenders. I wrote and complained when Esther Rantzen’s daughter was given her own radio show years ago and John Peel’s son was too. I blame the BBC particularly because it’s a public body - funded by us. Much more difficult to stop nepotism in the private sector.

I mean, where do we star with TV companies? Roman Kemp, Bradley Walsh’s son - they’re all at it!

i agree - no one should be personal or nasty, but celebrities can’t have it both ways. If you want the unfair advantages celebrity brings you need to accept the criticism too.

Around 17/18 years ago, he and his second wife lived on the next street to me, we had babies the same age, and I used to see him in the park and at Tumbletots. The second wife was also very pretty and young. He looked perpetually glum. I wish I'd had the nerve to Mrs Merton his wife about what attracted her to him.

Amanda Holden is a marketing genius. She knows that there's no such thing as bad publicity. She is talking about her daughter to get everyone else talking about her. That is all.

Well I think the fact that we’re talking about ‘Amanda Holden’s daughter’ rather than using the young woman’s name (I don’t even know wht it is) says she’s a nepo baby!

There’s nothing wrong with getting a leg up from anyone you can, but its a bit tacky of Amanda to be saying stuff like this to get her more publicity. There are nicer ways of doing it.

Amanda Holden studied musical theatre, and had pursued a career from then. She happened to be married to Les Dennis - what - almost 20 years ago now? - and has had an almost unbroken TV/Stage Show/Radio Career, based on her own signing, acting and hosting talents, which she objectively does possess, whether she’s your taste or not.

she’s certainly got drive and an incredible worth ethic.

Goodness I have just looked her up, I honestly think she must be a nepo baby as I would not have thought she was model material. Unless the DM and Hello have deliberately posted awful pictures of her which I would not put past them!

I do feel a bit sorry for children of famous people though. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't

I just find the term ‘nepo baby’ catty and bitchy. Lots of people will be given help through networks - whether that’s someone who wants to work as a mechanic and getting experience in her uncle’s garage, to someone getting a foot in the door at the friend’s mum’s firm, to giving a well evidenced speech at the UN.

I wish someone would give me a helping hand to earn a fortune and live a comfertable life.

I turned down the chance to be a nepo baby. My auntie Brenda sorted me out with a job at Asda. She was very put out that I rejected it and went to university.
