It's not cold enough here to need the hearing on yet. Where are you?

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 21/09/2025 20:28

I put mine on today for first time..but l came home from Greece two days ago where it was 33 degrees... l pay monthly .. the same amount all year round.. so im always in credit by time Autumn/ winter.. so l can afford to have it on whenever... plus l became an OAP last year.. missed out on the fuel allowance...but will receive it this year.
But I'll also take an holiday to Lanzarote/ Fueterventura for some hot weather too in November and February.

It’s 9 degrees here and we’ve not had the heating on yet this autumn. We do have a very well insulated house though. Do you have lots of insulation? Any gaps you can plug up? I believe heated throws are popular but I’ve not tried them. I find my feet being cold is the worst feeling and have lots of warm socks and slippers and even self heating foot warmers from Amazon when it’s really cold. If my feet are warm I find it easier to be warm all over.

No heating on yet, midlands area, toddlers bedroom monitor is saying 20deg, so don’t feel the need yet at all despite it being quite chilly outside!

Tiredofwhataboutery · 21/09/2025 20:31

No heating on here but there is a bite in the air. Electric blanket on the bed.

Toomanywaterbottles · 21/09/2025 20:32

It’s not cold, though. I’ve been in sandals and a summer dress all day, out and about. Got three loads of washing dried on the line outside.

housemaus · 21/09/2025 20:32

It's 10 degrees here and not cold enough in my house to need the heating on thankfully (and that's with the bathroom window cracked open 24/7 for ventilation).

Even so this is still firmly in the 'put some socks or a jumper on' time of the year for me.

jettisoned · 21/09/2025 20:33

It's been 21.5° today in the house with doors and windows open, haven't even thought about it yet apart from on Mumsnet 😂 where are you?

padso · 21/09/2025 20:33

I caved

padso · 21/09/2025 20:34

It's around 12 but says it feels like 7

Tastaturen · 21/09/2025 20:34

Temperature here has just taken a dip and looks to be cold for a few days, so set it for a little blast in the morning and evening, but not on properly yet. Having lived with broken heating for a while we're planning to use the heaters we now have when we need to. We're all electric, and not cheap, but will cut back in other places if need be. We're wearing jumpers and socks too (lol). North Scotland, windy as well as cold.

warmapplepies · 21/09/2025 20:35

Where are you that it's 8 degrees?

We've had the doors and windows open all day and I was at the yard in a t-shirt.

padso · 21/09/2025 20:35

Heather blankets are good

padso · 21/09/2025 20:35

heated!

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 21/09/2025 20:35

No heating on till november that's the rule. That's what extra jumpers are for.

Bowling4soup · 21/09/2025 20:35

lowest my house has got yet (during waking hours) is 19degrees. It felt a bit chilly but I just used a blanket instead

TranceNation · 21/09/2025 20:36

Here in Devon it doesn't feel cold yet. It's a steady 15 degrees at day here and 9 degrees at night now. It feels more like put a jumper on, winter duvet on sort of level here at the moment. Not put the heating on for a few months now anyway.

padso · 21/09/2025 20:36

@warmapplepies I'm in London & the weather app says it's feels like 7.

Zanatdy · 21/09/2025 20:36

I’ve had my AC on today. Living in a flat, no need for heating on for ages yet.

Wow, it's been t-shirt weather here Grin

IHaveRunOutOfIdeas · 21/09/2025 20:37

I’ve just put it in for half an hour, I’ve got some washing that I’d like to dry for morning and I don’t think it will without a little boost. Don’t really fancy sticking it in the dryer either.

Tastaturen · 21/09/2025 20:37

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 21/09/2025 20:35

Surely that depends on where you live, how insulated your house is and so on.
Our rule is not to be competitive underheaters.
It's taken a dip here, at 3/3 of us feel the air decidedly colder, so low level 'taking the chill off' been instated.

TheatricalLife · 21/09/2025 20:38

It's been really warm here today (Oxfordshire) so absolutely no chance in the heating going on, even in a 300 year old cottage. Long may it last!

Arlanymor · 21/09/2025 20:38

West Wales - haven’t had the heating on since about April. We’ve had torrential rain (over the top or car bonnet flooding) but a jumper and a blanket has been enough when working from home and not moving around much. I don’t think I will need it until
late autumn.

Funningitup · 21/09/2025 20:38

November is when we start. Wouldn’t think of it yet. Am ooop north
