As a resident of #Portland it is impossible to capture how unhinged this is. We are a low crime city and the ICE protest "siege" consists of one auxiliary ICE office that normally has at most a dozen weirdos debating what performance art they should use to block a single driveway

He threatened Chicago with this, got significant pushback from the state governor and backed down.
He is using this as a distraction tactic, particularly in relation to releasing the Epstein files, something that the majority of his own supporters would like him to do.

However, I happen to have a friend in Portland. He's got full on TDS so I never know what to make of what he says. I haven't spoken to him about this.

But my general impression of Portland is it's a bit like London or Birmingham, it very much depends who you speak to about the state of things, whether they're fine or not

But Trump's decision will be related to the incidents of 2020 probably, and also to the more recent activity by Antifa. I was under the impression that never really recovered from 2020 and that my friend is pretty much back peddling after Trump got elected.

My friend pretty much doesn't go out in the evening so he doesn't see that side of things. I don't know how big the area is.

I'm neutral on this by the way - I see some puzzling comments on here about what Trump is doing, but as I say, it's really hard to know what is correct

Then he'll threaten to annex Liechtenstein and he'll ask Putin very gently if he might consider not bombing civilians this week. There are no "soaring crime rates" in Los Angeles, Washington DC, Chicago or Portland. Mind you, there's a lot of law-breaking going on in the White House led by a notorious nonce who whipped up an insurrection, but the courts are doing their best to rein that in.

ICE goons haven't been deporting any violent criminals. That's too difficult, they pick on soft targets and nab plenty of people who were legally in the US in the process.

Just like you were talking shite about Portland. There aren't mobs of "antifa" holding the city to ransom. There is one bloke in a chicken suit holding a placard outside of the ICE building. Fox 'News' (legally they call themselves an entertainment channel, they are not a serious news outlet) has been using old footage from 2020, often from different cities and with some use of photoshop to pretend that Portland is on fire. It is not. But you're gullible enough to believe the likes of Fox or GBeebies.
