I really feel you x
I'm not an expert on anything, but I live by the idea that all killing is wrong, injustice must be addressed, things like wealth and opportunity inequality are out of hand, and currently the world we live in seeks to justify all those things, according to tribal division.
Given the lessons of history one would hope that we'd mived a bit further in terms of understanding and be trying something different.
The sense I get is that some people positively thrive on the fear and conflict, and especially online the vitriol is at a level I don't recall seeing previously. I know it's algorithm driven, what we see, and is supposed to be based on what we look at, but I also think it's agenda driven. People seem to have forgotten about Cambridge Analytica, yet this was a few years ago now, and the manipulation skills have been constantly honed since then, because money mainly, obviously.
(Don't get me started on AI, we'll be here all day).
I'm on a thread discussing the proposed peace deal for Gaza. Given Trumps track record, I don't think it's in the least bit unreasonable to have doubts or uneasiness around this process. Obviously peace in Gaza is extremely desirable for both sides and the wider world, but can Trump broker it successfully? It's a waiting game.
But on that thread are people screaming that the discussion is rooted in anti-semitism and bigotry. When it's more about whether the proposed deal will be accepted by all sides, and whether the proposed new regime will achieve its aims. That's picking holes apparently, and "at least Trump's doing something".
So i give up, honestly. The only side I'm on is "world peace", naive little woman that I apparently am.
