To start a new woo thread

Has anyone had any woo experiences, particularly if it's something/someone you've seen? I know that not everyone believes, just I've had some odd experiences myself and it makes me wonder. Especially with Halloween next month and it being a little while since we've had a woo thread. Would love to hear your stories!

I've had inflammation in the eyes that have made the whites very red before (Scleritis). But I can't think of a reason why his pupils were red. Very spooky indeed!

unsurewhattodoaboutit · 05/10/2025 20:19

Contact lenses?, albino?, alien from another world? your imagination? You said you don’t believe in stuff so there must be a rational explanation right?

unsurewhattodoaboutit · 05/10/2025 20:25

Reddit says it’s the ‘shadow man’ - they can have red eyes.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 05/10/2025 21:42

I know it’s quite common to have hallucinations before you die. My grandmother said that my grandfather came to her and sat on the end of her bed before she died. It brought comfort to my mum. She also said that a little man in a green suit used to visit the hospital ward and visit the people that were dying. We mentioned this to one of the nurses and she said that a lot of patients over the years had apparently seen a man in a green suit. None of the nurse or visitors had ever seen him though.

I dismissed contact lenses and also my imagination. Same with albino eyes, I’ve seen a few of those IRL. Obvs I know nothing of aliens. However if it was an alien opting to take a bus journey they chose a nice, scenic route 😂 btw no offence intended by my disclaimer that I don’t necessarily believe in all things ‘woo’. I worded it as respectfully as I could given I’m on a woo thread and was hopefully ambiguous enough to suggest that I don’t completely write off the possibility of it.

No notable irritation of the whites of the eyes in this man, that I could discern by the glimpses I had of him. My eyes are green, but where my eyes are green, his were red iyswim

My parents had a friend who died a few years ago, aged 95 (Mum and Dad are 79 and 84 respectively). In the weeks approaching the end, he would speak of seeing children playing around his chair. I have read elsewhere of people nearing the end of life, similarly seeing children who aren't actually there.

sashh · 06/10/2025 04:30

Nothing to hint at the man wackily deciding to just don a pair of red contacts. Anyway, brief as it was, we’d met eyes and I could just tell the irises of his eyes weren’t obscured by the blocky colour contacts give.

Coloured contacts have come a long way, they don't really do block colours I used to wear green contact lenses and I have tried a few versions. My eyes are naturally blue with white flecks, on pair I tried didn't change my eye colour but made the flecks bright turquoise.

But them disappearing is odd.

Well they probably are. There has been research into this, the experience is real not hallucination.
Imho,
People are just helped in this way, by being prepared to transcend and someone - a loved one, a comforting/angelic or religious avatar will come to greet them and take them along, so they aren't scared.

I 100% believe that ghosts or spirits are like a film playing on a loop, almost like an imprint on a place, not capable of thought or speech but a remembered aura.

I saw what I believe to be such a ghost in a cemetery, of a man in a black suit stood at the end of a (his?) Grave when I was about 15. There was no way he could have come through the scraping, creaky gate without me noticing, as I was having a sneaky fag! He then silently disappeared.

I think sometimes they are 'on a loop's as you say, but other times they are clearly 'interacting', like some PPs have mentioned they'd be staring at them, speaking to them or moving family objects.

This is similar to one of my relatives - when he was dying he saw the family’s (long before) deceased dog walking around his bed and was throwing little bits of food on the floor to ‘feed’ it.

Rubyupbeat · 06/10/2025 11:11

My last house we had an elderly lady living next door but one, who never went out, she had carers 3 times per day, as she was ill and housebound. She always managed to give us a lovely smile and wave each day through the window though.
One day I saw her crossing the road, she looked lovely, beautiful skin and a lovely coat on, I tapped on the window and we waved at each other.
A few days later another neighbour knocked, she was collecting for my next door but one neighbours funeral who had died 2 weeks before, in her bed, not been out in 2 years!
I was so glad to have seen her free front pain at last.

YumYa · 06/10/2025 11:38

@Rubyupbeat I had similar with my aunt. I knew the day she'd die (psychically) and she'd been poorly but she came to me at the time of dying. Looked amazing in a dress I'd never seen before. My dm rang and I said I know she's passed.

Her dd told me she had a photo of her dm wearing that dress when younger. Aunt looked a lot younger in her visitation. I'm a medium so it didn't freak me out I was honoured.

Honestly, I know. There’s no way I can explain it to sound believable, I just know that the man wasn’t wearing contacts. He was just a normal middle aged man dressed like any other nondescript middle aged man, it wouldn’t even make sense for him to be sat there wearing the most realistic red coloured contacts I’ve seen (trust me I googled afterwards).
Anyway I don’t want to keep going on about my admittedly very boring anecdote!
To add to the other comments about end of life visions: mum when she was younger spent some time with a little girl who was sadly on her death bed. The little girl was talking about there being angels around her/sitting on the end of the bed. Obviously no one else in the room could see them.

FurForksSake · 06/10/2025 12:17

Is anyone following the countdown to Halloween that Danny Robins is doing? Some delightful creepy uncanny nuggets.

MsJinks · 06/10/2025 13:23

I’m not sure how woo this is but I found it interesting. My mum was very ill in hospital- EOL though she made it home a few weeks - she had a long sleep, woke up and said ‘oh I’m back’ - but then was quite upset that ‘whilst she was gone’ we and the US had had elections and Starmer and Trump were in - I could assure her it was Sunak and Biden as this was October 2023. Keir looked set for victory already I guess, but Trump I’m not sure. So a bit odd and actually very confusing for my Mum.
My Dad always said his Dad said goodnight to him when he was 12, the night his Dad passed away in hospital after an accident. He also saw his beloved dogs in the garden whilst near the end of his life. Though he did also have upsetting hallucinations, as far as I understood them.
On the fence mainly but believe there’s energetic forces, or just stuff, that we don’t yet understand, and I haven’t got the centuries to see such improved know before I go - so may be earthly or may ge ethereal - I can’t decide.

I think the story about the red eyed bloke on the bus in Yorkshire is extremely creepy and well written

arh25 · 06/10/2025 20:40

@Rubyupbeat this gave me goosebumps, I love stories like these Halo

I've been loving the Uncanny countdown, although today's was odd... a phantom seal Hmm

OP posts:
FurForksSake · 06/10/2025 20:45

The phantom seal was really weird!? I thought it was going to be about the random student. It was such a curveball.

arh25 · 06/10/2025 20:49

@FurForksSake that's what I thought. I'll be honest, I'm not sure on that one!

OP posts:
FurForksSake · 06/10/2025 20:53

He’s been wearing some excellent jumpers. He needed a ghost seal 🦭

I'm a pagan and occultist, so I actively seek "woo" experiences out.

I've had what I believe to be communications with certain Gods and Goddesses that I've approached, some of the most recent being Mercury and Venus.

Interested to know more about, why did you believe that ?

What are you specifically referring to? Are you asking why I'm a pagan and occultist or asking why I believe I've had communication with some deities?

I'm interested as well. I'm sort of familiar with the Pagan belief umbrella and way of life. Not sure that I understand what someone would mean by occultist and very interested to hear what a communication with a deity would be like. Especially biggies, Mercury and Venus, how did you know it was them, what was the experience like? Genuine question.
