From what I've seen on social media, Portland residents going about their Saturday business, jogging, visiting a local hippy market etc, and expressing good humoured bewilderment at being portrayed as living in a Gotham adjacent environment, it's difficult to envision what is going on that merits military action.
Surely if they did feel under threat they would be welcoming the initiative with open arms.
I know everything these days is "curated" etc but I have also seen videos of ICE agents physically restraining women and throwing a couple on the floor when they have yes, been vocal about the situation but not physically aggressive. I've also seen these agents pointing their weapons at people filming very aggressive detentions.
These days I am very confused as to what constitutes truth or reality. It's as if we live in two co-existing realities, the one we see through the lens of media in all its forms, aandlived experience, and they are constantly flip flopping across the line of - well, reality.
I have little idea of what to believe any more, about pretty much anything.
So I've pretty much withdrawn from "life" except in terms of necessity. I wonder how many others are just quietly observing from their own little bubble without engaging because they don't want to be part of the problem.
And of course, this is how control is achieved, and how injustice flourishes. I'm buggered if I know how to live anymore....
