mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/09/2025 10:11

Amanda Holden's daughter is now a model

Amanda is whinging saying that no-one should call her a nepo baby, she earned her modelling contract by herself

The kid is a nepo baby sorry 😭😭😭 - but what's so wrong with that?!

Just own it. Amanda bringing attention to it has just made it worse imo

Yanbu - the kid is a nepo baby
Yabu - the kid isnt a nepo baby and achieved this contract all by herself, no-one should ever call her a nepo baby ever!

Ugh I’m not a fan of AH. I don’t know why she winds me up sooooo much. I’m not usually like this…

ramonaquimby · 30/09/2025 14:38

Ahh, I'll bet Amanda loves all the attention this is bringing.

Buddy Oliver wrote a cookbook at 12. ( sure he did)

Thepeopleversuswork · 30/09/2025 14:39

@Goldenbear

Well that's the concept of nepotism, the talent is absent, someone has an unfair advantage based on who they know, not their ability.

Nepotism just means leveraging your connections to find work or opportunities for your children. It doesn't differentiate between people who have the aptitude and those who don't.

I'm not saying it's a good thing by the way: but the fact of nepotism doesn't automatically mean the person who has benefited from it is undeserving.

MidnightMeltdown · 30/09/2025 13:37

Definitely a nepo baby. She’s not even attractive imo. She’s got a piggy face. Amanda Holden wasn’t attractive when she was young either (i.e. before money!).

@MidnightMeltdown

amanda Holden absolutely is attractive, both when she was younger and as she is now. Which women exactly do you class as attractive??! Why do you impose such sky high expectations on women? Seems rather misogynistic to me….

What difference does it make if Louis can dance or not? He was a manager of pop groups therefore good at spotting talent, apparently

Yes, the bigger question is, 'how' did this man become the authority on 'talent' but then you only have to watch the beginnings of this awful BS talent contest/reality TV in the 00s to realise no talent was needed for his role.

StillCreatingAName · 30/09/2025 14:51

The Daily Fail started the term Nepo Baby and it’s applied to most children of anyone famous whether they trained or not- be interesting to know how many of those who write the sneering Nepo baby headlines got their jobs in ‘journalism’ though connections? It’s really unfair on any child who’s earned their success in any industry where they’ve had to prove themselves worthy of the job despite famous or well known to that industry parents. As long as they’re paying taxes and not just turning up to the opening of an envelope as a career, whilst simultaneously calling themselves an influencer, I couldn’t care less who their parents are and the hard working ones should be left alone, especially if they’re under 16 and living at home like any child tends to do, as they’re entitled to privacy if they’re not already a child influencer being exploited by influencer parents.

One of these things is really not like the other. Do people not understand what nepotism is?

Fully understand thank you. Im saying that it's not necessarily the case. I can't dance at all. If my mum was a famous dancer and I got a job dancing, defo nepotism because I have zero skills that could get me a job. I was just thinking that maybe she's got something that the professionals see that others don't? Like if you come from a line of people in the industry you pick up things that make you more alluring?

Slightly sidetracking but I did snigger when I saw she was hosting the tv show Cheaters..hello Neal!

I was surprised she ddi that programme but she didn't attract the criticism I thought she would.

Gofaster2023 · 30/09/2025 14:57

Im thinking out loud! Im not arguing btw! You could be absolutely right! I was just musing over alternative sides to it.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 30/09/2025 14:58

Ananda was a social climber and now her daughter has been given a leg up. Who cares.

Isn't that the point though, it is precisely because you are in the industry due to your parents' connections that the notion of 'talent' ceases to be relevant. Different, if you didn't use those connections and didn't use your name and people didn't know who you were.

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/09/2025 15:09

I think she’s a very pretty girl and is obviously tall and slender.

I suppose there are lots of people who got an intro into work because of their parents. If you own a shop, you’ll probably give your child a Saturday job. If you run a family business, you’ll probably give may expect or hope, that your child will join ir.

ConnieHeart · 30/09/2025 15:12

BettyTurpinPies · 30/09/2025 14:14

@ConnieHeart ,he wasn't just a game show host. Les Dennis - Wikipedia

That's pretty much all he was known for when he married AH. Yes he's done stage work too but wasn't well known for this

BettyTurpinPies · 30/09/2025 15:16

@Bluevelvetsofa ,she's not tall, she's about 5'5".
Models aren't necessarily conventionally pretty. They have a look, and the camera needs to love that look.

"If you own a shop, you’ll probably give your child a Saturday job. If you run a family business, you’ll probably give may expect or hope, that your child will join ir." is not nepotism.

BettyTurpinPies · 30/09/2025 15:20

@ConnieHeart , he was on tv a lot before he was a game show host. He was a comedian and actor, and was well known in the 70s and 80s.

Rewis · 30/09/2025 15:40

I think people mix two branches of nepotism. There is nepotism where you are unqualified/untalented and get a job because of your connections. Then there is being qualified/talented and the connections got you through the door and now you get to prove yourself. The nepotism babies in entertainment industry won't make it unless they have talent. Having a famous mom will get you hired for a movie, but it won't give you dozens of lead roles in big films unless you've proven yourself.

Grapewrath · 30/09/2025 15:41

She’s beautiful but very obviously a nepo. All of these kids are.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/09/2025 16:00

SweetTalkinWookie · 30/09/2025 11:34

Amanda Holden commenting on anything feels like a desperate move to stay relevant.

Her daughter is very beautiful, as 19-year-old privileged folks tend to be.

I agree with this totally. It isn’t just their looks. It’s that they know how to carry themselves and so forth.

In not sure if I agree with that but even if that is the case, an industry that is really hard to get into and I include TV, TV journalism, not just acting etc. will have missed out more talented people as it is a world that is impenetrable to most. Real talent is bad upon meritocracy not who will give you a break based upon your parents' connections.

AliceMcK · 30/09/2025 16:00

I think nepotism has always been around and in some cases so be it, passing wealth and businesses onto children is just natural, so is helping to open doors for yours kids, but I do think it’s ridiculous to deny it’s happened. I also think it’s ridiculous to deny it when the adult “child” clearly has zero talent and we are expected to believe they are wonderful and amazing because their parents have convinced their mates to make a big deal out of their child’s “talent” que Mel B’s amazing artist daughter, the Pinket-Smiths untalented kids, Beckhams etc.. There is no way an unqualified kid like Violet Affleck would ever have had access to speak at the global health organisation if her parents weren’t who they are.

I remember reading an article a few months ago about a celebrity complaining their child was accused of being a nepo baby and how they had achieved their success on their own, I can’t remember who it was but the adult child had achieved some high achieving academic success, to me yes of course the parents probably paid for the education but in this case no one is can say the child’s success was based on nepotism as they obviously have their own talent.

i admit I do roll my eyes when I see some nepo baby has landed a modelling career, been given their own tv show at 16 or landed major movie roles based on their natural beauty or talent, when it’s quite clear they only got the roles due to their parentage.

I also find it amusing when you have the likes of one of the Gallagher brothers kicking off because their children are being called nepotism babies when 30 years ago there’d be the ones slagging spoilt rich kids off.

The beckham kids rather prove this point don’t they.

I mean, both can be true.

To paraphrase Arthur Ransome (Swallows and Amazons), 'if not duffers, won't drown'.

That is, of course having Amanda as her mum helped to get her foot in the door. Of course it did! But, if she is not a duffer, she will do well through her own talent. If she is purely nepo with no talent, she will soon drown.

(cf. Brooklyn Beckham who has had all the opportunities, but a duffer of a career to date.)

Come on, be fair. Elephants are incredible to see but so hard to photograph!

AhBiscuits · 30/09/2025 16:07

I had to go look her up.
She's just a very normal looking girl. 100% nepo baby.

The Nepo’s don’t seem to understand that having access to the Contacts that thier Parents have made, and using those, in order to further thier career is Nepotism.

I think they only know the hard work to make it once in the room once contacts open the door - and are just blind to how bloody hard it is to get near the door or to get it open by yourself.

Exactly. Their cry is always “Oh, but the name/connection only opens the door. Then you have to prove yourself!”

Yes, dear, but many people just need the door opening for them and they too could do what you’re doing! It’s getting your foot in the door that’s the hard bit!
