Something that stays with you, or something that you reference all the time?

Mine is Autoglass Repair Autoglass Replace. Literally, the second my windscreen got a crack this week, I knew i'd just contact them.

They're actually just called 'Autoglass' as well, but i still say the full tagine for the fun of it.

🤣🤣🤣

they’re a football team. A rubbish one 🤣

the advert was for milk and implied if you didn’t drink milk you’ll end up playing for a rubbish team (like Accrington Stanley!)

People are a lot less comfortable with being told what to do these days. Mind you, it worked!
Fortunately the Aids denialism movement fizzled out.
I was shocked by this though https://medium.com/the-monthly/the-foo-fighters-aids-denialism-should-be-on-the-record-6e33666fdc3c

It was a milk advert, you’ll be able to find it on YouTube I expect. The fact you can hear it shows how effective it was I guess. It must be a really satisfying job to create adverts that impact people so strongly….says me the finance person 😂

Yeah I'm more annoyed at myself than I am disgusted in him though. He is who he is, but I thought I was a good judge of character and I thought he was a really nice fella.

The tune 'Air on a G string' by J S Bach.
Better known as the Hamlet Cigar tune to those of us at a certain age ☺️

SpottyAardvark · 28/09/2025 18:21

‘Clunk click, every trip’.

A highly successful series of public information films in the 1970s & 80s to encourage people to wear seatbelts fronted by Jimmy Savile. They helped to change public attitudes, change people’s behaviour & save lives.

It inevitable that the many good things Savile did in his life will always be overshadowed by the many evil things he did.

Droppit · 28/09/2025 18:26

Should've gone to Specsavers

Lonelycrab · 28/09/2025 18:29

Compare the meerkat was pretty good.

And here am I years later using only them for all my insurance. Worked on me I guess.

EBearhug · 28/09/2025 19:42

Someone mentioned the Benson & Hedges ads uptrend- I always thought the Silk Cut ones were good.

Clarks shoes
Act your shoe size, not your age.

As heard of people saying I love watching cartoons as can act my shoe size.

I remember 'act your age, not your shoe size' being a common insult as a 90s kid 😄

Yorkie - never ate one!

Same, I used to eat them often and haven’t since the day I saw that advert.

Cigarette ads? When was this? 👀👀

1980s, I think. In magazines. Purple and white with just a cut sliced in a piece of silk, no words.

PansyPotter84 · 29/09/2025 09:08

I wonder how many Safestyle UK call operators were fed up with kids calling 0800 106 107 free from phone boxes and shouting down the phone “SAFESTYLE! I WANT YOUR WINDOWS!”

Its what the guy in the ad said to do…

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 29/09/2025 09:19

There are some adverts that have stuck with me for 40+ years just because of their jingles - B&Q (You can do it if you B&Q it), Super Fresco (What goes up, must come down. Superfresco makes it easy, it's from Graham and Brown) and Shake 'n' Vac. The Smash adverts of the late 70s and early 1980s are also something I remember to this day.
The only reason I remember adverts these day because so many of them feature really irritating people! Probably not what the advertisers want, really, as it makes me avoid certain products!

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 29/09/2025 09:21

The cigarette adverts in magazines back in the 1980s were beautifully shot. They always had such a glamourous feel to them - mind you, they never convinced me to smoke.
