Reform voters may not be racist but they are at least dangerously naive

ChocolateMagnum · 29/09/2025 08:00

AIBU to accept that some Reform voters may not actually be racist, but to be pretty certain that, if they're not, they are at the very least dangerously naive?

I thought we all got taught at school about how fascism took over in 1939s Germany? And there's so much out there at the moment showing why we are at a dangerous turning point in history again.

Why is it that the so-called non-racist Reform voters not see that they are aligning themselves with a covertly racist and fascist-leaning party and that their support risks tipping the balance towards a fascist dictatorship in the UK?

It only became legal in England in 2013. Let's not go crazy here. This entire thread was about how reform dont actually care about womens right. You think they care about gay rights either. The far right love white, straight men. Thats it. By telling me how terrible Muslims are doesn't mean that the reform mps are good people.

That’s not what the thread was created to discuss.

I don’t know why the poster in question doesn’t start their own thread 😵‍💫

If you're actually interested.

I kind of think that my problems shouldn't be for others to solve. I see my issues as wider than just me. i don't want someone to swoop in and give only me a solution. I want a solution for everyone. Therefore, I'm not really into a thread about me. I'd have buggered off and not read it for 3 days. But I was really interested in this one.

I dont agree with you, but I enjoy talking to you and seeing your views. Even if I don't like them, it gives perspective.

Some of the other posters scared me.

But none of you know me. So I can pootle off and do my own thing.

If I had started a thread I wouldn't have been able to engage in the same way. I would have felt responsibility.

So I prefer to join others threads. Just my feeling. I expect it's super annoying. Sorry.

Thank you for that! I might not agree with all the other posters on the thread either, but where would we be without discussion?

I understand what you mean about asking on this thread - my feeling was you’d get more specific (and better) advice or information on your own separate one. I don’t think you were annoying anyone! But I can understand why you wanted to ask here now you’ve explained it 😊

I wouldn't clap too hard because some people are currently proving just how thick they are.

Is that all you’ve got.
You can only insult.
Take a good look at yourself before slagging off others.

You are being utterly unreasonable, OP. We are all entitled to our opinions, and many people want a much firmer grip on immigration, most particularly illegal immigration that not only endangers the lives of those undertaking such a journey, but also puts a huge strain on the finances and infrastructure of our country. Whether or not Reform will be able to do anything effective about it remains to be seen - but you cannot blame Reform members from thinking that the other parties have failed utterly in their duty to defend our borders. I am not a reform voter, but I can understand why people are despairing of the mainstream political parties.

Agree

No need for the hyperbole. Would you like to discuss calmly?

Thankyou for protecting and feeding the stray!

I did shriek like a loser when someone left the kitten at my door. I was sat right by the window so was watching and wondering what they were doing. My door is 6 ft from the road!

I am really glad though that they left it at my house, and not completely alone. Could have been worse.

It seems fairly happy.
This both pleases and upsets me. I dont really want it but I expect that's it now. Noone else will take it will they?!

My kids (who are adults and don't even live with me) want to name it something halloweeny so I think I'm already accidentally commited.

There are terrible people out there who will dump cats and kittens anywhere, but I’m glad they choose you.
Yes I’m thinking you are committed now.
My kid who has not long moved out wanted to call the 2nd cat we got Cumberbatch, but I drew the line at that so he’s called Sherlock.
Here they are not long after Sherlock arrived 6 years ago.

Try being calm when your existence is being threatened. I've spent the evening trying to work out where I might claim asylum. My mum and I were born in the UK I might add.

Your existence isn’t being threatened. Be reasonable. Claim asylum?

Who’s threatening your existence?

HedwigEliza · 29/09/2025 23:14

A record 125 migrants arrived on single dinghy on Saturday. A total of 895 people in 12 boats.

I’m not sure ‘small boats’ is accurate here!

My cat died about a year ago. I keep toying with the idea of adopting another one. I sort of wish one would turn up on my doorstep and take the decision out of my hands!

Sorry to hear that.Thats how we got Sherlock. The cat distribution system came in to play.
Its usually Sod’s Law you will adopt and then another will just turn up on your doorstep looking for a home.I love cats.

I don't know what I'll do either.

I have nowhere to go.

I dont think people realise just how scary that is. It's not something I ever thought I'd have to face until this week.

Ive been to court and sworn a declaration to be British (you have to do this to get naturalisation but the process was never completeled)but I don't think that will mean anything if reform gets in.

I was 6 months old when I got here.

Our life isn’t shit nor are we bitter and unhappy, and we intend to make sure that our safety and that of our children is paramount.

My mum, who is also an immigrant, thinks it's all magic and everything will be fine, so at least she's happy I guess.

My brother, who will inherit, in classic Mumsnet style, is running round like a headless chicken. He is British born and the first son. My mum currently holds everything.

I am derailing, sorry, but now I'm thinking! I become more me late at night!

I will go. Good luck everyone. I hope we are all safe.

Nearly a quarter (23%) supported the introduction of sharia law in some areas of Britain

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/apr/11/british-muslims-strong-sense-of-belonging-poll-homosexuality-sharia-law

So she was correct. The vast majority of muslims do not want to live under Sharia Law.

I can try and pursue citizenship but I have a minimum wage part time job and I claim pip for a disability. I simply cannot afford to do this.

I am the first person reform will throw out.

My family is reasonably wealthy but they will not help. Long story. And my adoptive british father has passed away. So 🤷

Scary isn’t it. My siblings are also trying to get second passports for themselves and their children (like you, born bred Britons) because of how worrying they find the current rhetoric (not just here - but across Europe.)

So sorry that other Britons are making you feel this way. All they see is “immigrant” and ignore the complexities, nuances and real humans behind the numbers.

But at least we know it’s not just “illegal immigrants” that Reform supporters have an issue with.

I’d be interested in your definition of a Briton, as you keep repeating it.
