mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/09/2025 10:11

Amanda Holden's daughter is now a model

Amanda is whinging saying that no-one should call her a nepo baby, she earned her modelling contract by herself

The kid is a nepo baby sorry 😭😭😭 - but what's so wrong with that?!

Just own it. Amanda bringing attention to it has just made it worse imo

Yanbu - the kid is a nepo baby
Yabu - the kid isnt a nepo baby and achieved this contract all by herself, no-one should ever call her a nepo baby ever!

She is gorgeous
I reckon she would have made it regardless.

She absolutely wouldn't IMO. She's pretty enough but I think 'gorgeous' is pushing it.

I suppose it’s following your parents into the family business. My son in law is a solicitor like his mother and grandfather before that, does that make him a nepo baby?

I was just going to say this…it’s not exclusive to the entertainment industry in any way shape or form. All parents help their children if they can. I’ve helped many family members get a foot in at my workplace. That’s the norm no?

That's the thing though.

I dabbled in modelling in my 20s and always did a lot of am dram, but in order to really make a go of becoming an actress/ model, I'd have had to be available every day, and pay a lot of money in outfits, travel and grooming in order to attend casting calls and auditions. In fact, the first few years of any type of career like that you probably pay out more than you earn and do a lot of things for exposure and to get noticed. Even with all that, without connections, you don't have much chance of "making it".

I couldn't do that, I needed to go to work and pay my rent and I didn't have spare money to fly to Paris for a casting call.

Yes, exactly & a bit like musical theatre - how many can make a good living?

BettyTurpinPies · 30/09/2025 12:20

@SweetTalkinWookie , Of course. Nose jobs, teeth straightening, dermatology can help a lot. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear though.

The ones I was thinking of were the average looking children of some celebrities. They have the polished appearance of the wealthy but that's it.

Which daughter ?
as I understand the eldest is at University in USA.

Amanda who ? if she hadn't been married to Les Dennis I think it would be a case of Amanda who...

No , she is at University here in England

He was married to a Hollywood actress.

He was: Mimi Rogers. But he married her in 1987, by which time he'd already had major career success with films like Risky Business (1983), Top Gun and The Color of Money (both 1986).

Not a particular fan of Cruise's but it's inaccurate to imply that his early career success was down to marrying someone also in the business.

whynotwhatknot · 30/09/2025 12:21

stuck up cow who got her break from being married to les dennis

jack quaid embraces that hes a nepo baby instead of moaning own it

You basically need to know that your living costs (in a big city) are covered and any work you get is a bonus. It's not really sustainable for anyone who needs to work to live.

I do wonder if the she’s not a nepo baby schtick is just to make everyone Google who she is and raise her profile. Good looking girl, having a famous mum will help. Amanda Holden’s face though, fucking hell, looks ok in pictures but its just so weirdly filled it’s hard to watch her talk.

100% this.

no such thing as bad publicity

no need for the comments on appearance tho, we need to stop attacking women on their looks. Full stop.

AliceMaforethought · 30/09/2025 12:25

I just wonder why so many of these young people, who have access to the very best education, all want to pursue modelling despite their looks? It is ludicrous. Even Brooklyn Beckham 'modelled' at one point. Same with Lila Moss Hack and Anais Gallagher. I'm not being nasty, neither of those girls are unattractive, but also they aren't really model material IMO. Just not striking or interesting enough.

BettyTurpinPies · 30/09/2025 12:26

@CatHairEveryWhereNow , contacts can open doors, but following your mother and grandfather into the family business isn't nepotism.

If you got your place at Law School because your relative was a prominent lawyer, when you didn't deserve a place on merit, would be nepotism.

Scout2016 · 30/09/2025 12:26

If I were an absolute talent vacuum like Amanda I would be counting my lucky stars I was still being employed, not grumbling about being able to give my child a leg up thanks to it. Most people would love to be able to help give their kid a head start. Then as a PP indicated, they sink or swim on merit, a la Brooklyn.
Amanda and Alesha sat judging other people's talent is just a piss take.

(I don't know enough about Louis to comment on whether he can dance or not, before anyone says I'm just slagging the women. I'm prepared to believe he is winging it too!)

SweetPenelope · 30/09/2025 12:28

Nepo baby is a stupid term made up recently by journalists.

Happyjoe · 30/09/2025 12:33

All these vacuous tv personalities and equally vacuous children. How refreshing it would be to see one of their kids become scientists and research a cure for cancer or something instead of another bloomin model. After all they would've gone to the best school money could buy.
As street artist Plastic Jesus coined - stop making stupid people famous.

Loads of Nepo-babies … wonder how Tilly Ramsey got that cooking show on CBBC… the one that Gordon Ramsey always appears on.

The Nepo’s don’t seem to understand that having access to the Contacts that thier Parents have made, and using those, in order to further thier career is Nepotism.

It makes no difference if they are talented, lots of young people are … they have advantages via Nepotism, that other young people don’t have.

I wish they would just admit it

You’ve got it right there. I don’t think many of us are particularly bothered when the child of an actor becomes an actor.

What nepo babies are is people insisting they’d have made it anyway and it’s pure talent. Most success has a little bit of luck, just acknowledge your parent was your luck!

He was married to a Hollywood actress.

? He was already hugely famous by the time he married Mimi Rogers. Top Gun etc

You'd get on the law degree due to grades at UK univeristies - getting on post graduate training contracts post law degree in solicitor firms was where relative struggled with no contacts.

The barrier wasn't the inital law degree but afterwards - The Secret Barrister books do make mention of similar issue regarding access to placements and I did link to students in area survey who think it's an issue/ barrier to them.

user68901 · 30/09/2025 12:46

Fair play to Tilly, she graduated with a degree in Psychology from Nottingham University which so many nepos wouldn't have been bothered to do when backed by so much money and celebrity.
Regarding Amanda Holden daughter - she is pretty in those massively airbrushed pictures. So many girls are equally pretty but wouldn't have stood a chance of getting a contract.

LostPEKitAgain · 30/09/2025 12:46

What’s wrong with being called a Nepo Baby, Amanda? As Brooklyn said “Jesus was a nepo baby” 😂

FeliciaFancybottom · 30/09/2025 12:50

I don't think she'd have made it without her mother's connections. Yes, she's pretty, but she's not catwalk material; she's neither unique nor interesting looking enough for the high-end jobs.

nicepotoftea · 30/09/2025 12:50

Amanda Holden is obviously famous, but I don't think famous enough for anyone to care if her daughter is a model.

reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson · 30/09/2025 12:55

The only reason being a nepo baby becomes a problem is when nepo babies bend over backwards to reject the label. It sounds out of touch and ungrateful.

Plus it’s generally not an issue if they are shown to be genuinely talented. But then you have minimally skilled ones like chef beckham or raff law where it’s obvious their name has given them their careers.

I mean what is anyone working for if not to be able to help their kids out?

Complaining about it is pointless 😄

Agree with this, its to create controversy and attention, I wouldnt have known otherwise

Tbf the Victorians thought actresses were little more than prostitutes.

Harsh

mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/09/2025 12:58

There does seem to be more of the kids heavily relying on their parents fame though

All these parent/baby travel shows
